I love that you stay busy, why because I like to see you in parts of Paris where I wouldn't go without your videos. Keep em coming Jay. Plus I can tell Cooper love you being busy, he gets to go outside to play with his friends in the restaurants and parks. Merci
So true! We homeschooled our two kids and when we started, I had lots of questions about our routine and what our day "should" look like. A fellow homeschooling mom with lots of experience told me something I use to this day: Your routine serves you; it is not your master.
When we first moved to France, I absolutely loved the work/life balance my husband had with his job. Wickedly different from the US. He works for himself and I can tell has a difficult time shutting off the work brain. It is getting better. I keep a daily schedule, but with my treatments it’s hard to schedule much. And those potstickers looked amazing!
They were so good. And I feel you - we're all works in progress. I'm starting to enjoy that process more than focus on what I think might be the destination
Thanks for this, Jay. Been asking myself the same thing recently, so it was great to hear my instincts aloud, but also taken further into a overall idea of work/life balance. Longtime fan but first time commenter, thanks again for all you've done.
Breaking your routine, is a rest day. You need to have these with exercise routines and also with work, hence the weekend for Monday to Friday workers.
Love your videos, it’s our first time in Paris and they’ve been super helpful! We saw you across the street near Porte Saint-Denis yesterday and didn’t get the chance to say it but thank you for your content, it’s really been helpful on our first visit!
Jay, is it possible to show you ordering in French? That’s a major part of traveling to Paris and your example of how to order correctly would be helpful.
Idk. Some years all I did was read and work. Other sets of years I drank and effed off but I laid low enough to stay outta trouble (like avoiding marriage, divorce, law suits & Court, and general trouble leaving the house.) In the end I guess my big goal was to own my living space and have zero debt AND not have kids or a divorce or a mortgage to chase. Now that I've achieved that, I want to see France & England B4 I'm 2old to walk. 🤷🏻♂️ This has been my life of "enough".
If Paris were a bit more reliable you could make a video for "What's open on Monday" - I'm feeling like I should just stay home on Monday after classes!
Jay, thank you for all the great content and wisdom in 2023 and fantastic kick off in 2024. Next cup of coffee is on me and if there is a little extra - how about a new toy for Cooper the Magnificent. 😃
In your case, I think you need to set limits for hours spent per day or per week in order to avoid burnout. As you said, priorities are essential so that you focus on the most important things, but you can obviously burn out even if you're only working on the most important things. And as you said, you need downtime.
Work life balance is never easy to maintain. So many of us are “just get it done” people and that usually means we blow the work life balance. This used to be me for two decades. Post pandemic I decided to work hard at maintaining the balance and now I force myself to end each day at the same time and get away from the desk for personal time.
Fantastic boundary to set. I've been doing something similar around protecting sleep and prioritizing exercise. They both require pretty set blocks of time and, if I can stick to those, I wind up naturally putting work down faster
You'd think, wouldn't you! Surprisingly, I find it a hard habit to get into. But hey, makes for an interesting day, and often it's in finding a replacement that I discover something new :)

The title is me halfway through a stack of Pringles.
😆
I am absolutely loving starting my day with these videos. It’s the perfect vibe.
I'm so glad! Thank you =)

Cooper's living his best life, to be sure 😂

Great quote

work hard, play hard, set limits and enjoy life!

You bet! Thank *you*!

Definitely gotta get good rest days in there

your videos always awake my appetite 🤤
😂

Sure! I need to circle back to that

I feel like I’m in Paris now thanks to you ❤❤❤
Happy to build a window/bridge =D
2:22 My only routine is trying to be hydrated and not feel like I’m decomposing in my bed.
😂
Thanks to you Jay!
🥂🥂
Priorities, lad ! No one is on YT for 24 hours .
🥂
Korean dumplings are "mandoo" 😍

It's not your job, it's your personality (which has led to your career). Some people just have to mow the lawn differently every time.
All the more reason to feel grateful =)
Love Store behind you ❤❤
😂

I was just saying I needed to get him a fresh bone! On y va! Merci 🥂
@@JaySwanson - I am now all smiles.

Definitely - I think the key is learning to listen to ourselves and pull back in ways that are actually helpful/restful
Kiin run?! never seen you on Sundays
I know it's been a while! I live so far away, easier lately to run locally lately
Just make sure that you are taking care of you so that you don't get burned out. Those pot stickers looked delicious.
I'm on full watch! And yeah, they were among the best I've had
In Korean they’re called Goon Mandu . Gyoza is the Japanese name.
In English they’re called DEEELICIOUS!
DEEEELICIOUS inded! Funny because they marked them as gyoza on the menu but I bet just because none of us would have a clue 😂
@@JaySwanson Do Parisian dim-sum houses still call them "raviolis à la vapeur"?
Speaking of Koreanfood, you should collab with Korean Englishman/JOLLY
Oooh, crispy pot stickers!
They were SO GOOD
Day ends when you sleep I guess 😅 , always an interesting balance between grind and care lol
We're messy, and it's always good to remember it =)

Because of you, I'm craving some good gyozas now.
Hey Jay, I’ve often wondered why you don’t simply call the establishment to confirm if they are open - before venturing out ? 😎
You'd think, wouldn't you! Surprisingly, I find it a hard habit to get into. But hey, makes for an interesting day, and often it's in finding a replacement that I discover something new :)
Poor Cooper, he's bouncing around as you talk with your hands. Surprised it didn't rock him to sleep. 😂
Me? It’s more when do I start? 😂. 🌴🌴Aloha
When do I start 😂🍷

Wondered if I should blur those out 😂
