This great master always creates a sense of discovery when he plays. Katsaris is a living legend and among the top 10 greatest living pianists.
I'd say precisely that, one of the greatest living pianists alive for sure.
Yeah hecking fast but beautiful energetic and fast and strong played
Although I don't like the speed, his dynamics and rubato are phenomenal. Definitely one of the best renditions of this piece.
I am kinda already used to this speed since the only performance of this work I had bothered listening to for a while was Sauer's which is played at a similar tempo to Katsaris.
I do agree. The voicing and dynamics are on another level ❤
did you watch his masterclass videos? If you didnt dude u missing so much. Its incredible how easy and basic details could make a difference that much
@@Kermit15243 I have, couldn't recommend them more! Most of the Chopin I know was learned following his masterclasses. They provide some really valuable tips.
@@Rodrigo-fw8us 👍🏻 ikrr they really do
The master of iner voices
This interpretation is amazing it really sounded like a fantasy mixed with emotions
Fantastic to see this man play the piano, one of the greats!!!
This is amazing. Really illustrates how important it is to focus on the left hand also and not only see it as something that is happening in the background to make it sound fuller
all my years admiring different pianists from lisita to gould, ive just discovered katsaris now from a youtube short. ive missed so much. this rendition kinda shook me. pretty fucking astounded over here if im bein honest.
If you haven't heard his interpretation of the Beethoven symphony transcriptions then you are in for a treat. 3,6,7 and 9 are must listens in my opinion.
Wow, that moment at 3:02! First I was confused like “what the hell is he doing?!” but suddenly I realized his idea. It is a nice joke :D
Tatsuya Uejima - get the fuck over it lol
@@tatsuyauejima7013 grow up! You're 12 already
I don’t get it, what’s the joke?
There is no joke here. He's bringing out inner voices that are not usually accentuated for effect. He's always been an advocate for never playing a repeating section the same. In fact he played it in several ways each time bringing out different melodic lines. It's quite interesting and refreshing.
@@vripiatbuzoi9188 Really interesting, Think more pianist should try this
I love how he use to move the accent in the reprises
He is a genius and master pianist, though I prefer it slower.
He plays from his LOVE 💞😍💞
What a charming surprise on the return of the main theme after the middle section. What extraordinary voicing !
Thank you..
it sounded great and enerjetic and fast in my opinion cyprien katsaris
さすがピアノの神による幻想即興曲。内声部の巧みな処理と、確かで洗練された技巧。
3:48 That's a nice small hint to Carmina Burana: Fortune, Empress of the World (O Fortuna)
Incredible voicing in the 3:01 part, that level of detail is simply astonishing!
This piece was composed lonnggg after chopin's Fantasie impromtu. Chopin would not know of its existence
@@jakehouston4487 no, it's about Katsaris' interpretation, because he adds a lower octave note that makes it sound like Carmina Burana
Carissimo Maestro , quando una nota parla è musica. Lei fa parlare la musica. Dearest Teacher, when a note speaks it is music. She makes the music speak. Grazie!
so beatiful. no words.
extraordinaire
I'm a little disappointed to see that nobody else hears the spectacular voicing that I did. Industry first for me!
4:01
That "shhh" though

Mind blowing🎉🎉🎉
Cyprien Katsaris !
Fantastic interpretation and technique. But I have difficulty to hear the harmonies because he is playing so fast. Would be interesting to have heard Chopin himself - which tempo he would have chosen.
Yeah exactly
wonderful! I repeat having asked another place, have you also recorded the MS version?
This performance makes me think of Debussy & impressionism... the notes wash over me instead of hitting as individual points...
You

watched a bunch of videos of him in 1993, see him now and wow, there's such a difference :/ sad to see time move on lol
Ypu need to respect while living coment
He played it too fast. It sounds like junk. Respectively
This is actually the right tempo
Wrong
L take

Try listening faster. Some passages are maybe too slow even. This is how it's meant to be played, but must pianists can't cope with the tempo.
