- Showing how to pull string through an underground conduit that got filled with water during a rainstorm before the string was installed. I was worried that the water would stop the parachute from making its way through the conduit.
Also some bloopers/messing around at the end.
At a chemical plant I worked at, we had a contractor blow string through and underground conduit and into and electrical substation. There was water in the conduit, and, unfortunately, the water flew into the 13.8kv switchgear, causing a fault and shut down the entire complex. Was an expensive mistake for everyone involved. No one was hurt, thank goodness.
But, it is extremely important when blowing through an underground conduit to be aware of where water might go. It may be best to blow from the other end, as should have been done in this incident.
Wow that's quite the story and good point. I wanted to blow it out this direction because I still had work to do on the end I was blowing from and didn't want a muddy mess. The end it blew out of was already partially backfilled and had the elbows on.
He's not working around switchgear, the way he did it was fine.
Freaked the dog out.
the torn jeans look epic on you so you really should consider wearing them more!
Hmm, I actually think these went in the trash after this video. They get dirt in them then the dirt gets in your boots.
Tha shawl the young lady wears, is the Douglas hunting tartan 👍🏴
I don't know what that means but I'll tell my wife what you said! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Water didn’t go pass your tape. I bet you didn’t use primer when you glued the conduit. Gotta primer and glue to make water tight. Been doing this 50 years.
I mainly work with plumbing and sewer pipe so yes I always use primer before glue.
Not sure why they filled so easily. The tape job wasn't the best and they were under water for a day or two before I pumped it down.
