Interesting theory. Unlike Joe Pfeiffer I now see more possible references than the attic. “Safe behind the Wall”, for example of course. The storm might be The Liberation, which was well under way when the Franks were betrayed and the hearts that should fight The Resistance. Ditto “nine hours passed, how long will it last”…a bombing blitz?, “a real riot” as a call to arms “to bite like a snake”. “Throwing off your mask” is being exposed. I could go on. Of course I might be talking utter rubbish.
