The still frames of Rem/Subaru and their children are actually scenes from the Sloth IF story, an alternative route where Rem decided to run away with Suabru in episode 18. It was an easter egg for the source readers and for anime onlys a visualisation of her future getting taken from her.
If I'm not mistaken. The Rem being forgotten about is hinted at around episode 20 or so of season 1. She wrote the letter to Emilia and when she got "consumed" by Gluttony, the memory of the letters contents faded away too. That's why they assumed it was a declaration of war in the form of a blank letter.
When Rem got consumed by the White Whale, even her room became empty (which Subaru checks, and we know the memory erasure didn't affect him). So I think the letter literally became blank as well.

As to why Felis would be crying so much over Crusch’s prone body, you see how much he loves her. If I saw someone I loved being so badly hurt, I think I could break down and cry too. Even if he healed her, the emotional impact could hit afterwards. It’s really a traumatic moment.

I have no idea why some dimwits made you watch same scene twice. Director's Cut end credits is just the beginning of season 2 episode 1 scene, nothing new in it. It was just teaser for season 2 as when DC came out season 2 was almost coming out so they gave that end credits scene to get people hyped for S2 start. Oh well at least you watched it twice.
A bit of information about the history of the animation. This season was released during Covid and after a large portion of the staff went over to work on Mushoko Tensei. Covid really hit the seasons animation. The first 6 episodes were made before lockdown so they are completely made in studio. However the rest of the season isn’t fully made before lockdown. Usually in animation multiple episodes are worked on at the same time and in advance. Which is why the first 6 are completely made in studio while other episodes are a mix of in studio and from home. That's why many people say that S2 animation wasn't good but that is mainly because of Covid
10:38 “He (Puck) remembers her (Rem).” No, he doesn’t. I guess the liberal translation confused you. I think the sub said something like, “I have a connection with this girl too, remember?” That “remember” word probably was a bad choice. I would have translated Puck’s speech as, “I too have some connection/relationship with this girl too, right?” which implies that Subaru probably told everyone that they once knew her but for some reason has forgotten her.
Whoever told you to watch the end-credit scene of the director's cut of season 1 so you wouldn't be confused going into season 2 just ended up creating more confusion xD Gotta crowd source that stuff or at least get a second opinion. No one is right all the time. I will say leaving season 1 off on "Who is Rem?" leaves a way different impression on an audience and creates a lot more anticipation for more Re:Zero. How does Crusch have her arm back after it was cut off? Well, Rem does attempt to give her immediate first-aid, staunching the bleeding and dulling the pain. We don't have a great view of that hand motion Rem does to her face, it does look like the typical "honoring the dead by closing their eyes" motion. Could also be that Crusch passed out from the pain and Rem closed her eyes anyway to help her rest or maybe she was just gently caressing her to show care and compassion. It's not well explained, but it does just seem like the writers wanted to crank up the tension of the scene by making it seem like Crusch died in that moment. Perhaps healing works like in other shows with fictional power systems and with powerful enough healing magic you can reattach an arm if it's recoverable and not too much time has passed. Like with Machi from Hunter x Hunter's Nen Stitches, you can reconnect muscle tissue, nerves and bones seamlessly so that an arm works just as well as it did before. Perhaps that's what Felis, the Kingdom's most prominent healer did. What's going on with people's memory? Well we know that the White Whale, who Puck referred to as Gluttony could erase--or consume people's entire existence by means of it's Fog of Elimination. This Sin Archbishop who is representing Gluttony has the power and discretion it seems to eat either someone's name which affects other 's memories of them, their own memories or both. In which case, they become "an empty shell". It's possible Gluttony can even eat someone's dreams or future potential since we see flashes of Rem's wishes of a future with Subaru (I wish you guys could've seen the other stills, they're really cute) as she's being "devoured". So it seems the Sin Archbishop can choose how and what to eat if that wasn't clear before. Of the people who survived the attack from the Archbishops, some were just injured and some lost their memories in addition. Also, they make mention of not only people losing their memories all over the capital, but also that "sleeping beauty disease" which is a perfect descriptor of what seems to have befallen Rem.
For Crusch, I think that Subaru reset many times (implied by the zoom-ins on the knife) and her being alive was the best result he could get, unable to change Rem's fate. She seems dead before Subaru resets, considering Ferris's reaction. The blank letter implies that Rem and her were already attacked by the time Subaru made it to the Roswaal domain, quite a while before his checkpoint, so whatever happened against the Archbishops doesn't get a redo. But maybe she was still alive for the duration of the battle against Sloth, and by hurrying the carriages on their way to the Capital they reached her in time for Ferris to heal her.
@@naghar9827no. Crusch never died. Crusch loosing her arm and Rem being forgotten happened ever since the Blank letter episode. So all the way back in episode 22 she was already attacked. And I don't think we can say for certain that nothing changed between loops. Crusch was definitely dead, and Felix was not able to heal her in time. Something had to have changed in second loop for him to have made it in time to heal Crusch.
@@HaruhiDream5339Imo Subaru just told the carriages to hurry back to the Capital asap and they got here in time to save Crusch who bled out in the original loop. That's what it looks like in the anime, at least. I don't remember the novels well enough to know if they contradict this.
@@HaruhiDream5339Crusch was never dead
I think maybe Crusch died the first time but when Subaru killed himself maybe something changed and she didn't die or lose an arm. I'm just speculating tho
Nothing could have changed, since that scene happened long before Subaru's checkpoint in the wagon. Felix is just the best healer in the country, so as long as somebody isn't dead, he can probably save them.
