    • @jimmyking7386
      @jimmyking7386 4 года назад +6

Sponsors are great, I think it's miraculous that creators who's livelihoods were sabotaged by google and the "apocalypse". however, I'm much more understanding of creators who use sponsors/patreon when they've been demonetized by youtube/google. However, I have less sympathy for creators who are making their 100% ad revenue (and generally, vastly non-demonetized content) who feel the need to capitalize to the max by interrupting the video and shilling for something online.
As far as the "reminders" to subscribe and such, I feel like they're more pointless than they seem. I don't know anyone who sees these and says "oh good golly, I forgot to subscribe! Good thing he reminded me! :D" The amount of effect this actually has on rates of subscription is greatly overestimated. At the end of the day, I don't imagine it helps actually raise subscription levels, and just comes off as irritating to the user.
I totally sympathize, (especially for those with demonetized content, 100% hands down), but personally, it's incredibly pestering and unnecessary. There are many other "less intrusive" methods of getting people to subscribe. I think that 99% of people are going to subscribe because they enjoy the content of the video - not because they had an irritating popup/interruption by the creator asking them to.
I, for one, regret subscribing in the first place whenever I hear these.
I also think that the majority of people who hear the "remember to subscribe" are ALREADY subscribers - whereas the ones that HAVEN'T subscribed, aren't going to subscribe based on that little "reminder" alone. They will subscribe based on whether they like the content or not.
...and when they subscribe because they like the content (like 99% of people do), now they've gotta listen to that shitty little reminder in every single video, regardless of how ineffective it is.
I dunno. This has been just bugging me for a while. I'm totally not trying to argue or be a dick or anything but this has just been on the top of my tongue for a while xD

I have been 8 times to Egypt, each time living in floating hotels! I saw one looking like an old papyrus boat, and sometimes mooring outside each other, with a common pass through all (Hopefully remembering where you lived?).
But the last time, some years ago, was rather sad with hardly any ships sailing on the Nile any more, and no queues at most sites along the trip.
But I had a special visit to King Farouks former old paddle steamer (used in "Murder on the Nile", with Peter Ustinov) being restored in Luxor at my early trips, also with armed guards on the buss, after a massacre on German tourists a short time before!

I was one of the Australian Navy Divers who stayed onboard the floating hotel for a few days whilst we survey the extent of the the munitions dump site. It was approximately a few football fields in size and there were piles of anti tank mines 8ft high and 30 feet in diameter across the area. A marine survey was supposedly done prior to locating the hotel at the location so I do not understand how the dump site was missed. Due to the cost of removing the ordnance and also the fact that there was too much ordnance to render safe it was deemed to be ok to leave it there.

You are in a floating hotel in a coral reef, why in the world are you interested in doing anything but scuba diving or anything of that nature!? You can have live entertainment in any other place in the world! If I go to ski resort, I don't complain about there not being any cinema at the resort because I went there to ski! I stayed in that floating hotel! omg.
I visited NK (I'm South Korean) when I was around 13 back in 2003? 2004? ish.
It may not seem like it but it is super dizzy as hell. Since its center of mass is so high up compared to that of a boat, even a very small wave or water movement rocks the whole hotel. I couldn't sleep on the first night and got sea sick from it.
The visit to NK was cool tho. My family climbed some mountains, went to the hotsprings and played on the beaches.
Met few NK people along the hike, but not sure if they were "set up" by NK government or not... now that I think about it...
    But good memories altogether.

I have heard of stories where the DPRK's government will send "locals" out for tourists. They're essentially actors who either keep an eye on tourists like spies or pretend like the country is alot better than it is. There was one story I read by a travel writer and while on holiday in North Korea they got a "surprise invitation" by a teacher to tour the local school where kids wearing perfect uniforms recited perfectly choreographed patriotic songs and dances, and every time the teacher asked a question no matter how difficult a kid would immediately answer (rather than try and solve the problem they were obviously just given the answer and trained to "solve" it on queue). Sometimes rich tourists or politicians also women randomly start hitting on them and offer to go back to their room, some people say its to try and draw more tourists in/make the country seem nicer while some people say its an extortion racket/honeypot.

It's a neat prefab idea of sorts, for building a decked out luxurious hotel in a new region, I think this is why it made bank in Vietnam. Put it on a riverbank, and in ten years move it to a new place. Like a mobile gentrification unit.
