    I have a 97 and I love it. Bought it from my cousin who bought it brand new from the dealership new and it was stored inside. Pushed it through a foot of snow and held it down in the back of my dad's truck in 30 degree weather. Ran into carb issues after doing only an oil change and getting new spark plug. Took it up to a shop that screwed up a few things (didn't mount the tire correctly and put the wrong size chain on it) and had to take it back a few times. They rebuilt the carb, fixed the clutch and put new tires on. Went to local parts shop and bought really nice chain for it. Sold it to my brother and bought it back a fee years later when I realized he wasn't riding it. Just flushed the rust out of the tank, did an oil change and we're reunited and it feels so good!

    Just picked up a 2001 KLR250 with just under 6k miles and only paid $1500. The previous owner (a buddy of mine) had just gotten it back from getting serviced, so it has brand new tires, a brand new battery, brand new chain and sprockets (-1fr/+2rr), brand new brake pads, and a fresh oil and coolant change. I've owned almost a dozen bikes, but they've all been dirt bikes or street bikes. This is my first dual-sport and I've gotta tell you...I'm hooked. I mostly use this one for bombing around on scenic backroads in my area and it is absolutely perfect for that. Great video, btw. I'm a firm believer of these bikes now!!!

      cavediverjc Thanks for the comment! Sounds like you got a real killer deal. These bikes can be a lot of addictive fun lol. I put new sprockets on mine last year I believe, however I had an issue on re-install. I just made a video updating my situation and what I found with my sprocket dilemma, be sure to keep a look out for the video! Appreciate the comment bro! Have fun and Ride safe!

      i just got a 2001 for the same price with 11k miles, i need to figure out how to restore the plastics and gas tank somehow because theyre painted, other then that its basically mint besides a bit of wear and tear from it being 25 years old. cant wait to get my license and ride it in the backroads this year, cant see myself ever owning a dirt bike or street bike XD

    I have a 1989 klr 250 that I bought from Bob's Motorcycle Salvage in Phoenix for $600,I had to rebuild the motor because someone ran it without oil, I put a mohive 300 cylinder and piston and the head also from the mohive, the piston and cylinder came from wisco, also the cam too, I put a supertrapp muffler on, new brakes, kenda 270 tires, extra heavy duty tubes, and 16oz's of slime in them,I have a few things that I need to do to it yet, I have to buy a klr 650 shock for it because it is rebuildable, also to get it to fit you have to open up the inside the lower mount to fit, I also need to get a heavier spring for it and rebuild the seat

    Excellent video, they are a great bike, bought a 93 as the 4th owner with 15K miles on it, last year as a learning bike. Everyone said I was crazy for buying such an old bike. I was looking at a new KLX 250 but glad I went with this as that thing can take a beating from a newb like me. Put it down 3 times just since I got it so far (my fault) and it still begs for more punishment.

    The drop in horsepower in newer models was due to emission restrictions and it was easily reversed.

    just bought my 93 today, I paid 1000 and the bike has 6000 miles on it.. the only thing is the heat sensor was removed by the previous owner, which he gave me to install myself.. but I feel like it gets really hot almost as soon as I turn it on. but it runs fine, does yours get hot fast too?

    • @manicmotox4214
      @manicmotox4214  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Shane Powers, in my experience it does warm up fairly quickly. It has never gotten really hot off the bat. The only time I have noticed it starting to get hot is if I am trail riding it and giving it quick bursts of throttle frequently. Other than that, seems to run warmed up, but not hot. I apologize for taking so long to reply, been extremely busy last few weeks. I appreciate the comment!
