Tia, you’re the sweetest for doing the Tia for Scale despite your anxiety but don’t ever feel like doing so is more important than your stress levels. First and foremost, we’re here to share in the joy you and Cheveyo have in exploring the world. (Though Tia for Scale is my favorite…right next to finding Big Things and Cheveyo’s sigh whenever you’re able to sneak one into the itinerary). 😃
I think the mere fact she can now do these things ,despite her anxiety ,shows ,she is growing and learning to cope .
Yes, this should please all those people complaining earlier about the beauty of the USA. Nice video!
Wow! Watching Tia's heart-rate skyrocket in crowds
independently validated her expressions of anxiety.
It's not that I didn't believe her.
It just shows that she has no control over the phenomenon.
Big Hugs to you, Tia! [Look after her, Cheveyo].
Anxiety can be really debilitating. Cheveyo is so understanding and supportive. The thing is Tia, people likely only notice you because you are pretty 😊...so that's not so bad.
I think I just about ruptured something when I saw Tia's "Gold". Sorry sweet lady but that was floaty and, therefore, Mica chips. Not even "fools gold". Not saying gold wasn't in that there stream but it would be much lower down in the sand as it is heavy. Real gold of the episode was that beautiful scenery you were immersed in. Really nice.
From two Danes, who loves to travel the US. Please do more ordinary grocery shopping in your videos. We love it!
It’s one of our favourite things to do when we travel and it brings back so many memories 😍
Loved the scenery in this episode! Thank you 😊 and thank you Tia for normalising anxiety x
That drone shot after the mug of wine moment :) looks amazing! It doesn’t even look real. It almost looks entirely CGI:) Captures the “idyllic” scene perfectly. And the “green” and the “lush”. :) I like how Tia is still inside the van, cause it feels like the drone shot is almost just another perspective of that previous moment. But also because it ends up feeling less posed for. Like if u Tia were just standing beside Cheveyo outside the van. Feels like the drone is actually just capturing a moment rather than creating it :) Looks really cool. The way Cheveyo is smiling as the drone is pulling away is kinda funny too because it looks almost like he knows what that shot is capturing and is getting a kick out of it lol. The whole way that whole scene plays out is super engaging. From the moment Tia is backing up the van, the playful moment at the window, the bottle of wine purchase fail, or not fail as Cheveyo contends, the mug of cheap wine moment, plus talking about how amazing of a view it is, and then ending that scene with SHOWING it. Very cool sequence :) Tia you should make that drone shot one of the giveaway postcards. And please save me one :)
Thank you for this, it was very nice to read and made us both smile 😊
Coming to you soon, the new Tia Turbo! It's got speed, it's got scale, and is one smart cookie.
😂😂😂😂😂
Tia, I too have the same anxiety. I bought an apple watch about a year ago and it tells me the same when i'm standing in a queue, 120 to 140 bpm. I've become so accustomed to being anxious that it is normal life to me. And it has been good to have my watch tell me when it's happening, because it is helping me learn exactly when and what causes anxiety spikes. Something I don't think people realise is that it is not a conscious anxiety, its a fight or flight response. You're not thinking about something consciously that produces the anxiety.
Love your vanlife series so far! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you guys get a van for your Australian return adventure!!
You will need flyscreens for Australia
Yes me too as i am about to do that too
They would see a lot more in a 4WD ute
Having lived in Northern California for many years, now back in Australia, the scenery felt like home to me. So beautiful, the lush green, the trees, the waterways. That will always feel like home to me. Have a lovely trip, lovely guys 😊
MIca, as others have said before me. My hometown in Montana has streams and soil full of that too. Vermiculite is cool stuff, unfortunately the mine in Libby pulled out the bad kind with asbestos fibers in it and now many of us have asbestos related diseases. But you are seeing the beautiful safe kind, adding sparkle to an already beautiful place.
Suggestion for australia return. You said finish lap which to me would mean mainly northern west australia. Suggesting sydney, blue mountains, dubbo, into queensland and then via mount isa to broome. Youd see more of the bush and not have to retrace much. Just an idea if you got plenty time. Otherwise i suggest you also fly to tasmania and check it out.... tasmania is awesome
IT'S MICA GUYS , IT'S CALLED "FOOL,S GOLD". Your travels look fabulous. My husband and I travelled from Melbourne to Cape York and then back and down to Tasmania, in 1981 in series 2 Land Rover. It took 7 months. It was the most amazing time of my life. Do it while you are young. I wish we had the technology you guys have to record such memories back then. Enjoy every minute of the trip. Cheers, Muffy from Oz.
They said iron pyrite/fools gold
Love the tree. Nature is amazing . Hope you got the gold Love from Australia. ❤❤
That tree was amazing! If that had been in Australia they would've cut it down by now (along with the wildlife) and made it wood chips.
@@hereandthere6001hmmm, not sure that is a fair comment. Have you visited the Valley of the Giants in the Walpole Wilderness Area in Western Australia? Or the tall trees around Denmark in Western Australia ?
@@sodrav theres very little greenery in WA and what is there will burn. Its a fact, haven't you seen that truck carting an old growth forest trunk down the middle of hobart? It was enormous. If you try to stop them thats what they'll do until theres nothing left. We also have the worst record for loss of animal species in a 200 year period. Bugger the wild life and our indigenous, they'll keep cutting it down or digging it up and shipping it out. That's what our economy relies on. Sorry to get political on here but its a sad fact.
I am from Australia and you have inspired me to travel for a few months when i get my long service leave around Australia
You guys seriously deserve so many more subscribers with all the effort you guys put into these videos. Love the positive vibes and shots throughout. These videos always lift my spirits
Fresh fish from that “gold” speckled river would have been nice! Gold flakes? Probably mica particles. Mica isn’t edible but when ground up into a fine powder, it’s often used in makeup such as eye shadows and blushes.
So after watching this video it's easier for me to understand why people say Australia reminds them of California, there were quite a few scenes there where if I didn't know better I could be convinced you were in Australia. It's great I've never seen this side of the USA before so thank you both.
Fun fact when I was young some states in Australia had double yellow lines in the middle of the road, not any more (cost cutting, I guess when you have enough km of road the difference in price between white and yellow paint makes a difference)
You two are gold ❤
Vanlife Vibes! Enjoyed every moment of your journey! From boondocking to exploring Sequoia, felt like was right there with you.
Beautiful 🌲 trees & lakeside camping spot :)
Love following your journey. Thank you both for your awesomeness & the joy you bring xx
Awwwww Tia thank you for sharing Tia for scale with us under those circumstances. You are amazing and beautiful & brave & we love you. Cheveyo thank you for supporting Tia in the most beautiful kind & loving way. You guys are just such a good example of the most beautiful people!
I’d love to see you travel like this when you return to Aus. I can now see why people liken California & Australia
I am surprised how busy it is. I visited Sequoia about twenty years ago and we literally had it to ourselves. Well done Tia. Social anxiety is no fun.
Some beautiful landscapes and because I’m weird and a bit tapped in the head, I might start rhyming Vegemite with Yosemite from now on. I always feel that your videos exude positivity. Not sure how you both do it but I appreciate that version. Thanks for sharing your journey and reintroducing the bloopers.
Wow amazing lake views, magnificent trees, countryside & camping spot. Thank you for showing your beautiful country. Van life in the USA suits you both. 😄✌️
If you're doing the Blue Mountains on your Australian return trip, you should definitely check out Newnes Tunnel for a nice walk and the glowworm tunnel (though you'll need to do some light off-roading to get to the track entrance). Jenolan caves are also beautiful!
I laughed throughout this whole video! Can tell you guys are enjoying yourselves with this adventure.
Also really loving the music choices throughout - 5 ⭐️ editing once again!
Go Tia! Way to fight the anxiety to get that Tia For Scale! 💕 More cookies for Tia! 👍
And that's an absolutely gorgeous part of the country. We hope to get there someday...
Hi Tia and Cheveyo,
Loved this episode!
I was surprised to hear that you cant get fresh bread at supermarkets in the USA. Im guessing that means no in-house bakeries in the supermarkets, like they have in Australia?
Did you go back to the 'gold' spot with a metal detector?😀😀. I would have.
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Cheers
Kevin
You can definitely get fresh bread at supermarkets in the US. Most of them have their own bakery and make everything you can find at Cole’s and other big Aussie markets
Its fools gold or malachite . Its in many creeks near old gold fields . Its pretty but brittle. Difficult to find a large peice.
Yay bloopers are back!
Sorry guys, you found Fools Gold 😢. Great video showing your latest adventures. Looking forward to seeing you back in Oz. We are heading to Perth tomorrow and it just occurred to me We are staying at the same place you stayed. Quality Ambassador Perth. Of course we will be going to Rottnest Island and having a selfie with the Quokkas! Must rewatch your Perth visit videos again. Thanks and drive safe.
These parks are by far the best parks I've ever visited. Loved the video. Thank you guys!
Bahahaha, gold in the river!! 😂 Loved this video you guys, as always! Safe travels 😊
Amazing scenery. Reminds me when I backpacked the States in my 20's for 6months driving from the Westcoast to the Eastcoast - so many fabulous places to see. Enjoy.
Love the way you guys are filming these days. Just watched an old episode and you guys have come a looooong way. 👏👏 keep them coming.
This is my favorite van life video! 🧡💚
Good to see "Subscribe" and bloopers back as that really is your trademark from day one, I think we all missed it
I grew up in the area, it's for sure fools gold.
Beautiful!
Wow those are some amazing drone shots
Loved the drone shots - btw, that's the cleanest coffee pot I've ever seen
Very interesting love all the changing scenery awesome job guys
What a beautiful lake! I don’t think you mentioned where it is so I can add it to my bucket list!
Another great share, love travelling with you both. My vote is iron pyrite, I’ve been “fooled” before. Actual gold is really yellow (gold) by comparison. The sparkles are so exciting to find tho. I’m from Australia and very excited for your return. Happy travels.
I'm trying to remember a campsite I stayed at on a road trip in 1990. I think it was called Angel Fire. Amazing orange / red Rock landscape
I do appreciate & love Tia for scale, even if it does cause anxiety 😘😘❤️❤️
As for big trees - you really need to get down to Tasmania when you come back here!!
Hi from Aus, 1) welcome is the return of “suuubscribe” n also the bloopers.
2) pyrite would be my guess too, Cheveyo. It’s said to be harder than gold n not easily etched as gold would be, but what to compare that flake to🤪
3) thanks again for sharing, thanks for combating your anxiety, Tia, so you were able to share.
Beautiful country 😊
van life, I've only seen a few buggy windshield shots. that's quite an accomplishment. tour buses are a good case, some don't even care about their windshields. others, the glass is perfectly clean.
California landscape is as diverse as Australia and just as picturesque!
Idyllic camp spot by the lake!
We also have a Kings Canyon park in the Northern Territory of Aus but vastly different terrain and climate - definitely no snow - but both beautiful!
Beautifully shot as usual!
Thanks for the muted door closure😊
Great campsites on the lake and river!! Nice to see forests, snow and gold lol!
$3 tuna!!? 👀
Do you find it more uncomfortable vlogging in the USA than abroad in crowds?
Hope you keep heading north into Oregon (where we're from). Safe travels always!!
Cali is not what I expected, so diverse and beautiful 😎
Thank you guys for doing this US series. What you said about California I suspect is pretty hard to grasp for those that haven’t been until you see it in perspective - you can literally experience mountains with heavy snow, high desert, lush green forest, sandy beaches, and canyons all within an hours drive of major metropolitan cities. LA County alone would be formidable on the world stage in size of geography and GDP. Looking forward to Yosemite, and all that’s next. Cheers and safe travels.
Great vid as always. 💯✔✔ Beautiful scenery/ Four Seasons in 1 day re weather. I'm with Chev with the creek sand being "fool's gold"! When in the Kimberley's you WILL need a large 4WD to go off track and explore. SO many hidden gems can ONLY be reached by boat!! Pete. Far Nth NSW. 👍ps Another comment Y/tube puts as a "ghost comment"😂😂
Superb video giant redwood and the mojave
You proved all of us wrong, what a sheer beauty it is! I knew it, have been there before and it is just jaw dropping beauty!
Went to Sequoia some years back and tried to reach General Sherman, but the road was closed a few miles ahead due to a landslide. Have been sad about it ever since 😢 we were so close!! glad I now got to experience The General via RUclips
Had a similar experience Tia when in Cali in 2007 such awesome trees but so many people .. if you do come back to Australia check out the swamp gums in Tasmania the largest flowering trees on Earth. Tarkin, Huon and the west coast wilderness.
" I don't care it's gold " a motto to live by .
Yeah I’m with tia. If I’m not coming back to collect it, then I’m gonna believe it’s gold.. but I’ll definitely be smirking when I tell others.
I laughed out loud when you turned on the shower. But what a location to wake up to. If it’s gold to you it’s gold to me.
Driving up that road to Sequoia terrifies me every time! I'm afraid of heights and it affects me on that drive. But the trees are worth it!
Real gold is bright yellow, not just sparkly silvery or pale. It is also heavy by weight. This was a wonderful episode for scenery, you guys! Hi from me in South Australia 🇦🇺
I'd be getting some of those gold flakes just in case !!
It was so exciting 😃
Definitely gold! After the winter storms no doubt that caused large water flow. People go up there to pan all the time.
Nope - wish it was, but no, it's mica - gold doesn't float (that's why panning works - gold's heavy)
The tree actually looks a million times busier than when I was there in the middle of summer! I think you're on to something with everyone going there if most of the park was closed.
such a happy people I am respecting to. :)
Mother of god that tree is majestic.
When you jumped out of the van at 4.00 i wanted to scream ' no, you are going to slip on ice' 😱. But, you didnt 😁
11:00 that campsite is amazing! What a way to spend some time... other than the shower :D
Tia = greatest unit of measure in the universe.
Gotta love Cheveyo’s brutal honesty on wet wipes. 😂👍
Maybe you didn't read the map and are in Norway?😄this much snow or 'be closed'because of the snow, is usually here.
That very beginning shot looked so Wes Anderson. Is that what you were shooting for?
Okay, it's really bizarre to see 'Taylors Farms' salads with the exact same logos as here in NZ. Makes me really sad because it means they're operated by a big multinational business 😢 Thank you for helping me understand the natural beauty of the US, when all we hear over here is the crazy, negative stuff ❤
What lake are is this near Alpine? It’s beautiful!!
I was at the beach the other day in San Diego and the sand looked like that too! I have never seen it before, super curious what makes it gold.
Cheveyo is alls calm and unflappable, especially while driving.
Did we get the name of the lake?
Van life suits you two.... unfortunate that they cost so much but maybe you could buy a fixer-upper???
Fantastic as usual
Subscribe and bloopers 👍👍👍
❤from 🇦🇺
19:47 Tassie trip- go to Bruny Island buy the fresh bread out of the fridge on the side of the road 😉
I wanna say heaps about this video but I'll keep it short and just say, you two are the cutest darn couple on the interwebs!
Turbo Tia would never get her cookies stolen! 🍪
Canadian tuxedo ❤ 😂 and love the banff sweatshirt ❤
I love the denim look it suites Chevie, probably got that spelt wrong 😀
So sorry Tia ... definitely fools gold :)
that supermarket member price annoyance has made it's way to Australia too
Aah ...... using a Moka Pot for coffee. Remember, fill the coffee grinds cup up to a peak, loose ...... don't compress the grinds, let the top do it! I know ive been silly regarding the moka pot, just some non serious fun.
I have very bad social anxiety, too. Even in rooms of just 8 people who are super supportive and positive. My limit used to be an hour of that but I've found that cannabis edibles for anxiety really help. They don't impair my ability to drive and they don't make me sleepy; they just put a buffer zone between me and my surroundings so I don't get overwhelmed. Since you're in CA where cannabis is legal, I suggest you find a gummy that works for you. I have high blood pressure already so taking something natural won't interfere with my Norvasc medication.
Beautiful lake…. 14:19 still waiting for you to tell us where it is though…. 😘😘😂😂
Do you have to pay for your grocery bags like in Australia? You should’ve bought some coleslaw dressing and make up some coleslaw. I love it.
Will
You
Do
The dirt dancing moves on the pot across the stream river bank
Well gday haven't seen u 2 in awhile❤
Sitting on top like that..... Fools Gold 😉
That lakeside stop looked idyllic.
My takeouts from this episode. 1). You had appropriate hiking footwear for at least some of it. 2) You should persevere with coffee in the moka pot. It is so much better than any other American coffee methods. 3). Most food choices in America. (And here in Australia) are not the healthiest. Just heavily processed “crapolla “. Oh and coffee ranking is expresso then moka then maybe French press at a pinch. All other methods make swill.
Sorry, I hate to be a pedant, but it's 'espresso' not 'expresso' - far too common a mistake (but then, the NZ coffee culture is better than Australia, lol! 😅😉) Feel free to take the piss right back (and probably no one other than from NZ and Aussie will understand that last sentence 😂)
