If the engines can grow eyebrows, i think it's possible for them to grow mustaches like Etienne
Makes sense.
My headcanon for the trucks: Alive trucks are build so they can pull their brakes by themselfes, thus saving time by not needing shunters to pull or release the brakes on every single truck of a long train. But because alive trucks can be unpredictable, "normal" trucks are also used.
Didn't think I would see you here
I think all the trucks are alive, but sometimes don't have faces, because reasons.
trucks already have automatic breaking
“Whats stopping diesel 10 from grabbing sir topham hat and throwing him into a brick wall?”
“The age recommendation.”
For the blushing theory I believe that it's the hot water for the steam engines and the electric wires for the desiels. But then engines that have been abandoned can still blush so I'm not sure.
That makes sense.
In real life adding a hydraulic claw on to an engine would most likely be considered illegal unless if it’s approved by governmental authorities.
Maybe Diesel 10 worked in a scrapyard before he came to Sodor.
He’s an experimental diesel
11:54 Sir Handel's design means his wheelbase wasn't built for the Skarloey Railway's track, hence why he gained his "steamroller" wheels. Sir Handel's basis Sir Haydn had this occur when it first arrived on the Talyllyn Railway. Technically, he didn't hyperextend, he fell between the rails.
Well, a lot of things in the books are based on real events.
4:22 No No, No (Leaves Room)
I feel like engines blushing is caused by heat in the boiler rushing to their face
Lady Hat hat sich einfach ne mordsmenge an cash von Topham genomm und sich ne fette Schönheitsoperation gegönnt😂😂
For Toby’s old shed, as stated by the unlucky tug, sir topham hatt bought Toby’s old line in season 5 and he stays there now
Or maybe when Toby’s old railway closed down, his shed was disassembled, and reassembled on Sodor.
1:47 they don't breathe, for instance there is steam team to the rescue where Salty was underwater for a whole night and he was still fine in the morning, they are only catching air to their vents when they are struggling in order to prevent overheating.
they have to be able to "breathe" though. in order for a steam engine to run, particular the ones on sodor, they have to burn coal. in order to burn coal there has to be oxygen, so therefor they have to breathe. in the episode you reference, there was an engine put outta service just that same morning for "flour issues" he was chocking on the flour dust. as for salty coming outta the water that morning, its a cartoon, and especially a CGI cartoon, so we discredit it entirely.
@@TheRealDodger real steam engines dont breathe either. These guys work the same way as real ones, the face has nothing to do with anything else besides the interaction and senses. They only talk and smell, but don't eat or breathe. That's the solution.
I think they just have noses to smell
@@HotBitchInAnUglyBody I think their funnels are their actual noses and the ones on their faces are just cosmetic.
Maybe Salty is just REALLY good at holding his breath!
to answer why they don't stop using the troublesome truck it's actually kinda simple. They don't have enough "Normal" cars.
I don't think it would make a difference, since even the faceless rolling stock can talk, meaning they're also sentient, so it wouldn't matter either way.
2:44
My Theorie
There are not enough faceless trucks
I think the engines dont require air to survive but the still have some kind of lung or air pocket that allows them to speak
Ah yes the answer to all the truly unanswerable questions,
M A G I C
Maybe thomas and percy got use to the scrapyard, plus it was during the day
2:16 Charles and Amanda Hatt
In my theory, the Engine's lungs was the smoke box
yeah but the main issue with pincy is in real life that would be a violation as diesel 10 would have issues going through tunnels as the claw is in the way.
The engines can breathe, because in the song ‘night train’ one of the lyrics mentions them breathing.
Looks like Dowager Hatt has been eating some Vitamin D lately
For the engines to breathe, it varies. The various valves that can release steam into the atmosphere (like the cylinder cocks and whistles) double as air vents. And for diesels, they take air in from their radiators and visible cooling vents, and exhale from the exhaust system
I CANNOT BELIEVE that he left out the “Thomas on the moon” part!
I think the engines breathe through their funnels like a blowhole.
@@ciarangleeson2880 Thomas didn't actually go to the moon in that book. He's a locomotive, not a rocket.
I know, I just thought it was funny that the book was acknowledged.
8:43
They probably used leverage and used boards to lift him back on the rails. You can see this same technique used in a talyllyn railway documentary "Railway with a heart of gold".
The reason why the tugs have british accents if the show takes place in america is because tugs is a british show
Also they might’ve been built in Britain, but then transported to America
I think the wiki actually confirms this.
Troublesome trucks are needed for plot convinence, so they can't really take out the trucks
2:27 probably because there is a big fleet of trucks and it would be expensive to replace all the ones with faces
They dont just use faceless trucks because they need more T O Y S so they give the odd one names
2:40 I think it is because Sodor is a safe haven for engines, and maybe sir Topham fears if he sends then to the mainland they will be scrapped.
The reason why they probably still use trucks with faces is because there’s just so many trucks with faces and it cost a lot of money just to get new trucks without faces
Exactly. It would be so costly and time-wasting to replace all those trucks
8:42 I say you should never underestimate the strength in numbers.
My theory is the magic dust from Magic Railroad is also responsible for bringing the engines to life
I just think they simply are sentient.
9:09 engines feel tired when it run out of steam not fire
I understand the argument that blushing is caused by heat from steam or the boiler, and not blood, but that doesn't account for James experiencing swelling from his bee sting. Swelling is caused by blood rushing to the afflicted area, like blushing is.
Plus, I believe we do see an engine sporting blood shot eyes in a RWS illustration.
So in my mind, they kinda have to have blood.
"Scruffy was in pieces, but was still alive" That's because he's a freight car, not a locomotive.
Doesn’t matter. He’s still a sentient object
@@armorpro573 That's not the point, I was saying the rules might be different for different vehicles.
@@parker-boy98 Maybe
I think the engines lungs would be there fire boxes
I think the boiler
And the electric and diesel engines lung is their motor
I think they can't have lungs due to the fact thqt they would get very warmed with the coal burning
Going on the whistle thing I figured the funnel would be the you know. But that makes me feel bad for Peter Sam😂
Also, I don't think the engines could survive underwater, because their fireboxes would be doused and possibly damaged. Thus effectively drowning them. Also, I think they breathe through their funnels, like a blowhole.
1. Stepney is owned by the NWR in the later seasons with him.
2. After Oliver found Toby’s old shed, the line was restored and now Toby sleeps in the shed.
3. The tender one is outdated.
4. Frankly, the one about old lettering is stupid. That’s like someone going up to NJ Transit’s Heritage ALP-46 and asking “Why haven’t they repainted this PRR locomotive yet?”
I don’t know about the original series, but in the reboot, Farmer McColl has a wife and daughter.
7:22
The Spiteful Brakevan DID have a black eye after Douglas broke him to pieces, so I guess they can get black eyes.
forgot that lorry 1 also had one after he crashed
Also I feel like the Culdee Fell engines are basically similar to Mighty Mac. Basically two faces on each end of the locomotive.
Actually, Lorry 2 crashed.
No oxygen-no steam
Another question: Do engines grow? Were they kids? Can they get puberty?
No I think they dont grow, but their voice do change
They don't grow, they were never children but they can mature
Trains cant breath because in blue mountain victor fell in the ocean and he survived
He didn’t fall in entirely! He landed on a jetty, remember?
I think the whole situation with Stepney in the TV Series with him being on Sodor is that he’s a replica of the actual LBSC #55 Stepney who was built at some point when Fat Hatt was a kid and worked on either the S&M or W&S. How he was left in that scrapyard, I can see him becoming chairman Albert Regaby’s private engine who then gave him up for scrap sometime before he retired. And then cue many years later Rusty finding Stepney and bringing him to his new home. As for Stepney’s living situation on Sodor, it’s stated that Stepney was visiting Fat Hatt’s *railway*, and he even described his line as another railway plus there’s another guy described as his manager, so the Stepney in the TV Series universe lives on Sodor but lives on a privately owned tourist line that isn’t part of the NWR.
Now it's properly hearted! xD
@@mpaspr Thanks
They do not have enough trucks for everyone
In a youtubers Thomas series Daisy says it's paint not make up.
Also in Victor Tanginz series he explains this by a "first firing" then when they die it's a "final firing." It's mostly by chance.
In another RUclips series the trucks being mischievous is a stereotype and a vocal minority that is largely overexaggerated on.
i headcanon that diesel 10's driver is PT boomer
Steven and Bridget's father is Charles Topham Hat.
Engines on the talyllyn railway in wales actually have been levered back on track before
My theory for lady Jane hatt’s age is because the fat controller probably had a previous wife or lover who bore his kids but after their children grew she might have divorced, or broken up with topham or died and so the fat controller married Jane.
Maybe
And I wouldn't rely on Stories of Sodor for information, since it's a fan series.
I think they breath and they don’t have lunges but one they breath it brings oxygen to the fire to lite it and keep it lit so there fire would go out under water.
8:42 i mean Duncan is a narrow gauge engine so its easy to pick him up
10:35 and for trevor well he just likes the children happy that's all
Narrow gauge engines are so light That can back onto rails
@lmrstudioproductions6676 Duncan weighs 8 tons, so he is probably quite heavy
Head cannon: engines are immortal, Stevenson rocket is still (aka Steven) so does this mean there is no end to the railway series?
8:37 it is because in season 5 oilver found his old shed
I don't think the Island of Sodor is actually toy-sized, because Lily and Bernett are normal-sized when they travel there too. If it was toy-sized, Lily would be giant in comparison. And Thomas would be tiny when travelling to the real world.
Never thought of that
Actually an engine could survive but couldn't move due to the fire in their smokeboxes going out as fire needs an oxygenated environment to burn.
Habe dich gerade entdeckt, sehr coole Idee.
Simple the people that build the trucks in the Thomas and Friends Universe don't tell they're buyers that they're alive or if they're not alive and since Sir Topham has a sauce pot and you know the trucks must cost a lot I don't think he'll just scrap them
The reason they don't just use faceless trucks is probably because it would be a waste of time, money, and materials.
My head cannon is tugs eyes are one way mirrors so they have operators
i think they do breathe, remember how a narrow gauge engine drowned in a swamp
2:14 charles
That's because their metal gets rusted
Duncan could weight maybe 10tons
Nice
I just realised your German like myself
11:56 AWDRY PREDICTED AEG
500 Like!
That's me! 😎
i would like to think the trucks without faces are just some random stock throughout England and other railways and the trucks with faces where built in sodor
Sehr cooles Video hat mir gefallen
I disagree about the whole removal face thing as in the RWS book Henry and the express when Henry is that wellsworth it's shown that hit the back of his Smoke Box door is broken I think the face just acts as the smokebox door and you can tell that Henry's face is a little red and beaten up and we also know that the driver could still open the smokebox even with the face on
7:02 LMAO
CUZ THE TRUCK'S ARE *E S E S E N T L E*
I'll answer the feelings one. In context with the scene here, Thomas never got mad towards a female he never met before, so he was confused on why he did this and on what happened and such and that he said it to someone that was normally done to the people he was close to, yet mad cuz he was in a hurry and a lot of jealousy. not infatuated. in other words, is just a way of putting out cute expressions cuz he doesn't know what to say. To explain how intimate feelings work out on sentient non-living things, I'm gonna have to give an example of another being that has the right to feel those things. Gems from the modern cartoon show Steven Universe can have these feelings as well. but they can do things with it, one thing is they can fuse to become one completely new gem that symbolises their love for each other. they can also date and get married as shown in the wedding between Ruby and Sapphire. However, they can't start a family cuz if they do, their part as a gem and themselves will be gone. But for trains like Thomas and Ashima, they can distribute it through words but cant with their actions because their mobility is limited. they cant date, get married and or fuse like the gems.
so yea the answer is, they can have intimate feelings for each other but they can't do anything with it.
How can the tumbleweed from Thomas and the Magic Railroad talk despite not having a face?
Magic I guess
Well, DUH!
I have a question for you, what happens after an engine has a horrific crash and it kills them, what happens to the engine?
They probably get cut up and the few parts that are still intact are used for other engines. The rest probably gets melted down for something else to be made of the metal. I don't think they have a real funeral for the engine.
Or … DO they?😧
Maybe it's because the trucks with faces I just so much more and then it's impossible to just use non alive trucks
Engines need oxygen because you need oxygen to burn fire in a staem engine and to run a diesel motor in a diesel engine! Amd engines can die of sinking it shows how the engine from duncan gets spooked died!
For the Diesel 10 throwing topham question, you really think pinchy can reach that far?
And also, he’d likely get scrapped should he try and murder the Fat Hatt
Yeah that's his boss. Also, with that logic, what's stopping the engines from running over people on the tracks? Simply, they choose not to.
Can you link the video you are talking about at 6:35?
ruclips.net/video/lBvVBWxLWMI/видео.html It starts at 8:35
S.S. Roxstar has been seen going around
the trains in Thomas don't breath they don't have nostrils look at their noses
Have you SEEN Toby’s nose?
Not too fond of the answers you gave personally. They seem too simple but it's personal answers and I don't want my comment here to seem rude towards you.
7:01 Or it’s like anesthetics
I liked the Theory of late Jurassic as well but the moast lats watching tihs Video
Dont know how he is so saying Taht IT IS his theory IS Unnecessary
Well for the tugs accent they’re all uk dub the USA were not release
Probably the reson why the nwr cant stop using trucks with faces is probably trucks with faces are cheaper for railways to afford because no other railway wants trouble cauising trucks
Note: You’ll need to re-heart the comment I just made, I was editing it and for some reason the hearts disappear when you edit comments.
Okay
I just realised why RUclips automatically unhearts comments when they get edited! It's for when you get a hearted comment, and then edit political opinions, N*zi Propaganda or other stuff in the comment. That way it doesn't look like you are a N*zi or Communist.
@@mpaspr Okay then, but I’m not a Nazi or a Communist, and I wasn’t writing Nazi or Communist crap…
Yes, if course you didnt write that, that was just a general solution for RUclips, if some weirdo does that.
@@mpaspr Okay then, also the theory with TV Series Stepney being around on Sodor at the time of the S&M and W&S also doesn’t just have to do with why he’d be left rotting on Sodor in the first place (as for why his driver was still with him at the scrapyards after all those decades even after being withdrawn, maybe he still chose to visit him every now and then to see how he was doing and kept the driver uniform) but also related to how in the “Thomas-saurus Rex” book it’s stated that Stepney was around when Fat Hatt was just a little kid, and maybe his Grandfather was the controller of either one of the S&M or W&S.
