Chimney Rock Park, North Carolina

Chimney Rock Park, a popular mountain destination in North Carolina, is known for its views atop a 315 for rock spike. Easy access is via an elevator but I opted for the stairs (almost 500 steps to Chimney). Other highlights include Gneiss Cave, the Grotto, Subway, Pulpit Rock, Exclamation Point, Devils Head, Opera Box, and the Sky Lounge. The end of the Hickory Nut Falls Trail takes one to the base of the 404 ft falls. Near the Animal Discovery Den is the Great Woodland Adventure Trail which has numerous educational stations for the younger generation explorers. There are numerous picnic tables scattered around the park as well as an amphitheater and outdoor educational classroom. There is an admission fee for the park but worth it to explore this great little spot.
