I remember reading the books in 2012 at the library and it made the school years less lonely. I literally can't remember details of the plot now but the feeling of having read the first and second series will always be one of my best memories. Hope the show gains the immense success it deserves, as well as being an adaptation that does the stories justice.
Never read these books but your comment reminds me of going to the library after school in the 80's and doing the same thing for probably the same reasons. I wish I could enjoy the library in that way again!
Thank God someone else has the same experience as me. I felt a little bit bad. Maybe 5 years ago I could recount the first 5 books and The Heroes of Olympus word for word like I read them yesterday but it's been awhile and a lot of things have happened in my life since then and now they've finally brought it back to live action and I'm just hoping it will all come back to me as I watch the show and see all the set pieces I used to only be able to imagine
It means it has the potential to be popular. OR it COULD be disney+'s nest big flop. I LOVED the series in middle school when I read it with friends. The books were fantastic. This does have more promise than the movie tho.
@@ginajones3992Or is it because the original books had a large fan base that is still alive to this day and that we were waiting for a proper adaptation of the books?
I saw the thought process but the song choice just didn't work for this trailer. The footage looks good but the track just sucks so much energy out of it.
I love seeing all the comments of people expressing how much Percy Jackson means to them, and I am so excited for all the kids that are going to come to this amazing story through the TV show. I have so much faith in both Rick Riordan and Jonathan Steinberg - this show is going to be epic! This teaser gave me goosebumps, I can't wait
"I do not make films for children... or, at least, not primarily for children." "You're dead if you aim for kids." "We design the films to appeal to ourselves." "The adults have the money; ... children don't have any money." - Walt Disney
i don't know why but the "you're gonna have to be brave now" line just sends shivers down my spine because, as someone who read the entire riordanverse, i can say that percy goes through so much in each book and it's making me emotional
I thought the same, on the other teaser youcan see the gates of the underworld, and ares coming close to percyon abeach for the final battle just as in the book
THIS ONE TIME IN A STORE WHEN I JUST FINSIHED PERCY JACKSON LIKE IN 4TH OR 3RD GRADE RIPTIDE CAME ON AND THE LYRICS ARE LIKE “lady running down to the riptide taken away to the darkside” AND IT MADE ME THINK THAT THE LADY WAS ANNABETH AND SHE WAS LIKE GOING TO THE DARKSIDE AND RIPTIDE IS THE NAME OF PERCYS Sword SO IT MADE SENSE AND I GOT NOSTALGIC AND NOW ITS IN THE TRAILER
Hearing Riptide in the beginning is everything I have been listening to that song thinking about the sword for a lot of my life and finally seeing them both together is incredibly cathartic.
@@ToyStoryboy2009 well we are getting a Kane Chronicles animated series on Netflix and Riordan has said that if all five books of the original PJO books are adapted he will do the HoO series. Just means we gotta support it by any means necessary.
As much as I'd love that, the changes they're making will make it harder to do the second series. Like Percy being blonde. Jason's whole deal is kinda being the opposite of Percy and "the Golden Boy". Especially since the entire premise of the series was "book accuracy"
When I read books I have different voices for different characters, and my own voice for the narration. Percy's voice was the exact voice that was in my mind, when I read the books. And, let me tell you I am pumped this Christmas.
This means something to me man. I've reread the books countless times. Easily my favourite teen series. This trailer does the books so much justice. I know it seems like the bare minimum, but they actually have all the locations from the books, unlike a certain movie. Seeing the beach house, Gateway Arch scene, the love boat, Ares. I cannot wait for this series to come
i’m crossing my fingers that this show gets to be as big as Stranger Things or Wednesday. The book series is absolutely phenomenal and I have high hopes for the show.
@@puterboy2 The Harry Potter books were set in the 90s but the movies used the time when they were released (2000s). Honestly, I think that’s the intent. For Percy Jackson to be the new Stranger Things. Tween characters going on a fantastical adventure with emotions building and themes of growing up and finding your place in the world.
The Percy Jackson books have been my all time favorite books for a long time now, I’m really hoping this holds up to my expectations. Riordan’s written a lot in the years since the Peter Johnson movies were released, plenty of content to adapt
I was a very lonely in middle/high school and reading these books brought me a lot of joy. They made me feel like I was going on insane adventure with the coolest kids ever. I’m so glad to see it being adapted!!!
I grew up in a pretty bad household, didn’t know who my father was and stuff wasn’t much better at school. Percy Jackson gave me an escape to a fantasy world where I would have the answers to the mysteries surrounding my childhood. I’m so happy to see this series and the way it’s so accurately representing the books. I hope the series is as good as the trailer and we get to see more. Thank you Rick riordan and everyone involved in the making of this adaptation of the book.
I grew up with a mostly absent father and lots of problems in school, so I get that too. I was actually expelled in grade 3, due to symptoms of undiagnosed ADHD and behavioral issues resulting from my parents separating. Percy makes me feel normal. Like even though I'm not some hero, I don't feel so bad about being kicked out of school. I don't feel so stupid when I see Percy, because he's so dynamic. Immature and ridiculous and dumb, and also serious, unexpectedly smart, and skilled beyond measure. But Nico was the one who made me feel like I could have the future I wanted. I'll never be able to thank Rick enough for these books ❤
I’m lucky to not grow up in bad household even though my parents skip they still are friends. So I happy that the series made u feel good and happy as if you belong. Much love to u❤❤❤
I am a History teacher. I watched the film at theater and then I read the books! I was so happy when one of my students started growing a taste for reading, for History and for Greek Mythology (among others) through Percy Jackson! Other students followed a similar path. I remember getting emotional on how people - children, teenagers - could really improve themselves, connect to each other and change despite how hard life had been hitting them. At least in those pages and many others the could have the world and also think about different lessons and perspectives for their lives! I feel happy for you, too!
Ikr! Idk how but its like they got the whole set for Camp Half Blood from my imagination!! Honestly, all credits go to uncle Rick. He just wrote the books so beautifully that we can imagine the whole surrounding so accurately.
There's something about the color scheme, the song and the overall vibe of the show that's familiar and in turn, comforting. I read Percy Jackson when I was younger and it's so nice to be able to experience that childhood comfort of the books again through this series. I'm so excited for it to come out!
Why should we support someone who clearly cares so little for his stories that his own fans have to remind him what his characters look like? You really think he'll be able to accurately conjure the stories and other details? Its gonna be more attacks and gaslighting from a creator who stop caring about the stories that gave us escapism from this miserable world we live and the immense impact they had on us. Ill stick with the books. They wont abandon or hate me for caring.
The characters being the right ages make this story 100000% better. As a kid I connected to them being my age on wild, brave adventures and it inspired me. Now I watch as an adult and I'm like holy shit they're so small and that monster is giant. It reminds me of Stranger Things and how putting the kids right in the action makes the stakes of the story way better.
I think the actors are older than the characters in the book by a couple years, and by the end of the run of the show they will be way older probably. Still closer in age than the movie series though.
I am SOO excited. I loved and still love all of these stories from my childhood, but with time, I can't help thinking: "You were heroes" "We were children! We didn't need to be brave; we needed to be protected!"
I was in middle school when i first read this series and now I've graduated college, so seeing this book finally come to life on screen in a faithful adaptation actually brings tears to my eyes, and makes me realize just how much I've grown since then. And yet I still have never grown out of my Percy Jackson phase, and with 5 seasons of this I probably never will!
Same! We’re the same age, and I remember watching the movie in my 7th grade class - so it’s so weird to see kids their actual age acting (which is how it SHOULD be)
I have been waiting for a good adaptation of these books since I was a little kid! These books meant so much to me growing up with autism and feeling different and alone. The show looks great, I teared up a little at the end there. So excited to watch!
this series was legitimately 50% of my childhood, this series seems to have taken a much more authentic approach to the books than the old movies thankfully
@@mnomadvfxthat and this whole "hes the hero so he gets the girl" thing. Not only is that a trope run over too much but it just made the whole plot feel tacky. I love how with this series they are actually drawing from the book. The scene where Percy and his mom get away from Gabe and go to the becah house was really great and I'm glad we actualy get to see that this time
@@hamburgerdog25annabeth looks nothing like the book description, in a universe where diversity is alive and well they didn’t cast the one FMC to fit her looks. It’s like casting Brad Pitt to play black panther or Michael b Jordan to be Rocky’s kid not creeds kid. Just a missed opportunity tbh I don’t doubt the actress is good just doesn’t look like annabeth
I am bawling my eyes out over this. This is so perfect and I’m so proud of Leah, Aryan and Walker for playing the roles of a book series that also means so much to them. Having a faithful adaptation of a book series that shaped me as a person is too much for me to handle.
@@Arrowflight ha ha ha as if I didn’t grow up on the series and read it a million times. If you think the adaptation is so bad, then *don’t watch the show*. The books are right there for u
The Percy Jackson series has helped me so much. After a tough day in school, after exams, nothing really quite matches the feeling of coming home and reading the books. Still remains one of my favorite books of all time. Very excited for this series!!!
The fact that Ares is actually a part of this show makes it 1000 times better than the movies. The cast look phenomenal, and I am so excited for this show!!!!!
Yeah, I didn't hate the movie, but not having Ares was such a huge mistake. It made the plot so much more generic, while also ruining the setup for the rest of the series.
It is interesting but in Turkish translate of book, his sword's name is Dalgakıran what means breakwater. But it is makes more sense in our language. It is cooler. One info for any day😉
Percy Jackson and the Olympians was the second book series I ever read. It and Harry Potter is what inspired my love for reading, and that love has never stopped, and it never will. I got full body chills when I watched this trailer and I can already tell that this will be a faithful adaptation. The song in the background, the altered "Riptide" by Vance Joy, is a perfect addition to both the series and the trailer. I've always thought the music chosen for tv shows and movies has a huge impact on the viewer and what they feel and experience, and it was proven once again to be true. Aside from that, I hope that this goes on to educate and entertain new watchers and readers about the world of Half-bloods and demigods. Also, I hope it continues for the full 5 seasons, or even more with the Heroes of Olympus series. I couldn't be more excited to watch these talented young actors grow up with these characters and bring them to life. I can't wait.
I really love that the characters seem to have been cast to reflect their book-accurate age. If this show is done well, the kids will grow into their characters, similarly to how the Harry Potter kids grew into their characters.
And now wb discovery will reboot the Harry Potter franchise as a series. I loved the movies but they did took out several important elements from the books.
So glad I am now a fan for some reason. While I was in school, we never read Percy Jackson. Most classes did, but mine didn't. Years later, who would know at 19 I would be such a big fan of this show, having watched it twice already and starting to finally read the book, which I’m enjoying. I love these characters as well as the actors playing them. They are truly perfect. I can’t wait for season 2.
I mean true, but the length wasn't really the biggest problem with the movie. Removing the main villain and some of the most iconic scenes was much worse, and made the plot rather more generic.
@Percy-nr9hzHonestly I myself imagined Chiron to be somewhat brown always but Annabeth and Zeus' details I remember like the back of my hand, and black skin tone just doesn't fit. Grover however could have used a darker tone. It's not about racism, it's about characters being true to the book. I look at the girl and think that they couldn't have chosen a more different Annabeth.
@@spore4893hopefully his portrayal of Zeus will pay off in season 1 and hopefully whoever they choose to recast as Zeus will be able to do good as well
@@ToyStoryboy2009 hope so. But there is one thing we know of Greek Gods, they are known to shapeshift and can decide to change their human apperances how ever they please or not
As long as they let Riordan have his creative and the dialogue isn't bad (which is sadly a big if) input I don't see this show going downhill. The actors are all super talented and I can't wait to watch this with my friends. Also, might I add that the use of a dark-sounding Riptide by Vance Joy was a friggin brilliant easter egg for fans of the books! Very excited!!!!
Wow. I am speechless. This gave me chills. As a Percy Jackson, One Piece, and Scott Pilgrim die-hard, I can tell that this fall/winter season is going to be my favorite in TV. Hope the studios will pay their writers, actors, and everyone else so we can continue to get amazing quality entertainment!
No matter how different an actor looks, if their skin or hair color is different, it will always be way better than casting an actor who is 10 years older than their role. And the book would work just as well if the characters’ physical descriptions were changed to the new actors’ appearance. Message, topics, dialogue, humor, character traits, relationships, vibe and character dynamics would still be the same, and that is what’s most important about an adaptation.
@@alexnoyle oh man, yeah. Not to mention, just about all of the Athena kids at camp had blonde hair and grey eyes. If they change that, I actually would be happier, because I was not thrilled about that in the books, not gonna lie. But, if everyone is alright with this change but not the dark hair in the movies, sounds rather hypocritical to me. The changes are alright in one adaptation but not the other? We haven't come that far as a fandom.
@@RoseBaggins For me the reason it would work better in this adaptation is that the way Annabeth was stereotyped as a dumb valley girl also applies to how black women are often perceived. The movie just used a white woman with black hair, with no thematic parallels, to me thats worse. But in either case I would prefer they stick to the book.
@RoseBaggins I'll admit I cared about her hair colour in the movies, but I don't now. I don't see this as hypocritical, but instead as maturing. I was 10 when the movie came out, but I'm 23 now. My opinions have changed in the past 13 years

It’s gonna be another cleopatra situation if they decide to start making Greek gods anything other than white or tanned seeing as they are you know, Greek. But seeing as Annabelle is black they will probably make Athena black and maybe make Zeus Asian to get all that diversity they love so much
@@lucasbelmonte2832lmao you can't even say Annabeth's name correctly and is already talking crap 😂 The gods are gods, if you had read the books you'd know the gods can choose any form they prefer. @@SyahruliNurQotrunnada well, that might be your opinion. I personally loved all of them and am looking forward to more from the series, but I respect your opinion.
I discovered these books in middle school like most kids. I burned through the first 3 that were in my school library in less than a year, bought book 4, then book 5 when it finally came out the summer before my 8th grade. I got my parents to extend my grounding by 2 weeks AND offered to pay myself to go see the first movie when it came out after I had gotten myself in trouble (was not worth it). Then I read the series to my little sister as a bed time story through most of high school. I was so impressed she could read the word centaur at age 7. My only regret is that I haven't caught up with Heroes of Olympus or Trials of Apollo. Percy and his friends at Camp Half Blood are like family to me. Visiting their world was an escape from a lonely childhood. And Percy himself was always my hero. Not because he was strong or powerful, and not because he lived in a world of wonder I wish I could be a part of, but because he always felt like a screw up, even in spite of all the things he did right. But no matter who talked down to him or how many mistakes he made, he got back up and did his best to fix things. And he found friends, family, and happiness even as the universe itself seemed determined to keep him and his loved ones away from it out of pure spite. I'll be thrilled to see the trio's adventures again, and I hope to tell my kids of true heroes that fought to make the world a better place, even in the face of gods and monsters.
Omg same I was so lonely during my tween/teenage years. These characters felt like friends to me, I used to admire them, and I wanted to be their friends. It provided me with a lot of comfort during those years, and Camp Half Blood is still in my heart after all these years.

i've watched this so many times and as someone who rarely comments on youtube, much less on channels like this; I wanna say this. We all have some kind of connection to Percy. no matter if you just found the books now because of the large amounts of hype for this show, or because you've read it in middle school/high school. When I read the books, I was in the 6th grade. I read the Lightning thief because it was required for my school's curriculum. I got the rest of the series that year and sped through them like nothing, and with support from an amazing English teacher, I started to write. without these books, this story of a modern age demigod kid, I wouldn't be halfway through writing my first novel. I've been waiting for the day I get to sit on my couch and watch my favorite heroes on the TV (I always knew a TV show would work best for PJO) Here's to the show, the future of Percy Jackson, and the amazing Hard work of the team, of Rick himself and to the Characters, who's been by our sides throughout these years.
From seeing all of the locations to hearing a cover of riptide in the background on our first sighting of Riptide in the trailers for this series, this whole thing has me on the verge of tears and happy dancing. This whole series meant so much for me all through middle and high school and made such a lonely time brighter and I've gotten to share it with my younger brothers. Now to get to share what's looking like a faithful adaptation as well with Rick behind the scenes 😭🤯
Percy Jackson helped me at a time when I felt helpless. I read all the Riordanverse books and I breathed them for two years, they were my refuge. The characters brought me inspiration, willingness to write and gave me a reason to continue, dreaming of demigods, monsters and satyrs. I joined social networks and the pjo's fandom was my friends. Seeing this trailer brings me back to my 11/12 years old and the perspective of this series makes me immense happy, I know that the series will reach to children who may need it and, like me, they can take refuge in the half blood camp. Looking forward to the series, it's always good come back home 😁

I hope that it does. There are still 4 books to go and Disney has cancelled good shows before.
@@ivoryphoenix7and again 5 more after that.

@@Raj4771AKYeah let's not hope too much but you're right, if done well it can really be incredible. I hope someone passionate makes this show

@@Cardinal_clawThey'll think of something. Seeing as they can't do the "nobody who's met Annabeth Chase ever makes dumb blonde jokes" with this Annabeth, one presumes they'll think up alternatives.
I first read the Percy Jackson books over a decade ago, and they they are still among my favourite books now as an adult. This one and a half min trailer just made me bawl my eyes out - as much as this will be phenomenal for kids today who will grow up with this tv series, it will always mean more to us kids who never grew out of our Percy Jackson phase!

As a fan who wasn't quite impressed by the film adaptations of the books, this show and its cast looks really promising. The first two episodes itself were wonderfully executed and the cinematography is great. Really looking forward to a proper adaptation of Riordan's masterpiece.
And after 5 eps. It get worse hahah. Really suck
@@SyahruliNurQotrunnada well, that might be your opinion. I personally loved all of them and am looking forward to more from the series, but I respect your opinion.
@@tahafeemahmedWow! Someone that actually respects opinions of other people which is rare considering that this is the internet.
I am rooting for this show to work long term so much. It already looks really good.

I must congratulate whoever edited the trailers for this show for being a master trailer editor. Despite the fact that the two lead characters don't match the book's descriptions, the editing, music, cinematography, and pretty much everything else gives me chills watching the trailers. I don't know how many times I've watched them at this point.
The fact that they used riptide for the trailer song makes this 100% better! knowing they are somewhat connected to there audience gives me a little hope for this show.
Percy Jackson is my favorite childhood series. I’m in tears over how good this looks . Complete emotional nostalgia high. Can’t wait
Still remember all my good times back at Camp Half-Blood 😌Back in my day, it was a little more... violent than this 😅 Glad to see things have changed, excited to watch this new reality show of my old camp!

I cannot wait for this. The trailer looks so good. Adam Copeland as Ares was such an amazing casting choice. And the music for this trailer really does fit so well.

Riptide is now my official pick for the theme song of Percy Jackson

I'm going to continue rewatching this trailer until it reaches a million views maybe even a billion!! Percy Jackson fans including myself have waited too long for a faithful adaptation and I want to do my part as a massive fan to make sure this show does well!!! I can't even begin to describe my hype for this show!! December please come quickly!! 🙏😩😍

I started Percy Jackson in 3rd grade, throughout covid, it was such a relief reading this series, and seeing it all come to life is so amazing, I also love them playing Riptide by Vance Joy in the background
As someone who got into it when I was older, and is now MUCH older, I'm so SO happy to see young fans enjoying the books and getting to grow up with them! I wish Percy Jackson was more popular sooner like it deserves, but now it will have it's rightful place because of this show, finally!! I'm going to try getting my younger siblings and cousins into it too haha!

yeah i randomly saw the hosue of hades in my school library in second grade read that and then found out about all hte other books I kinda read some out of order without knowing but it was an amazing experience of finally liking to read books as a kid
also yeah the song fits it well
There are percy jackson movies out right now. There are actually two that are really good, and for the most part, exactly like this show.
I really hope they keep making the series for heroes of Olympus cause I want to see more of Nico and also my boy Leo.

These books were my childhood. There was a stretch from The Mark of Athena to The Blood of Olympus where each book came out right around my birthday and I would get the new book and just devour it. To see an adaptation that looks so faithful and has Rick's blessing warms my heart and I cannot wait for this show!
That is so cool that the books came out around your birthday! They would make for great birthday gifts, I’m sure!
Yet Disney failed to perfectly recreate it by casting black Annabeth. The books clearly described her as having blond hair.

im glad Lance Reddick finished his scenes here. dudes a legend, rest in peace
I'm jumping out of my seat right now pointing at all the adaptations I recognise from the books because they've finally been done justice! Ares finally getting the spotlight he deserves, the chimera battle, the waterpark set up omg it's all there and I'm so happy!
i'm so speechless right now OMGGG
this series is what made me want to be a writer. my thesis was a novel heavily inspired by percy and his world. and to think that it's finally going to get an adaptation that's true to the books-- I'M SOBBING. everyone who knows me knows how much percy jackson means to me and everyone who knows me knows just how insufferable i will be once this show is released. i just can't believe it's almost here. i'm word vomiting right now but i don't care, i waited a decade for this. this is a dream come true.
I love that a lot of us keep coming back to the trailer cause we can’t help ourselves, it’s that good!!!

this series legitimately changed the course of my life when i was 10. i am so excited for this
I still vividly remember reading the books when I was in elementary and buying the sequel series from the book fair as they released 😂 I’m 20 now and couldn’t be any happier that this is coming out
i've watched this so many times and as someone who rarely comments on youtube, much less on channels like this; I wanna say this. I've been waiting for the day I get to sit on my couch and watch my favorite heroes on the TV (I always knew a TV show would work best for PJO)
Here's to the show, the future of Percy Jackson, and the amazing Hard work of the team, of Rick himself and to the Characters, who's been by our sides throughout these years.
Do we know who covered riptide for this an if it has been released sounds awesome
My hopes for this show is literally SO HIGH!!!! I grew up with Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase!!! I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
I know right!? I’m so excited!
