A couple more thoughts about sleep deprivation: One, If you drink coffee or tea, carrying some caffeine tablets are more accessible than trying to buy a cup of beverage. In 2015, one control had enormous coffee urns -- all of which were empty. I was SO disappointed, at 3:00 AM, to find no coffee. Second thing: chewing gum is supposed to help us stay awake -- something about jaw muscles increasing blood flow to the brain.
Thank you.... Lot of information.....for me whenever I feel sleepy i take a 20 min power nap. And start my ride with a coffee or a caffeine tab. It works for me.
I think the marshals will be screening for participant registration numbers at all checkpoints. They may not allow you access if you don’t have an official event registration tag.
@@reganarendse6157 thanks for your reply. I don't wasnt to just save on registration fees, it's just that I am a local and I have learnt about PBP too late to do the 200/300/400/600 rides and I don't want to wait 4 years to give it a try
No-one better to offer advice and information than someone who has done it. Thanks!
Regular Joe is a very special guy and has a wealth of knowledge including insights that you can only gain from personal experience. I agree

Good advice. Thank you. I’ve struggled to get a decent mirror for my bike but haven’t tried a helmet mirror
I plan to do PBP without registering, will I have access to beds in control points ? Is there something i should watch out for ?
