One recommendation for summertime use that is not often mentioned only use the liner from Carinthia sleeping bag system. Personally imy favorite sleeping bag liner that I’ve used and One. Zipper down the center goes almost all the way to your feet it’s a good length I’m over 6 foot tall it fits me and I can zip myself up inside of it just about fully. It’s mostly cotton material has tie off points that you would attach to the inside points of the Carinthia sleeping bag systems. However, you can just put this inside of a good quality bivy, and stay dry protected from critters without sweating your brains out.😅

Ok review however it would’ve been so much better to see it being set up and used outdoors rather than on a desk in a store. We still have no real idea what it looks like in use.

Is the Carinthia gtx sleeping bag cover (German army bivy bag) ir protected? In tactical and military sense how does it differ from this combat bivy bag?

Hello, I have used the combat bivy for over a year of hard use, and I would highly recommend it. I've done my best to take very good care of it, however now there are certain areas that do not repel water anymore. I have used special goretex washing fabic, but still, there are areas that just absorb water. Do you have any recommendations on where to fix this? I have tried hand washing and machine washing, but I do not know how to get it back to being 100% waterproof

I would imagine that "Nikwax" have products that will re-waterproof your bivy bag, their website can be easily found.

Hello, i recommend Nikwash products, they dont need a tumbledryer to be effective, like other brands.
I would start with washing it in Nikwax Tech-wash and then reproof with Nikwax Wash-in.
I do all my technical washing at around 30c and 400rpm spin.
For drying, i dry as much outdoors laying flat on a drying rack; sun and wind dries it fast.
Usually i wash my sleepingbag and cover and other big and bulky stuff on the last few nice days of fall, and it usually can last without another wash until spring pops out.
That way i dont have to have it laying around drying inside.

I don't understand why the bivy is more than 3x more $ than the sleeping bag. I think as do most people this product is a hard no for me at $650 carinthia needs to drop the price alot before I'd ever buy this.

@@roffe8430 sorry about the typos in my first comment. I use dictation. &Bivy not baby. LOL
Also I did forget to mention the third option, and I haven’t received it yet. So can’t attest to the quality or if it’s true what others have claimed that it’s not truly waterproof and that water will make its way through. Well this is the coyote colored US Marine Corps version that has the mesh bug screen for your face and an inner rain fly that zippers open and closed depending on if you want ventilation or the weather etc. It zips up totally. Some people prefer this option if bugs are a concern. One issue is it tends to be very warm so if you’re in a warm climate where there’s a lot of bugs you probably only wanna have a sleeping bag liner like the one from Carinthia. They make the best liner I’ve ever used not that I’m trying to promote their stuff obviously not because I mentioned military surplus items you can get used as an alternative, but Carinthia really does have quality gear.
I like many other folks during these hard times can’t justify spending the retail price of the Corinthia bivy. The cotton liners they produce which are also available on the surplus market and some other companies out of Germany have produced their own that fit inside Carinthia sleeping bags have a zipper that goes almost all the way to your feet down the center good quality and zips up quite a ways so you can literally use it as a sleeping bag and it’s warm enough for summer use. So if you pair sleeping bag liner with a lightweight bivy you will have a very effective system that Waze little. OK just wanted to add this information as I realized dictation typos from my first comment and I failed to mention the US Marine Corps sack. Stay well and get outdoors for the fresh air is fresher these days as most people seem to be stuck indoors.😅

I'm searching for a bivy which could house me (190cm tall bloke) and my dutch shepherd (38kg, big bitch). This one seems quite big, but then there is no more space for a backpack is there?
Don't worry, me and my dog sleep under 1 person blanket as well (with her legs sticking out), we are conditioned to fit like that, almost like a jigsaw. we are maybe as small as one really big fat guy.
would this suffice you think, or are there specific items for that circumstance? 1,5 person bivy bag would be perfect probably.
