Elephants are not THAT tough (at least in my opinion), they just have a lot of HP for this point in the game, somewhere around 60-70 whereas most other stuff has around 30 or so.
In my runthrough of it, I mostly ran into elephants, which they proved to be more bark than bite. A lot of HP, but not too much damage (for this area).
The TIGERS are the ones I'D be worried about, because they do A LOT of damage AND have a combo attack they can end up doing! Thankfully, they're glass cannons, so if you have high damage (and decent speed), you should easily get by them.

I died the first time on the star man fight at level 10 even with the franklnbdge didn’t know it deflected it’s attacks cause it never used gamma on me. Second time I used a rope and absolutely bodied him to death still level 10.
