@mycarolinagarden I work at Lowe's outside garden center and remember putting them all out on the table. It's a Lowe's brand. Hopefully, I'm giving the right information. 😬🤔
So I have the tickled pink dianthus but I’d bought it so long ago I couldn’t remember what it was. I just called it carnations, lol. Thanks for the heads up.i have 3 different varieties of dianthus and same, I love them, they’re so reliable.
I just recently bought a pot at lowes for my narrow border bed. Called scent first eternity dianthus. And it does smell good! It is the blue/silver foliage and the type I always called "pinks." I've never grown them before but always wanted to. My question is height avg 8 1/2 inches. My first season in this home so just starting. I planted my fall bulbs about the middle of the bed with plans to plant shorter in front taller in back. Should I plant these in front of the tulips and daffodils then. (Of course, they are finished blooming.) That's my plan but want to make sure. By the way I'm in NE TN--zone 7.
I agree with your plan and would put the Dianthus in front of the tulips. Since 8 1/2 inches is pretty tall, they can also help block the tulip and daffodil stems after they are done blooming and are fading away. ❤️
Did you show sweet Williams? I'm outside and couldn't see my screen real well. Love them! I'm 73 and always remember my grandmother and mother and myself with them. They are technically biannual. But they reseed very easily and you will have tons of blooms every year. Are other dianthus biannual?
I love that you were watching this outside 💚 I don't have any that I know for sure are Sweet William, but I have 2 that didn't come with a label besides "Dianthus" and I suspect they might be. All of the varieties I have stayed evergreen for me, so even if it's biennial, I didn't see that here in SE NC. All of the others I have are perennial, and I suspect even the ones I bought for my border labeled "annual" will be perennial here in zone 8b. Thank you for your message!
I just planted 3 and something has started eating mine. I’m pretty sure it’s either chipmunks or ground moles! Ugh. Always something!! Am I right?! I replanted them into pots.
I was at Walmart and passed up the dianthus. Guess I need to go back to pick one or two up. Enjoyed the video.
I think you'll be pleased with the Dianthus' reliability 😊 Thank you for this message.
@@mycarolinagarden I returned to Walmart and picked up two Capitàn Pink Eye dianthus. So excited to plant them! Thanks for the inspiration. 🌱
I adore Dianthus, especially Dianthus 'Memories' it smells amazing 😊
I bet it smells amazing 😍 So many fantastic choices! 😀
Nicole, thanks for showing and pointing out the different styles of dianthus. Something for everyone. Take care.
Yes, something for everyone. Thanks for you kind message! 💚
I love Dianthus also! Didn't realize there were so many varieties!
I know, right? So many to love!
Very informative. Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad, thank you! 😊
@9:05, I believe that's the Purple and Pink Dianthus. I saw them at Lowes. I love them!
OK, awesome! I hadn't run across them yet this year. Thank you! 😄💚

Beautiful varieties! I don’t know if they would survive zone 10, but they are gorgeous!
Ah, good question. Of course one of my favorite flowers that you get is the Dipladenia 😍
Hello! I typically do not go for dianthus, but after this video, I just might try one! The groundcover ones are really pretty.
I know what you mean, they can be pretty easy to look right over. 😄 Then once I tried them, I realized I would be foolish not to get more. 💚

Oh yay! Glad I could help with the name. Reliable, yes! That's the perfect word. 💚

What is that pretty purple pincushion flower lower left at 8:54-9:18(ish)??
Yep, you nailed it. It's a Pincushion (Scabiosa) and is hardy in zones 4+! 😄
I just planted 3 and something has started eating mine. I’m pretty sure it’s either chipmunks or ground moles! Ugh. Always something!! Am I right?! I replanted them into pots.
Oh noooo!! You're right, it's always something! Hopefully they live long and happily for you in their new pots 😊❤️
