Também sinto esse brilho no olhar dela, parece que ela se conecta com a gente imediatamente. Talvez esteja muito ligado com a história dela de superação, pois ela sobreviveu a um câncer. Pelo que eu ouvi falar, a So Hyang enxerga o que ela faz como uma ponte para realmente se conectar com as pessoas e ajudá-las a se sentirem melhor e mais esperançosas. O que justifica o fato dela optar por não ceder tanto à fama, embora mereça. Ela põe muito significado em qualquer canção que ela interpreta. Vai muito além de notas altas, riffs e runs. Ela consegue tocar a nossa alma de um jeito que eu nunca vi nenhuma outra cantora fazer. Não sei explicar. Tem uma interpretação em particular que sempre me faz chorar. I hope you understand this as my Portuguese is rubbish, although having watched my reactions by Portuguese speaking reactors I am starting to recognise some words, even before I read the subtitles if they are provided. Your observations of Sohyang ring true, an amazing singer is obvious for everyone to see but she has this aura about her, something special that can’t be taught & as a long time Sohyang fan, the more I find out about her, the more I realise how lucky I am to have found her & have her in my life. I don’t know if you have researched her or looked in to her back story but she is like no other. She had cancer in her early 20’s, which left her unable to have her own children. The treatment has left her with many health problems to this day & appears to have recurring bouts of pneumonia, which is particularly bad for a singer as it affects the lungs. All the big record companies have try to sign her but each time she has refuse preferring to go at her own pace & do what she wants when she wants. This lady is not driven by fame/fortune & had repeatedly said that she wants to use her voice to help bring comfort to those experiencing difficult times. She had no social media presence & is content for her music to be shared via RUclips. She is a published author of fiction & by day is a university lecturer in music. This song, ‘the power of love’, although a fantastic performance, is closer to the original than many of the covers Sohyang performs, but this is because that is what the shows producers wanted, but usually, when she is allowed to do as she pleases, sohyang’s best talent, apart from singing, really shines & this is her fantastic skill at all aspects of musical arrangement. She is responsible for all aspects of the arrangement of the songs she performs, from lead vocals, to backing vocals, to orchestration, she is so clever. I think one of the performances that shows this most is her performance of ‘lean on me’ from the show‘immortal songs 2’. The theme of the show that week for the singers was ‘the songs of Michael Bolton’ & although he didn’t write the song (bill withers wrote it) he did have a big hit with his version. He was actually in the audience as a guest for the show & can be seen mouthing ‘WOW’ during the performance. He was first to rise for a standing ovation when she’d finished & was so impressed by her that when the host went to him for his comments he couldn’t even speak. When he got himself together he simply said ‘ that was SPECTACULAR’ & went on to say how she had risen to the role of ‘virtuoso’. She has since joined him on stage whenever he is on tour in the East. Needless to say she won that edition of the show. I could go on & on about the amazing Sohyang but I would suggest to you that you look on to her history & discover why she feels like she does about the fame/fortune. You will be given many many recommendations of where to go next with Sohyang but all I can say is in my experience you will never be disappointed. Time after time you think she cant possibly get any better but then you see another performance & you’re totally blown away again. In my opinion the greatest female singer in the world today & where Dimash is ‘king’ when it comes to vocals, she is very much his ‘queen’. If I were to give you my thoughts about this lady in one sentence I would just say that ‘Sohyang is as beautiful on the inside as her voice is on the outside’.
