Putting out lines in these conditions is really giving the finger to Haulover. #2 wins!!
Safety always comes first. Especially for minors.
He wasn’t putting out lines, he was taking selfies
Video doesn't do it justice. Absolutely true statement from BG!
I'd go in these conditions, but only with the right boat, and the right Captain!!!👍👍👍
Doesn't surprise me the boats did so well. Only the best captains venture out in that.
Props to the smaller boats that wisely decided to stay home.
nah real men go for it
That's the point, they weren't so they didn't ;
I love this guy's narration, makes these great videos that more entertaining for sure
Boat two was a win as well. You can't start changing the rules when you feel like it based on assumptions. Sorry but YOU made the rules! Ha ha.
voice is like nails on a chalk board jeez
That’s actually been a rule on this channel from the start, putting passengers at risk gets you a loss
Especially the kids didn’t even have a PDF, not that I can see at least.
You must be new to the channel if you think that’s changing rules
Love these videos. Whenever it’s rough, you guys ask “would you go out on a day like today?” I grew up in Hawaii, if you have a boat there and are not willing to go out on a day like this you’d never go out. But now that I live in Florida, I probably would not go out in these conditions. Though much different, even though an average day in Hawaii is 15-20’ waves, it’s deep water, they are rollers.
Ala Moana can be a real test. Can break to to bottom.
2-4s in the gulf are just as bad as 10-15 in Hawaii 😂
🛑🛑 I can you tell how big those waves are….
Big Enough, to keep my boat and butt tied up in the slip 😂💯!!!
These guys are nuts 🥜 to go out in those conditions 🤷♂️💯.
Those waves look in the neighborhood of 6' or so. Treacherous in a small boat.
#2 was a W for the boats!
Who ever secured the trash cans at the very beginning...GREAT JOB!
Yep, 6 to 8 footers.
That's what I was thinking ,they measure the waves from bottom of trough to top of incomeing wave 6-8 I've been in 12 foot waves in a 42 foot Hatteras 120 Mike's off shore scared sh--less.
Tsunami waves … yeah right.
Obviously genius
As a surfer for 50 years in all conditions and sitting here on my couch, I'd say 3-5 maybe a 6 on the biggest sets. Most people judge the wave while they are looking at it and that is not a true value.
Love watching these fun boat videos
You gave the #2 an L, but the guy on the deck clearly has enough experience to be out there and I would be doing the same thing!
Btw, it looked like he was recording / taking pics with his phone.
He was taking selfies, no problem with that
Looks like the inexperienced captains stayed home today.
Wow. The captains did real well today. Without looking I’d guess 5-7 ft waves.
🦧🦧🦧. The waves are 1 1/4 inches tall on my smart phone screen.
Props to everyone with boats that are staying home and just watching this instead.
Hehe....props.
#2 was a win! The mate was sure footed in the swells, and boating is not a wussie sport like golf! Should we all wear helmets to make you feel better? 😀😀😂
Wonderful episodes. Was wondering, any chance of opening the shows with conditions; wind intensity and direction, tides, etc, for all us poor fools landlocked but learning?
Probably around 6-8 ft. Not sure why most of those guys were heading out. Going to be rough out on the water. Coast Guard will go out in rough days to train.
I'd say 8 minimum. I usually go on the smaller side when looking at video, but I've seen videos of boats in 6-8 and those are a bit bigger. But, pretty good. I saw someone say 25.
The sea was angry that day.
Coasties are playing. Good practice for the coxswains.
Love your commentary, makes all the difference. Keep up the good work.
Re the Tiara, you're right. I would say if the captain is in the wheelhouse due to weather, the crew should be below decks as well. Until the captain turns off the fasten seatbelt sign. But anyone on deck is the captain's responsibility. So.....
Not even that bad. Those boats are all wicked nice boats. I wanna see a 14' whaler out there
I had a 15' Boston Whaler I'd take through Barnegat Inlet in conditions like this just for the fun of it. I don't have too much experience with larger boats (and none in conditions like this) but I tend to think a smaller boat is actually easier here.
8 to 12 footers
that's what I'm thinking.
4-0 for sure. He wasn't setting lines, he was videotaping with his cell phone.
Boat 2 won. Come on
6-8'
I am gobsmacked that on a tad rough sea 🤣 not even the kid in the back is wearing a LIFEJACKET🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Hell yeah boats! Good set of battles.
Two to three meter waves easily.... Great stream BG !
Number four amazes me. A millionaire bought it, and a high school sophomore named it.
It looked like the masters were the only ones trying. That does make a statement about the size of the waves.
I'm going to have to throw out a challenge to that call on #2. Yes, it was a *_very bad decision_* to allow the kid to roam around while the Captain requires *_all his attention on the water,_* but Haulover didn't win that round. The Captain's wife might beat the Captain if she sees this video, but Haulover didn't beat him. I can't give the win to Haulover just because of a penalty.
Stable drone flight!
I'm gonna guess the seas were around 6 to 7 and judging how rough the inlet was, maybe a outgoing tide with a onshore wind? I live ten minutes from sebastian inlet, that little channel gets nasty under those conditions. the standing deadmen get bonkers.
Thankfully only the big boats and the smart captains out today
The boats won all 4. Crappy judging Guru. 😆 😂 😆
Nice drone camera angles 👍
As a few others have said 6-8 foot swells.
Couple of them might of made 9'
If we are talking swells I would 20ft! Look at the length of the boat in between the waves. The swell is top of each wave to each other. 👍
Good morning from the mountains of Glendale Oregon.
Boats won because the only people running that day are true captains
You guy's need to go out to Newport, Oregon when the USCG takes out the "Bar Boat" on a rough day, i'm talking 30 foot breakers and they actually roll the boat!!
NO, we'd NEVER train in 30 foot breakers! YES we can go out in that kind of weather, but NOT for training! Also, I'm not sure about the new 47's but in my day, you purposely roll the 44 footer and 1) the chief is gonna chew you a new one for the $10k (that's 1990 dollars) worth of electronics you just ruined AND 2) the engineers are going to kill you for the two gallons of engine oil you spewed out of the turbo chargers ALL over the engine room that they now have to clean up!
Dadgum, that captain on the 39' Tiara, cost my favorite boat to take a loss. Noway ,no, how you let a youngster be back there. Not in these conditions. ❤️BVH💯
Me I say that the waves are possibly any from 3 to 5 foot waves
If the boats have less than 3 motors it's not goin nowhere
Most of those bigger inboards have 2 engines, the 45' RBM only has 2, and twin MTU V-16's cranking out 5200 HP total is better than 4 outboards with 400hp (1,600hp)
What about the cat behind the midnight express? Those rollers look like they would punish the powered wide displacement cat that was in the background.
I bet they turned around. I've been on a boat like it a lot, they would have slammed so hard in those steep waves.
When you drop north of 1.5 million your boat should kick ass. With a seasoned captain.
Is that Coasty a jet drive?
OK - those are some waves!!
Five, maybe six feet close in, 6 -8 feet farther out. Anything bigger and the Chief wouldn't have let the 45' RBM go out even for a SAR case, and these guys were definitely training (no urgency in the way they handled the inlet) The RBM is only allowed to a max of 8' surf and a max 12' seas offshore. Anything larger and you'd have to take the 47' Motor Life Boat. Oh, wait! The nearest USCG surf station is 400 miles north! 🤣
The name of #4 gave me a chuckle
The Seablade boats made in Hawaii ,size for size will handle rough chops better than any boat
A person is riding in the front of the boat, I'm gonna give em the L. A man is standing behind the captain I'm going to give em the L. Dude make up your mind. Second boat looked like a deep sea charter, those mates know what they are doing and so do the captains, probably even has a cockpit camera to keep an eye on things back there.
When I was surfing we would call this double overhead conditions... meaning If I was standing on my board at the bottom of the trough on a curling wave it would be twice as tall as I am.... probably about 10 foot I'd say.
You can't take the win away from #2 just because "you said so". By the way.... who said it was a young kid anyways? Could have been a 30 year old manlet. Even if it was a smaller kid, while it's probably not the best idea letting them out like that, Captain did a good job getting out.
Trim the bow up more and increase speed a bit. The ride through those swells would be much smoother.
A 41' Apache would eat those conditions.
Show the boats coming back in with these waves. That should be a little more interesting.
Heh. Liqour Box. I get it.
Just god damn, do I miss living around there.
“Liquor Box” really?
Good morning 🌅
Days like today actually favor the boats. The conditions are bad enough that all the mediocre captains know they are overmatched and don't try. The only ones trying haulover in these conditions are people confident they can make it out
Guessing seas are 4-6'
So far you seem to be the closest assumption. I said 3-5 with 6 on the biggest sets and I'm 1900 miles away
Is the narrative part necessary!
It would be something if the hull had a g sensor to record the beating
That is a heavy inlet, I will never go there. I don’t wanta be a silly boat captain, and don’t wanta sink.
#2 not an L, not a wise decision, but not an L based on the rules of your game
I noticed the Coast Guard boat didn't have anybody dicking around outside on the deck, bow or stern.
Great video got a like from me for sure.
To who ever named the third boat:
Liquor Box = Douche. Definitely.
Douche.
6-8 footers
UFO at 2:07 ? lol
5 to 10
I've been 120 miles off shore on a 42 foot Hatteras we got into 12 foot seas ,I was 18 ,in international waters ,we would go down in the trough and the next wave would come over the boat the boat would go under and pop up out the wave I'll never forget ,the boat and captain were bad mo fo'' s captain was on his second 5th of Canadian club whiskey ,freaking fearless ,I thought we were fckn dead scared crapless .
This just shows that in bad weather only the top class captains come out to play
all we saw were outbound boats, wonder if they tried to get back in the same way
1:59, You are a captain?
HAHAAHHA LIQOUR BOX
Tsunami waves? Righto.
8 to 10 foot breakers
#2 kid on the back. LIFE JACKET 🤷♂️🤨. Where is it????
Pshh red top legend would take a win even with those waves
The boats had it 4-0. That one captain should not have had the kid on the back, but he and the boat still handled the waves well. You need to reconsider your scoring criteria.
The Coast Guard HAS to go out…. But the DON’T HAVE to come back…
Not even Narooma (NSW, Australia) is as nasty as Haulover on a bad day
Boy I will be staying in cabin today, hanging on at stern I would be scared I would get tossed overboard 🤣
Tsunami waves??? You have no idea about the ocean I see. 4-6 foot waves at the most. Try 20-60 foot seas here in Hawaii
Yup I'm with you...and 6 on the biggest sets
I give it 5 to 6 close in and 6 to 7 offshore - otherwise the Coast Guard wouldn't allow that RBM to go out. That said, given the right boat (namely a motor life boat) 20 foot breakers with a 20-30 second wave period is FAR easier to deal with than 8 foot breakers with a 7 second wave period.
Unsure BG understands what a tsunami is . . .
Liquor box?
Does the Coast Guard boat ever lose?
Most of those boats appeared to be trying to cut over the high waves rather then zigzag through the waves at an angle avoiding cutting through high waves As the coast guard boat is shown trying to do.
I'd guess 8ft with the biggest 10ft
7 to 10 ft waves
no boats get my vote, life vests are conspicuous by their absence....again
Why would you go out of that inlet on days like this.
Adrenaline junkies 😂
20 ft waves
Tsunami waves? I didn’t hear anything about an earthquake in the Atlantic.
Who here wanted to see a noob attempt the run?
🖐️ (I did)
