@@NWFishingSecrets On a fly rod it would really kick some butt. Nice 4wt rod, woolybugger with a bead head....toss in some flash...you're either gonna crush trout or pick up some pretty nice small mouth. Especially near those downed logs!

Interesting, our trout behave totally different in Pennsylvania. Nymphs, occasionally spinners and worms for some reason in the fall. Thanks for the update on the west side. We're stream and I see lake. Great stuff 👍, thanks.

I know this is an older video but here's a tip.
If you snag in your yak simply open the bailer and let the line slack. Then paddle to the other side of the snag and try reeling in from that direction. Works every time.

Hey man, new to the channel but love it...Idk if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but over here in Maine, red hooks make a night and day difference for the trout fishing. Just cheap eagle claw brand, try em out side by side with a standard color hook and we usually catch 2-1 with the red hooks. No joke!

I started fishing because of you NW Fishing Secrets, I already caught salt water anf fresh water catfish, bluegills, and sunfish. In all i caught around 15 - 18 fish in total

This spot reminds me of Lake Sawyer in Eastern King County with that nice shot of Mt Rainier in the background at 1:36. We had a summer home there as a kid. Pretty little lake!

Totally love the idea of survival weekend. I love fishing and enjoy eating it. However, as I have aged, I began to catch and release because everyone I knew had trout in their freezer from five years ago they never planned on eating ever they just hooked the fish in the large intestine instead of the mouth and had to keep it. I had an absolute out of this world experience one morning where I was pretty convinced God was present for as well. While fishing for trout at 5am along a bank a school of largemouth bass roll the shore looking for eats. I quickly switched from a lure to a plastic worm. I toss it out five feet from shore and the first one nails it. They were all about 4lbs which is a nice bass for me. I fight the first one and land him and as I do the school swims within a foot of shore waiting for me to return their buddy. I did and sent the worm back out and bam another one hit it, and the same thing happened. I fought him brought him in and the school swam right up to shore again almost begging me to give them their buddy back. This went on for a solid hour. Probably the most entertaining fishing in my life and I used to fish for king salmon at least once a year so the size of the fish being 4lbs was not the highlight but rather the fish seemingly were begging me to play with them.

Its cool to see someone enjoy fishing so much your so lucky to be able to get to these places way up there enjoy and I respect nature just like you I love trout fishing so much there beautiful and alot stronger then people realize a wild trout at one pound fights like a 7 pound fish and I notest you learned to set you drag loose thats good trouts mouth are soft and they'll rip the hook right out so the drag will help you land bigger trout

This is the first time I'm tuning in to your videos! Great idea! But just a suggestion if you're going to be out for a couple hours or a few hours, and you're planning to cook the fish, it might be a good idea to have a stringer. It will allow you to keep the fish live until you get the amount you're after. Nothing like fresh fish 😎
