- WELCOME TO COUNTRY NUMBER....we're not sure but it's a good one. Welcome to CROATIA. More importantly SPLIT, a great holiday destination for all and one of our fave places we've visited so far. We'd never normally choose to visit in peak season however we have something very exciting planned for in a few days time that we couldn't pass up on the opportunity. Before we show you that though, let's explore SPLIT!

I was worried when I heard you were going to Croatia as I thought, "oh no, that means that Matt and Molly are going to Split!"

You two have great personalities ! My mother is from St Albans England and my dad’s village is an hour up the mountain from Split on the Bosnian border. My mom became Croatian obsessed when she went to Croatia in 1974. She invented a different Burek by accident when I was a kid. She would fry it on top of the stove with cottage cheese in it and all are Croatian friends and family loved it because it was super crispy. Have you guys heard the Samoan Klapa brothers who sing Klapa and tour Croatia and the world singing Croatian songs ?
My wife and I were on holiday in Croatia last month. We flew into Split and from overhead it looked a beautiful place. We stayed on the Dalmatian coast south of Makarska, midway between Split and Dubrovnik. The coast line was beautiful and the mountain ranges stunning. Have fun.

As a travel I just love seeing other travelers like you embracing new culture and appreciate country you are visiting. Buying Croatian shirt, or using Hvala for Thanks or Riva for promenade means a lot for me as a Croatian. Some respect and interest will get you far- like learning Croatian "thank you" or appreciating goods you get for the price. So- thank you, hope you enjoyed. Glad to have respectful guests. One more tip for all the visitors- ask and people will usually gladly answer. When you find out- you get more fulfilling visit. The more you know- the more you appreciate and more profound your visit gets.

You arrived to the sea shore. Cool. Croatian coast is one of the best in the world. If you have time and means I suggests to visit Šibenik and Trogir. They are smaller version of Split. Also if you can visit croatians islands it would be great. Find a little cousie beach and enjoy in shade of a some pine tree. Wish you best in your further journey.

7:33 You are NOT inside Dioclecian palace in that place where you are now. This place is caled Pjaca. The west wall and entrance in Dioclecian palace is right behind you under this clock. This west entrance is caled Iron gate and this gate is on west side of palace.

Split looks beautiful. How warm was the water? We have not been. Harriet and I are currently in Las Vegas for a meetup . We leave tomorrow. If you think Croatia is expensive, come to Vegas and bring lots of money.

Oh I could cry I miss my city so much! The place you got dinner- cevapi was where I grew up- the building behind was my home. My auntie used to help out there when needed. She would just run down the stairs and voila she’d be at work lol

Drove from England to Split, stayed for nine days,full board for two £26,and back,in1964.

@@dabbleandtravel are intentions was to drive to Greece,but time was against us ,the Hotel we stopped in was Hotel Marjan,which had only just been built,but it has been closed down,and wrapping in green plastic, apparently did not fit in with the surroundings,the car was a ford Anglia 105e,we flew from Southend to Oostende, believe or not we didn't have a map, coming back we passed through a Village in Italy called Longarony,which in October the 19th 1963 ,had a landslide and the dam burst,and almost wipedout the village,we then had to have assigned paper to carry on our journey,at our own reasonability,that was September 1964.

It was Emperor Diocletian that had St Georges days ended. The burek shop is the best, had it there in 1984, 1994 and 2010. In 1984 they were the equivelent of twenty Australian cents.

Thinking of going the first week of October - reckon it will still be hot?
As a Balkan resident, I always go to the seaside September/October - the weather is lovely, the mass tourist overflow is over, and everything is way cheaper.
You sat at my favourite cafe on the Riva! Miss Split, it is so beautiful. I love how you eat and drink through countries and your love for the Balkans. Food in Split does not compare to Bosnia though :)

Great video, well actually, 🇭🇷 have 15 places with sandy beaches, you just have to research a litlle...😉 Maybe the best one is Queens beach in Nin, and next time If you visit my country, my recommondation is Island Rab, its beautiful, Mljet, and also Primošten, Brela Makarska Riviera, Rogoznica... The prices have certainly increased since the introduction of the Euro, but they are not quite as extreme as people made the hype around them, so many people think that it is much more expensive than other tourist countries such as Italy, Greece and Spain, but in fact even with the price increase, it is not more expensive, only Turkey is cheaper and the safety of the country should also be included in all of this, and not that you have to think about something happening to you on vacation

Hello. While Split is Wonder and has many amazing things, it's only the Balkan countries that were under Turks that have a good burek. So the Bsnian burek is the genuine burek.
No worries, plenty of bosnians and albanians in split and croatia alike, they basically have a monopoly on bakeries, i tried burek all across the balkans, still the best one i had in my life was in dubrava, zagreb in one old albaninan's joint, it literally melted in your mouth.
No competition, Bosnia has the best burek and best cevapi..its their national dish thats been adapted by others and made to their tastes..but original is by far, by far better..Bosnia for the win with food in general, Croatia for the win with beaches

@@dabbleandtravel please look up on youtube or otherwise, and then consider visiting Jablanica in Bosnia, and go try what i can only say is world class, maybe the best in the world..whole lambs on spits there, few of the restaurants there are built on cliffs overhanging over river Neretva..the sight, the place, and that Lamb..is unbeatable..doesnt exist I dont think anywhere else in the world all of that

Been to split. Very nice. I loved Dubrovnik better. Obviously a must see is inside the walls but there are some nice beach clubs/ bars right on the outskirts. Enjoy. All the best guys.

Coming to the beautiful Mediterranean city of Split and choosing to eat Bosnian food like chevapi and burek instead of the wonderful local Mediterranean cuisine is a crime.

@@dabbleandtravel If you want to learn something, my mother was born in Split, and I grew up on Dalmatian food. It doesn't resemble Bosnian food at all. Croatian cuisine varies drastically from region to region. The cuisines in Dalmatia, Istria, the Zagreb region, and Slavonia are not similar at all so saying that Croatian cuisine is similar to Bosnian is ridiculous. Croatia was under Venetian influence along the coast and Austro-Hungarian influence inland, both of which have left their mark on the cuisine. Therefore, 'Croatian cuisine' as a singular entity doesn't exist; it's a collection of different cuisines. So it should be clear now that saying Croatian cuisine is similar to Bosnian is inaccurate when it's not even similar within itself. In Croatia, the differences in cuisine are often the source of jokes and humor.

You people are so unaware what they put in a meat grinder or how they scam in Bosnia by selling roasted dogs instead lambs, they have been caught doing many times, I was in Benkovac when we caught one selling dog meat as lamb meat, of a dog which was stolen from some lady from Zagreb by gypsies!
