I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I have looked high and low to find a video on RUclips of someone making one of these, and none exists. I would love to know how to do the full leather braid over the whole of the weighted end, it’s just amazing. I can make stuff from leather, Saps etc, but I can’t make one of these because there’s simply NO video of anyone actually making one.

I live in NY were posessing a black Jack is illegal. I dont know if ordering one is. Does anybody know if i were to place an online order from foster if theyll be legally able to ship it? Id love to have one

Joseph Battaglia hey there! The Foster Bros have shipped to dystopian states like the UK, and Australia...
      NY wouldn’t be a problem...
      DONT GET CAUGHT WITH IT...😅👍
As I say in here as in other vids, the only way you can get a new Foster Impact Device is by being in the FID group on Facebook, and being VERY patient. Only a couple pieces are released a week and they do only 2%-3% of the amount of custom orders... they’re handmade, there’s no stock.
They’re worth it, but are a bit of a unicorn to acquire...

I would also love to know what they use underneath the leather below the weighted end to give the gradual shape narrowing of the blackjack? That’s obviously not just cable underneath there. ?

Most of the black jack makers that I know of are very tight-lipped about their specific techniques, tools and processes. They seem to see their work as special and unique from other makers, and that is reflected in the secrecy with which they do their work. Scott Foster is currently one of if not the best blackjack maker anywhere. A potential downside to that is that his are also the most sought after and expensive to buy. I used to be a moderator in their Facebook group, and anytime he or Todd made anything, there were an average of 15 to 30 gentlemen with fully loaded PayPal accounts clamoring to buy something.
The last year and a half, I have been going back to school to finish some academic degrees.
As a result of having less time, I don’t interact with a lot of my social media friends that are into blackjacks and saps anymore.
Also hard for me to justify a hobby where each piece costs what a very well-made tactical folding knife costs. The average cost when I got into them was around $75ish… now it’s in excess of $150 for a sap or blackjack from them. Think of your favorite most highly regarded production, knife maker, Spyderco, Benchmade, or Zero Tolerance. They are almost as much collectors pieces as they are users. The boutique saps and blackjacks of the last 10 or so years have a similar ethos to them.

Hello, I always wonder how these springs look like because the handle tapers towards the lead piece.?
    Can someone please answer this?

It is something I need to know too. That’s obviously not just a cable under that leather? I make stuff from leather and I would love to make a blackjack like this, but there’s simply NO tutorials anywhere on RUclips of anyone making one. I want to know how they get the wrap right over the weighted end like that, how they weave the leather, and what gives it the gradual shape? But there’s just no videos on these at all. It seems to be a trade secret.

Yeah i've noticed this too. Not a thing that shows how the tapered inner part looks like. I know for fact that the spring loaded ones have a tapered form of a spring in it. So I still wonder how they do this cable ones? And I also wonder which ones handles more effective..
Anyway, thanks a lot for your reply👍🏻✌🏻@@TheGreatest1974

    Hello.
I want to ask you which one of this sap will be more powerfull impat tool:
    - texan
    or
    - bucheimer 211
They both are similar lendth and weight i think...
    Another
question: did you know or can you recomend Davidson leather - he is a
sap and blackjacks maker from UK. Is he worth the money or better to buy
something from D3, Fosters brothers or Greenman leather?
    Best regards

    • @julesthurongi1223
      @julesthurongi1223  5 лет назад +1

      ja ja
The Texan and 211 are so vary similar, that it’d take a lot of physics and calculus to accurately track how much harder each one hit.
On the subject of other makers, both DL and GML can and do make decent lead and leather tools, but keep in mind, it’s my humble opinion that the F-Bros make, hands down, the best...
If you’re after something (a sap especially) I recommend a 4ply sap from Boston Leather, midget, junior, Denver, and Texan. You should be able to find a size that works for you. These will function at least as well as any of the other makers you’ve mentioned, last a reasonably long time (if you do your part in taking care of it) and cost around $28-$35USD instead of the $50-$120 you’ll be charged for saps/jacks that might be a bit better in terms of fit and finish from the other makers...
I’m spoiled and have no shame in saying that I take full advantage of knowing both of the brothers and enjoying a brotherly relationship with them. 👍
