Thank you for sharing your method. I just finished my first diamond painting and I was drawn to your video because of the “keep the shine” notation. You made the steps and items needed very clear and I appreciate that.
Worth telling you this is fantastically helpful to me as a newby to the DP world! Even two years after you posted it. 😊 the damp wipe makes so much sense!
Thank you! It definitely took trial and error for me to figure out what worked best for me and I had to share. I’m really glad you commented to let me know 😊
Getting so popular there kid! Makes me proud of how far you came before you lost interest in diamond painting. All for a good cause though - giving up vaping for baby making! :)
Thank you so much for this great informative video! I just finished my first big painting and will seal it before the end of today! I watched another video that used the same sealer but she did not wipe off the excess sealer on top of the drills😼 I am going to use your method!!! 😺😻
1st thank you for you video I have watched several sealing videos and you are definitely the 1st I've seen come up with this method. The only other paintings I've seen that didn't lsoe shine was the spray on one's (but seemes to be really flexible still and I wonder at long term durability) or the mini wax polycrylic which is super expensive. I did have a question have you tried this with a rinhestone or ab stone painting? And dose it yield the same results I'm currently working on a full rinhestone but I definitely wanna seal it it feels less secure than the other one I have down and I don't wanna lose any Dimonds or shine. Thanks for any help!
Hi! You are right, I have never seen anyone seal diamond pictures like you. This still looks beautiful with a lot of sparkles after sealing!! What did you do differently with the test pattern? Why is it so stiff? And how do you seal square diamonds? I only paint with square diamonds.
Tanja Bross Hello! The test panel was not diluted with any water and was super rigid. Square drills I do the same exact thing. Take your sealant of choice and dilute with some water. Mix it up. Slap it on, wipe off the excess and voila! Beautiful sparkle every time 😊
That is a great question! You do not have to. Some companies even say you don’t have to seal them at all. But, I like to not have the glass in front and I like the ease of wiping them down to clean them. 🙂
It does not affect them at all. You are good to brush and wipe. I have only had AB drills from diamond Art club though. If anything just test a little with the AB drills first. Sorry for the late reply! I bet it turned out beautiful!
I use a latex base paint with a brush. You can use gloss paint or satin paint. Heck even paint with sparkles! The latex helps keep some elasticity in the paint so it is less likely to crack. I did not use primer, just two coats of paint did the trick 😊
I wish I would of watched this video before sealing my diamond dotz painting. I used the same gloss but I didn't wipe it down so you could see some of the gloss pooling in between the drills.
Carla Lavoie you could use mod podge gloss instead. I am not sure how much of a difference it has to the super gloss. As long as you dilute it like the super gloss it should work just fine. When you dilute and wipe away the excess much doesn’t stay on the drills anyways. If you try it please let me know how it worked out for you! ❤️😊
Yes it helps prevent beads from falling. And the best thing for canvas edge I would say is pinking shears or super glue a light layer on edges with a q tip
Do you have a method for sealing a square-drilled Diamond painting? I sealed a round one, but all the rest I have done are square drills! The round one was perfect with the method you showed. I need instructions for a square- drilled piece! Thanks.
Hello Holla holla.... Mod Podge to me had a small glue like odor but very mild.... IMO I am the same as you on the strong odors and this product doesn't bother me at all :) Hope that helps
Understandable! I keep a window cracked and the smell is not as strong as nail polish. Once diluted it smells less strong. I would suggest opening the container and mixing the water in a separate room because the initial smell is the strongest when the new container is opened
SageandCactus it helps keep the fur and dust from sticking to the exposed glue from round drills and makes it easier to clean 😊 it also helps if you have a square canvas with drills popping off
I am removing the top layer from the drills. The diluted solution settles in between all the drills and holds them in place while keeping the sparkle on top of the beads 😊
Thank you for sharing your method. I just finished my first diamond painting and I was drawn to your video because of the “keep the shine” notation. You made the steps and items needed very clear and I appreciate that.
Thank you for the comment and keep on crafting!!
Also, this painting is beautiful. Love the peach background too. Seeing the smile on kitty’s facial expression is delightfully sweet!
Worth telling you this is fantastically helpful to me as a newby to the DP world! Even two years after you posted it. 😊 the damp wipe makes so much sense!
Great method! Sealing, yet not diminishing the sparkle! Thanks!
This looks like the best way to seal. I've watched other videos but like this the best!

Brilliant. Thankyou for showing this technique. Can't wait to try it one my first painting.

Such a great idea!!! I never thought about wiping it off!!!!
Getting ready to seal my paintings, this was a big help. Thank you!!!

Thank you for showing us how to seal the trick seems to be diluting the sealant and wiping off the excess.
Oh and I LOVE that picture!
Loved the video. I saw it after I sealed mine. Is it too late to bring back some sparkle.? I saw someone add some glitter to it. Thanks!
I see the difference between wiping vs not wiping. Thanks for video. I'd like to see the frame. And what is a wrap?
Great video, thank you for sharing. Can you please share how to paint the edges and the different ways of framing and hanging. Thank you again.
Just filmed a framing the other day. It will be my next to edit and post!
Thanks for sharing! Might be a silly question but are you able to wash the cloth or is it a goner after using it to wipe?
Good question! It does wash but not the best. I use dish soap and it is my permanent diamond painting cloth
I would like to see how you seal square diamond paintings
Thank you for the video! What type of cloth did you use?
Thanks for your video..❤
Can you tell me what you should do when part of the artwork isn't diamond dotz. Should I avoid getting mod podge on that part?
Thankyou.

The Casual Crafter Thank you! 😊👍❤️
can i use acrylic gloss varnish polyester? in sealing these like the one for paintings
I’m new to this type of craft. Do you still need to seal it if you plan on putting it in a frame and hanging on the wall?
That is a great question! You do not have to. Some companies even say you don’t have to seal them at all. But, I like to not have the glass in front and I like the ease of wiping them down to clean them. 🙂
Do you trim the canvas with pinking shears or did it come like that?
I'm about to seal my first diamond painting, and I'm wondering if all the brushing and wiping affects ab drills?
It does not affect them at all. You are good to brush and wipe. I have only had AB drills from diamond Art club though. If anything just test a little with the AB drills first. Sorry for the late reply! I bet it turned out beautiful!
awsome tips and demo
What kind of paint did you use on the sides to cover up symbols etc. Did you use primer first?
I use a latex base paint with a brush. You can use gloss paint or satin paint. Heck even paint with sparkles! The latex helps keep some elasticity in the paint so it is less likely to crack. I did not use primer, just two coats of paint did the trick 😊
I wish I would of watched this video before sealing my diamond dotz painting. I used the same gloss but I didn't wipe it down so you could see some of the gloss pooling in between the drills.
Me too. How can we fix this?
Thank you i have done 10 so far and wanted to know how to seal it
Can i ask what you do differently when sealing a square diamond painting? Or do you have a link to a video of you sealing a square diamond painting?
Video coming soon on my next square finish and how I seal it. Pretty much identical to this process 😊
Lovely!!!!!
How long did you let it dry? And is it not sticky?
So I need to dilute it with water so it keeps it shine/sparkle?
do you still need to seal the canvas even if you're gonna frame it?
Where did you get this diamond painting from, its lovely.
I got it from Diamond Art Club. I absolutely love this painting!!
Would you recommend using mod podge gloss, instead of super gloss? I tried 4 different stores and none of them had the super gloss.
@@casualcrafter9545 thank you, I will.
I have a very large square diamond painting, would I seal it the same way as the way you did the round one?
Yes! It works perfectly for square!
Does seal prevents the beads to fall out to? Oh and one more thing, the fabric on my painting is fraying in the sides, is that ok?
Yes it helps prevent beads from falling. And the best thing for canvas edge I would say is pinking shears or super glue a light layer on edges with a q tip
Does this work for square drills to? I want to seal my diamond painting before framing it
Yes ma’am 😊 will be making a square drill video once I finish my next DAC painting. But it is the same process love ❤️
I have a very large square drill I need to seal. Do you have a video for square drills?
Tracy Tomczak that is a lovely question! I do not but could make one. It is the same process I use for round drills 😊❤️
Does the Art Deco retain it’s flexibility also?
Yes ma’am. As long as you dilute it with a bit of water and wipe off the excess from the drills 😊
You said resin around 13 minutes. So are you using resin or the modpodge super gloss?
Modpodge super gloss 😊 seems to work the best for me and that’s what I used in the video
It looks like wiping away the excess is the key no matter what type of sealant you use. Thanks! 💎🎨🏖 Leigh Ann
You’re very welcome! Thank you for commenting and making my day!!
❤
Do you have a method for sealing a square-drilled Diamond painting? I sealed a round one, but all the rest I have done are square drills! The round one was perfect with the method you showed. I need instructions for a square- drilled piece! Thanks.
I don't think it matters, it works for both, I've used it for both round and square drills
Does mod podge have a smell? Becuz I can’t take strong odors.
Hello Holla holla.... Mod Podge to me had a small glue like odor but very mild.... IMO I am the same as you on the strong odors and this product doesn't bother me at all :) Hope that helps

You are correct! Thank you for helping out with awesome insight 😊
Why did your test project become stiff and dull when you used the same product? Thanks for the info and video.
That is a great question. It is because I did not dilute the solution with water and did not wipe off the excess gloss
Ugh wish I saw this before sealing mine. It’s looks ok but kinda matte and very stiff like your example.
Use a toothbrush instead!!!👍👍👍👍
Why seal a diamond painting?
SageandCactus it helps keep the fur and dust from sticking to the exposed glue from round drills and makes it easier to clean 😊 it also helps if you have a square canvas with drills popping off
@@casualcrafter9545 Don't you frame them?
Aren’t you just taking off what you put on when you wipe off?
I am removing the top layer from the drills. The diluted solution settles in between all the drills and holds them in place while keeping the sparkle on top of the beads 😊
