- Defensor is formed from the Protectobots and the Transformers G1 version, complete and in great shape, can set you back. This one is a knock-off “reissue” of the original G1 team and Captain Kyle reviews it in detail to see how it holds up. Is it a worthy addition to your Autobot forces? Watch and find out.
The G1 Protectobots consist of five members. Hot Spot is the leader, joined by Streetwise, First Aid, Blades, and Groove. The origin of Defensor is murky, as he just appeared on the cartoon to offset the Combaticon combiner Bruticus, while in the UK comics there was a shared dream between Optimus Prime and Buster Witwicky that presumably inspired the Autobots to create them. It’s a whole Creation Matrix thing. The toys were available singly or in a gift set. This is a knockoff of the gift set and Captain Kyle checks out the quality of each bot individually and then as their combined form.

I’m loving these KO reviews! With the prices of G1 originals, I see these as the only way I can experience some of the guys I missed back in the day.
The best indicator as to whether or not these combiner team reissue gifts sets are authentic or not is the simple fact that Hasbro has only reissued the Constructions, the Seacons, and the Predacons. Takara/Tomy has only released the same three and the Combaticons. So basically the K/Os are the only "Reissues" of the Aerialbots, the Protectobots, the Stunticons, the Technobots and the Terrorcons. If you want a minty fresh version, the K/Os are your only options. The official Combaticons reissue from the Encore series has several flaws as a result of mold degradation. They used those molds for multiple color variants from multiple lines.
As for other G1 reissues that are always K/Os? Hasbro and Takara/Tomy long ago lost the molds for Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Mirage and the Dinobots. Any "reissue" product you see of any of them is absolutely a knock-off.
Thank you. I bought this reissue for my son for the holidays and I worried about what I'd receive. Now I know what to look for when he opens it and I play with it lol. It tickles me to know he'll have a reproduction of what I played with as a kid in his collection. I'd have loved to get an original, but they cost a bit much. I snagged this guy for 28 dollars. I think he'll love it. (19 in college, not a boy) 🙂

Yes, him and menasor we're built pretty good. I had that set too. My favorite is superion and his legs were awful!
They look Amazing!! I have to get them for my 2001 Ruination/Bruticus
One of the tires on my Hotspot was twisted on the rim. Never looked right even after I adjusted it. The fit and finish just isn't as good as the official releases, but it is fair for the price. The only time I put Hotspot in repair bay mode was when I had him linked with Metroplex's city mode along with Silverbolt.

Got one, Hotspot's fists have smaller holes than the original, and the guns also has smaller pegs, so they can't be attached to the fire truck. Someone my set (bought loose) came with one KO gun and one original, so I can use of each.
Well i've got my g1defensor set in the combiner wars pacjage,not even close original toys, but when i saw the prise i still think that is a good deal)
combiner wars package? if you r saying that the originals dont look or feel like this china kos reissues. I'm sorry they are 99.9% the samething. I have alot of these kos. china has the molds for these. they still make and sell g1 transformers in China and Japan

Very cool. I have the real Hasbro Devastator gift set from Walmart, plus the reissue knock offs of Menasor and Computron as well. Gotta get Bruticus, Superion and Abominus.
@@ToySpotlite yeah my devastator is real but the other two are i think knock offs but like the defensor they look so good it’s hard to tell. I need computron defensor bruticus and superior I have all of them out of box the other day I scored a god ginrai with the add on battler armor set. It’s so beautiful.

You pay for what you get with knock offs. The plastic is lighter in weight, the red coloured plastic is brighter and the metal parts are now plastic
Well, sometimes you are right. Though Hasbro has put out all plastic versions of these. There are some knockoffs that have metal parts, while the official releases are all plastic (Cyber Battalion is one example. )
