Thanks for clarifying why you use 3M silicone vs acrylic pouring silicone. Learned a valuable lesson today. Wish I watched this last night, lol Love your cell dyes!
Whoa! I love how organic those splatter cells are! Makes me want to try some biology looking stuff. Also love your acrylic pour art making an appearance at the start. So cool to see the transfer of skills.
Absolutely incredible video!! I've always appreciated you and your videos... you've never tried to keep any dye "secrets" all to yourself... always willing to share information with the community and help out in any way you can! Kudos, brotha!!
Love the splatter! You are always innovating, i love it. Cool to see you doing regular wall art too. The tool reminds me of a horse brush, which i have, might give it a shot. Thanks Rob!
Really appreciate the detailed knowledge you share. I was curious what your process is for the cell dyed canvas on your wall. How long does it stay in the bed, and how do you clean the canvas. I would love to be able to make some for my non disc golf playing family.
I have made a tools similar to that, have you considered putting that jig into the floetrol and using it to make symmetrical circular rings? You would just put whatever colors you want in each ring, lift the tool, slide a paper plate underneath and let the rings merge together. Just a thought
I'm just about to start dying discs and WOW, your work is impressive! If I don't have a heat lamp, do you suggest letting the discs sit in the dye for 24 hours?
Is the heat lamp that you use a 250 Watt infrared heat lamp with the Clamp Light Lamp up to 150 Watts? Is that correct? Just want to make sure I'm getting the correct supplies.
Just followed your tutorial and it came out fantastic using the last bed - didn’t have the tool for the splatter so went chameleon but what would you do with a bed like this after? Is there a second generation that can be done?
Glad to hear you're getting good results! You can definitely use the bed again. I usually add some more colors between uses but it's up to you if that's necessary.
@ currently swiped Caribbean blue but may have put a little too much on for the swipe. The edges didn’t really get good cell formation / were predominantly blue even after a silicone 3n1 poker.
Thanks for putting this together Rob! As great as the content is, I cant help but notice the custom built FPV drones on the wall in the background. Do you fly FPV drones as well? I just got into the hobby this year and absolutely love it! 😊
I built and flew fpv drones before getting into disc golf. Don't fly then much these days as I don't have room for all these hobbies, but I still keep around to fly from time to time.
@LilbotDiscGolf I hear you, so many hobbies, so little time! I think disc golf and FPV can compliment each other well. I love it when I get opportunities to chase other people's shots 😎
i've been using electical tape....easy to manuever around the rim but white glue the seam overlay....but you could use vinyl or contact paper and even white glue (2x)
Hey man thanks a lot for the tutorial. Just one question - Can i just "refill" the squeeze bottles when I nearly emptied them or clean them first and fill completely fresh?
thanks for all the info! does using more/less amounts of dye powder affect the colors shade at all? or should just purchase more colors😅 tore my meniscus last month so learning these techniques is helping me stay connected to the sport i love. thanks!
For reusing the beds, are you getting all of the silicone oil off with the the saran wrap you use to store it? Just curious how to make sure all of the oil from the previous dye is removed. Thanks!
is your floetrol and water mixture not wrong? You filled some water first, then combined with "4oz" of floetrol by filling it to the line, but the water already present would offset that. So you likely had more like 3oz of floetrol no? Does the consistency change anything during the dying process, or is it moreso affecting pours and design layouts in the bed?
If you add too much water it can affect the consistency but I try use a minimal amount. It's not technically correct to the recipe sheet but that sheet is not something that needs to be perfectly adhered to.
How do you get your flame scarlet lines to sit on top of the white? Are you adding more floetrol to the flame scarlet squirt bottle? Mine always sink pretty bad

Happy to help!
Seconded!
The tip about blowing the plastic wrap into the round pans rocked 👍
Sheeesh! Dude, such nice work! Thanks for all the tips and direction, I will love to put all this to use.
Your skills at disc dying are some of the best I’ve seen. Great techniques. Very creative.
Much appreciated thank you
Said it before and I’ll say it again. You are a BEAST!
Thank you for this video! A great video for people getting started! ❤
You're so welcome!

The splatter cells are so much fun. Like freeform cells on steroids

Thanks so much! No secrets here just trying to help everyone have a good time

Nice give it a shot!
What a treat! Thanks for your efforts. I appreciate the opportunity to learn about the techniques you use
My pleasure glad you enjoyed it
Love it, Rob. Thanks again for sharing so freely, you’re an inspiration. Looking forward to getting my splatter tool in the mail!
You're welcome. Can't wait to see what you come to with!
Awesome work Lilbot, thank you!
Glad you like it!

Very nice stuff!
Thank you! Cheers!
I can’t seem to find an Afro pick with removable tines. Thanks for the videos. Well done.

That was the idea when I first designed that tool, and you can definitely try it. The issue I had was the oil jumped off the tool too easily
what was left behind after the first transfer was even better I think. Id want that on a disk over the first transfer, Looks like big flower pedals
I'm just about to start dying discs and WOW, your work is impressive! If I don't have a heat lamp, do you suggest letting the discs sit in the dye for 24 hours?
Sure but I highly recommend getting a lamp or dehydrator

Question on mvp or axiom discs what would be the best way to go about keeping the dye off the rims?
i've been using electical tape....easy to manuever around the rim but white glue the seam overlay....but you could use vinyl or contact paper and even white glue (2x)
Hey man thanks a lot for the tutorial. Just one question - Can i just "refill" the squeeze bottles when I nearly emptied them or clean them first and fill completely fresh?
I just refill them but after a while they get some gunk in them and need to be cleaned
thanks for all the info!
does using more/less amounts of dye powder affect the colors shade at all? or should just purchase more colors😅
tore my meniscus last month so learning these techniques is helping me stay connected to the sport i love. thanks!
Adding more or less dye will affect the saturation. If you add too much though it will cause your colors to bleed together
@@LilbotDiscGolf awesome thanks!
your videos have been incredibly helpful!
When using the poker/afro pick……. Are you going all the way to the pan or just breaking the surface?
Great video and very informative!
With 3 in 1 silicone that does not matter. Either works
Where did you buy that silicone oil? Great work as always
You should be able to get it from the dyers guild website.
If i dont have a heat lamp, how long should i be leaving discs to treat in the dye? Ive heard 24+ hours.
For the hall cells can I use the 3 in one silicone instead of the acrylic silicone oil in the dyes
If you're talking about Halo cells then no. 3 in 1 doesn't do well for that
For reusing the beds, are you getting all of the silicone oil off with the the saran wrap you use to store it? Just curious how to make sure all of the oil from the previous dye is removed. Thanks!
The seran wrap should remove all the excess oil
Thank you! I really appreciate you getting back to me and for putting out this video. I've been going hard with cell dyes
@@LilbotDiscGolfIf I use a bed for lava cells, can I use it again for lava cells? Thank you again
What are some good tips for using black dye been having issues using it.
When in doubt add more dye. Also idye poly black > PCAD onyx
@@LilbotDiscGolf yea been doin the exact ratio mix and it's been coming out very faded with onyx
@@LilbotDiscGolfWould I use the same ratio mix as the pcad mix using the same little chart u use for prochem

In my experience it doesn't sink as rapidly as other colors. You could try warming it up a bit first
@@LilbotDiscGolf okay thank you dude. Would love to watch some acrylic/floetrol tutorials done by you next. Appreciate you a lot Rob!
is the bed reusable over and over again for the splatter cell method?
Yup it's reusable for any method.
Wow! Will this work with alcohol ink?
Not likely. You need a dye designed for use on plastics
@LilbotDiscGolf thank you, I'm dyeing abs plastic thats been vacume formed for a cosplay costume. Would this method work?
Yep now I need 3 in 1 silicone oil now
You won't regret it. It's the best
