Grand Rapids Mi here.. i have been telling my fiancé since September that this winter for us is going to be different from last. bring on the Lake Effect snow ❄️ ⛄️
Man! It's time for us to hit the lottery jackpot with snow here in the piedmont of North Carolina. It's been almost 3 years since we had any measurable snow and about 7 years since we had a big snow event.
In SW Virginia, the 7 day forecast for the 3rd of Dec says 29F for a High and 13F for a low. That is crazy cold for us! And the 7th seems ever more cold!
David, Go back to 1997 & see what is coming the Arctic Air hit 2 days after thanksgiving & lasted till February 15th & I lived in Iowa then!! It didn’t get above Zero for all of December & January that winter was brutal till the middle of February with no let up of the Arctic Air!!
Bring it on baby. For the last several years, we barely got any snow. We want a blizzard in Denver, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois, and New York, New York!!! I remember several years ago in Chicago when they claimed we’re gonna get 6 feet of snow and I stayed up all night until 2 AM and nothing then when I woke up in the morning, there was 4 feet of snow. It was awesome.
Going by the Euro model for my area of NEPA, looks like were going to have the cold in place, but not the precipitation for a big storm, just the little clipper systems every now and then. We need that North and South energy to meet up with one another to produce a significant snowfall. I'm a little disappointed with this storms timing. But oh well its very early in the season..the good news is we have a great pattern setup we just need more precip!
I just wish you showed the upper peninsula michigan in the total snowfall part on the ECMWF as that's where I live. Seeing the differences of the two models would've been awesome. I love your content though always accurate and easy to understand.
Another Yooper here. We are definitely in a lake effect belt where we live. Have about 5” on the ground now, 14” forecast by midday Friday, by the end of next week is going to potentially be pretty wild. Put the snowblower on the tractor yesterday to be ready.
Philly just never seems to get snow anymore. Hasn’t snowed here good in like 8 years. I feel like this Winter is going to be another dull, sunny, freezing cold winter with no snow. So dumb.
Can we get a range of temperature here? or are we just gonna freak people out? What are we talking about? 20 degrees F? 15 degrees F? -5, -10, -20? FFS
Depends on your average. If it usally aroung 40F in your area for this time of year and its showing 30F below normal then you can expect 10F to be your real temp.
There is no Monster Snowstorm coming for places like Ohio, Pa. I wish there was, but there just isn't. Now, areas by the lakes will get heavy lake effect snow.
The weather we've experienced in recent years is nOt NaTuRal and neither are the causes.. it's hard to grasp how so many can be so dismissive and niave even now while remaining unmoved from their trust and complacency
Clearly didn’t watch the video. By cold I don’t mean normal temperatures, models indicate temperatures 15 to 30 degrees below normal will be widespread and last days at a time on multiple occasions potentially over the coming weeks. This is rather extreme and the most consistent and intense cold pattern I’ve seen in my 5 years on RUclips. Probably the most wintry looking pattern we’ve had since 2013 - 2014.
It’s hard to believe how fast winter has arrived, temperatures have only been reaching into the 30s and snow covers the ground now completely. I remember 2 months ago it was still Summer but now fast forward 2 months later and now Winter is here still have a hard time fathoming how Winter can begin so fast felt like we went from summer straight into winter! I really wish winter was over already!
Completely false. The NWS is calling for severe cold in the east on their 6-10 day outlook, 8-14 day outlook, 3-4 week outlook and also now showing a potentially colder look for their entire December forecast.
Can’t wait for the warmer days of spring to arrive I’m really hoping it actually stops snowing when it’s spring but of course that never ends up being the case Winter doesn’t truly end until around May or June, a long ways to go before winter ends…..
@punchfreneticallydot Wow. You must live in the North. When March gets here, in the South, it usually means a warm up and Spring is pretty close. But always a few cold spells as we call them. Hope you get Spring early this (next) year. I'm always hoping for Spring. From Halloween on...
@seanslattery6366 Yea, the tendency to slip into jargon for accuracy when not communicating with your fellow specialists is understandable. I just wish some weather guys would put a lexicon of acronyms that they use to get people familiar with the terms.
its not really a snowy pattern in the east other than within the Great Lakes......effects, ......moisture again is limited with cold dry air masses...........continually diving southeast, most long range forecasts indicate this cold pattern will not last going further into the winter , and warmth and moisture THEN will return within that warmth after December
We still don’t know what will happen with our patterns this winter. We very well could see some more cold and relatively neutral patterns in the Midwest/Ohio Valley and we still don’t know the chances of that happening yet. This reminds me of what happened in early June in my area when temps dropped into the 40s for a few days. Things heated up to nearly 100° around the start of the summer season. This was the last wild temperature swing I remember.
Arrows and circles bouncing everywhere with color codes of all sorts which I guess means that it is going to snow somewhere by today, tomorrow, or sometime.
Might be a different run. Make sure you're looking at The 12z run. It’s important to note that 12z and 0z runs are full runs of the model, 6z and 18z runs are re samples of the prior runs and tend to be a little wonky and less accurate. This is why often times I refer to to the 12z and 0z even if there are 6z or 18z runs available.
Would be great if it actually snowed in the northeast to help with the drought even though it’s rained it still hasn’t precipitated enough to balance it out
Unfortunately, there’s an increasing chance of the Thanksgiving storm being the last rain or snow until January or perhaps February in many parts of the northeast. I would expect a widespread exceptional drought to form over the winter.
WHOO, HOLD up you said ,yesterday, feet of snow by Thanksgiving in nys! Now you don't even mention it! Iam never watching another video of yours! You couldn't forcast your way out of a toilet
It's hard to be accurate when the radar is guessing based on what average temperatures are in the country. Honestly, our country has no average; we're always breaking records.
I try to tell everyone repetitively that it’s just a model run and it tends to be too far southeast and that it’s not my forecast it’s just a model run. What has transpired is exactly what I’ve said over and over again if you’d listen. Anything is possible of course and I always mention that. But my thoughts was that it wasn’t coming north to the interior northeast.
@DirectWeather you personally said" I am sticking to my guns on this one" you, circled my area and said up to feet, not a little , not inches, FEET! Not models, because models don't come with your marks, and comments that's YOU!
Grand Rapids Mi here.. i have been telling my fiancé since September that this winter for us is going to be different from last. bring on the Lake Effect snow ❄️ ⛄️
I just want big snow, but Louisville sucks so bad they can’t even winter right.
Dang. Seems like every storm hits the mountains of west Virginia and we get no snow here in the Piedmont of Virginia.
I predict we may get a couple snow storms and cold weather thru the midwest over the next few months.
Tn waiting for snow to come our way ❄️
Well I live in central Ohio and it’s a dream to have a snow on thanksgiving and it looks like it will be a decent amount of it. Bring It On.!
Meeee toooo feel the same way super excited 🥶🥶🥶☃️☃️☃️🌲🌲🌲
I’m praying for the families with out a house in the bad weather states
Please help them if possible 😢
It’s a dam shame for America government 😢😢😢
The people are shameful

I'm in dirty Winston. It's been so warm here for so long!
I used to live in that area, remember that crazy storm? I think it was the year before Covid
Rain and gray skies in Hotlanta on Thanksgiving, as usual. ; )
In SW Virginia, the 7 day forecast for the 3rd of Dec says 29F for a High and 13F for a low. That is crazy cold for us! And the 7th seems ever more cold!
We will be breaking historical record lows for several days in TN. And it's not even winter yet!
Thanks for the great news. We need snow!
If you look out your window and it’s snowing it will be snowing
That makes no sense
Bring it on. Snowmobile time
Yeah buddy..trailer sleds ready to roll
I’m still waiting for the snow here in the Berkshires (Massachusetts) 🥲❄️
Haven't had a decent snow event in cny since I bought a new snowblower.😅😅😅
I love cold and snow
Blizzard 96 🤞
I hope and pray 🙏

I hate cold and snow. Moved from Minnesota to Alabama and couldn't be happier.
Panhandle of VA here and we travel and full time in an RV! We keep warm in below freezing .. but lets see how we do in 20 degrees!
We want snow in DC please!!!
No rain beyond Thanksgiving for the rest of 2024, let alone snow.
Thank you for your exceptional channel.😊
Awesome video! You’re the best! Can’t wait for this bone chilling cold weather 😎
Nahhh Direct Weather be weathered😂

global warming
yes please the southeast needs record breaking snow fall.
Those purple and pinks on European shifting 50-100 miles to the West for December 11th would be nice in NJ for snowfall lol.
NJ won’t see rain, let alone snow during the entire month of December.
Ain't gonna be no snow yet 🤠
Not only will there be no snow, a lot of places in the northeast and Midwest won’t see a drop of rain in December.
Going by the Euro model for my area of NEPA, looks like were going to have the cold in place, but not the precipitation for a big storm, just the little clipper systems every now and then. We need that North and South energy to meet up with one another to produce a significant snowfall. I'm a little disappointed with this storms timing. I used to love winter in Chicago cause of the snow , now none of these storms even come close
It looks like a mix bag of Winter weather with alternating warm and cold spells.
Dude trust me, Floridian here... I'm looking forward to some cooler temperatures.
Other weather people are saying no big storms coming. Just lake effect snows and clipper systems for the Ohio valley and Northeast.
It would be nice for some snow for the central Midwest
I just wish you showed the upper peninsula michigan in the total snowfall part on the ECMWF as that's where I live. Seeing the differences of the two models would've been awesome. I love your content though always accurate and easy to understand.

One thing I have learned about Baltimore is that we get the cold only after the rain. That way we get no snow.
Can we get a range of temperature here? or are we just gonna freak people out? What are we talking about? 20 degrees F? 15 degrees F? -5, -10, -20? FFS

Plan for cold
Atlanta--low to mid 20s at night and in early morning mainly in early Dec.
You scared Dan?
Weather channel in Pittsburgh is all rain for this one
Bring on the rain for south central Texas
I wish for when you look at the total snow when your zoomed in to get an idea of how much you would show more of the UP
Most places will see a warm rain on Thanksgiving. Beyond this, the dry pattern will likely return with a vengeance.
Yeah right! 😅😅😅😅
There is no Monster Snowstorm coming for places like Ohio, Pa. I wish there was, but there just isn't. Now, areas by the lakes will get heavy lake effect snow.

True and well-documented. Very few know or seem to care.
The problem with models are they are inaccurate. For days snow was predicted for the northeast.... now rain. Totally unreiable.
I wish you’d stop with the monster storm.
It's a pretty big storm where iam at
Yeah I’m sure you’re right. Multiple Feet of lake effect snow over the course of 3 or 4 days is nothing major.
Cold weather and snow for weeks?
Omg it’s Winter and I didn’t know it Is Coming.

Cold rain at best.
No monster snow ❄️ storm is coming here to Mn!🤪🤪
Who is in charge of Haarp Weather Satellites.?
Nope, just winter in Maine

SYNOPTIC snow storm ?
Haha i was just wonderinv what the heck that means . Kinda fancy for us with normal vocabularies
@seanslattery6366 Yea, the tendency to slip into jargon for accuracy when not communicating with your fellow specialists is understandable.
I just wish some weather guys would put a lexicon of acronyms that they use to get people familiar with the terms.
It means general snowfall in lake snow country from a system passing through. Lake snow sits in one place for days on end
Basically a normal snowstorm from a low pressure system and not lake effect snow which is caused by cold air over warm water.
Google it.
Why are you skipping days??
