I've been singing for a long time, and it is beyond me how she sings as she does. There's magic - and her voice sounds like it's even coming from her pores. It's otherworldly in beauty and technique. She's magic.
Oh am I ever glad I stumbled across this! I remember hearing this song many years ago and kinda forgot about it..'til now! Had no idea they performed it LIVE together! Awesome.
wow...they actually looked like they were having fun..so rare with Peter (big fan), since everything is always so rehearsed. Wish I was there....sounds...looks amazing...thanx for posting.
What a great combination! Voices from The Blue Nile and Cocteau Twins...two bands that had a profound effect on me in the 80s and 90s. I still enjoy their music to bits!
Oh thank you! I knew that Liz had collaborated with Peter some time ago and was dying to see/hear them. I didn't know the other guy, but they sound good together.
Amazing. From Peter's OVO album - get it, put it on, (skip Track 1) and then imagine this as the most stunning production you've ever seen in the centre and full height of the Millenium Dome. Peter's greatest work. I so wish it had had more than a 12 month run.
It would be so nice to have an upgraded version of this video. 144p doesn't make it these days, maybe 11 years ago when it was uploaded and I remember seeing it for the first time, it brought tears to my eyes. Please reupload it as a 480p at least.
Today I bought The Blue Nile's A Walk Across the Rooftops. I listened to it (wow), then decided to look for some Cocteau Twins on YT......This song came up and would you believe it... Mr Buchanan himself. How amazing is this song???!!!!
Gran Maestro. Saludos desde México.
@dam4742 She used to be very shy and nervy all the way back to the early 80s, and then there were the misbehaving tape machines on stage to make things worse. There was also a bit of substance abuse apparently, he was drunk and she did a bit of acid, not the best way to perform! Best perfomances are the mature confident last ones, such as on Later with Jools Holland just before, ironically, they broke up
Peter Gabriel Live - 'Downside-Up' featuring Elizabeth Fraser/Vocals (Cocteau Twins) - Paul Bachanan/Vocals - Adrian Belew/Lead Guitar (King Crimson, Talking Heads 'Remain in Light') - Tony Levin/Bass (King Crimson, John Lennons 'Double Fantasy', Peter Gabrial 'So')
fraser is an angel in human shape
Liz Fraser and Paul Buchanan on the same stage at the same time. Two of the best ever Scottish singers. Wonderful.
I've been singing for a long time, and it is beyond me how she sings as she does. There's magic - and her voice sounds like it's even coming from her pores. It's otherworldly in beauty and technique. She's magic.
even Peter must ve felt honored to have liz singing with him
LIZ IS FANTASTIC!!!
Paul from the Blue Nile still sounds amazing! What a singer. Listen to Hats 21+ yrs on and it's still so fresh....
Peter Gabriel and band. Featuring Elizabeth Fraser (from Cocteau Twins) and Paul Buchanan (from THE BLUE NILE). Excellent vocal casting!!!
Cocteau Twins has always been among my favorites. This vid is a good example of why. Thanks to Liz, Peter and all the musicians!
Her voice is SO good and distinctive
Thank you so much for posting this - Liz as always amazing beyond belief
Breathtakingly Beautiful!
Never tire of watching this, so wonderful on many levels. Yes PBJ an acoustic version would be a thing of joy too I'm sure- some tender strings.
OMG! How did I not know about this? Thanks for posting this! Miss BLUE NILE as much as the Cocteaus. And Gabriel, legend
Oh am I ever glad I stumbled across this! I remember hearing this song many years ago and kinda forgot about it..'til now! Had no idea they performed it LIVE together! Awesome.
tx for posting
elizabeth always great...
Thanks so much for this great find.
Wow, wonderful arrangement and 3 great voices. Rock on Peter, was that a smile?
wow...they actually looked like they were having fun..so rare with Peter (big fan), since everything is always so rehearsed. Wish I was there....sounds...looks amazing...thanx for posting.

Astounding. Talk about a heavenly host.

Lovely..........just lovely!
Oh thank you! I knew that Liz had collaborated with Peter some time ago and was dying to see/hear them. I didn't know the other guy, but they sound good together.

Peter Gabriel is a genius.
Sublime
Brilliance! Thank you!

what a blend of artists...
Love it!!! Thanks.
Dzięki, wielkie dzięki.
This is from Peter Gabriel's "The Millenium Show." I bought it because of this song with Liz in it!
Yes it is Peter & the Twins... Love that he is playing the keyboards :o) & backing vocals!!! Fabulous. . .
It would be so nice to have an upgraded version of this video. 144p doesn't make it these days, maybe 11 years ago when it was uploaded and I remember seeing it for the first time, it brought tears to my eyes. Please reupload it as a 480p at least.
The two best singers from Scotland!!
Magic!
nice mix thanks ^_^
The wonderful paul Buchanan!
Thanks!!!
Today I bought The Blue Nile's A Walk Across the Rooftops. I listened to it (wow), then decided to look for some Cocteau Twins on YT......This song came up and would you believe it... Mr Buchanan himself. How amazing is this song???!!!!
La mejor versión de este tema.
thanks pilgram!
What? You're kiding aren't you?
It has worked perfectly. That's why it's so emotional......
great stuff!!
Love Peter Gabriel & Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins).
trio strepitoso!!!
perfect ;))
Paul Buchanan, singer with the blue nile. Check out the song `Tinseltown in the rain` from their session on Jools Holland.
NO, it's not.
But it IS Peter, and Elizabeth Fraser, and Paul Buchanan!; three of the most distinctive voices on record. And that's enough....
His voice is reminiscent of Robbie Robertson.
the guitar players are David Rhdes with the Fradua sunburst, and Richard evans with the Rickenbaker 360/12
But who is the young guitarist in black - been bugging me for years, because I recognise him.
Paul Buchanan. Love his voice. Very vulnerable & seductive.
Liz, anyone with a pair of ears already recognizes yer' greatness.
HATS has always been a big favourite of mine.
wow, the 2 best vocal artists ever on 1 stage. is there some original recording of this concert?
what a beatiful version

Peter Gabriel - Elizabeth Fraser and Paul Buchanan
thanks i´ll check his backround
The only thing that would make this cooler was Brian Eno turned up with a tuba!
The only member from Cocteau Twins featuring in this track is LIZ FRASER.
Well, it's only Liz from Cocteau Twins! The other singer is another Scottish guy, Paul Buchanan, from a great Glaswegian band called The Blue Nile!
And T-Lev on bass! Zowie! Yeah, I want the DVD, now.
Great song....wonder if this will be done on the New Blood tour -- though I love the way david cuts loose on the guitar there for a bit.
To cover up Liz Fraser's mistakes - only shows how good he is improvising like that...
A room full of pros!!
2.27 An angel walks in to the room
to be accurate this is peter gabriel with liz fraser, she is the only cocteau twin here as far as I can see
Melvin will Love it
Peter should bow down and pay homage to her. he had his own stuff, but she made him go to another realm.
Made in Scotland (so proud!)
Peter Gabriel, Liz Fraser AND Paul Buchanan!
@remembertidusbramble isnt it amazing 3 of the most creative forces in music over the past 20 years on stage at once
O, it's still there! Never mind...
Wielkie dzięki! Wspaniały kawałek...
Is this piece available on any CD?
fucking amazing..........
Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins and Paul Buchanan of the Blue Nile.
buy it on Peter's OVO album
Not Gabriel's greatest moment. Paul Buchanan brings substance to anything he touches though..
@dam4742 She used to be very shy and nervy all the way back to the early 80s, and then there were the misbehaving tape machines on stage to make things worse. There was also a bit of substance abuse apparently, he was drunk and she did a bit of acid, not the best way to perform! I missed this! Gimme the line-up?
Peter Gabriel Live - 'Downside-Up' featuring Elizabeth Fraser/Vocals (Cocteau Twins) - Paul Bachanan/Vocals - Adrian Belew/Lead Guitar (King Crimson, Talking Heads 'Remain in Light') - Tony Levin/Bass (King Crimson, John Lennons 'Double Fantasy', Peter Gabrial 'So')
Adrian Belew is nowhere to be found on that stage.
Guitarist is David Rhodes
I agree,
Long live Scotland (in this case)!
Peter should bow down and pay homage to her. he had his own stuff, bet she made him go to another realm.
Is this on a cd I could buy?
Looks and sounds like Tony Levin is playing bass in here.
when was this?
Is that male singer from Blue Nile?
does peter knows how to put great talent up on the stage or what?
Nobel for music, NOW!
Liz Fraser is not from the Cocteau Twins. She's from the former Cocteau Twins. There's a difference.
Clannad? Are you thinking of Enya?
Is that - Moby?
