Keep in mind after your second application you will most likely notice growth suppression of your desirable turf. Apparently this is a common thing to happen according to Nufarm. I'm going the Scott's Pro Vista route this fall. I've tried all of the home remedies/cocktails - including not watering my lawn for a month during a drought, but the poa still lived. Until this year when I didn't try.. a combination of slightly over-applying AMS, & trinexelpac-ethyl while it was going through fungal pressure killed the annua and put the triv into hard dormancy. The RPR looks great - however my lawn looks awful - like swiss cheese. I know it'll come back - it always comes back. I hope the velocity works out for you! The struggle is real.
It seems to me that using the low rate/slow conversion in combination with overseeding will be the winning approach. Too early for me to confirm but I think that could be the way to go.
The lawn looks great before and after. Looking forward to seeing the final results. Is this product for people trying to go the extra mile or for folks in a worse off starting state? Also does the Lawn Engineer make house calls? It’d be sweet to get the professional evaluation of my lawn and learn what I should be doing. I’m happy to pay for extra help, but recently got into doing the work myself learning along the way from folks like Vince. Good inspiration to step away from the computer. A big thing I’ve learned recently is the importance of watering. It seems like good soil, good seed, and good water is all that is required. Results are quite amazing growing in hot PA summer. 😎 as I approach my ultimate Hank Hill future life…. I’m curious if you could help me with a more techy question. How do you expect soil moisture content to change over the season? My models tell me that average soil moisture is quite high in the winter because evaporation rates are low. In the summer I show rates are much higher, so rain / irrigation is required to keep even soil moisture %. It’d be great to chat with you about this if you grab a moment. You’re looking good in those glasses and echo jacket by the way 😎 😂

I'll be interested to see if it works..... I'm running out of hope. I've used Prograss EC for Poa Annua.... expensive and no results after multiple applications.
We have two more apps to go. App 2 will be next week. App 3 will be in late July. I hope to have it completely gone by time we overseed later in August.

@@TheLawngineer i remember watching that video and commenting on it. It more than likely was the seed, especially seeing how the POA is spread out. In the end, it's costing you more than the bag of seed with having to shell out a lot of money on the Velocity. Curious if you've reached out to them about a refund?
@@delt19 I probably should talk to them about it. I’m not sweating it though. Happy to create the content and share my experience with others. Regarding the cost of Velocity PM, I was able to split it with a few friends… so I was only out about $50 in the end. There is so much in the bottle that it’s virtually impossible for one person to go through all of it on a single property unless you have many acres of land. I think NuFarm should consider selling smaller quantities.
I’m curious if it just takes a very long time to work. I use Acclaim Extra on my Triv spots every Spring (labeled to control roughstalk bluegrass aka Triv) and it either kills the Triv or suppresses it to the point where I can’t see it anymore. Only downside is it basically nukes everything including my TTTF blades. But, the fescue always grows back thick and full with zero triv after. There’s still always some patches each Spring that come back but it seems to smoke most of it off since there’s less and less each year. But back to my original point, right when you think Acclaim did nothing after waiting weeks, it starts to show serious results around week 4-5 where the Triv looks like Hay at that point, burnt to the ground. Then by the 2 month mark, everything is usually filled back in with good grass. Curious if Velocity PM is a similar slowburn systemic that just takes time as well. Also, Acclaim does the same, stunts the growth of the sprayed spots for a few weeks
I've not had the same luck with Acclaim Extra. I think it suppresses the triv but only temporarily, as it grows back in the same places each year. I did three apps, 7 days apart this spring. Curious to know your treatment protocol. A lot of debate on whether or not that label is accurate too (I had called Bayer at one point and they had told me it would not be effective on triv).
@@mooch91 What rate are you spot spraying at? I’ve never done more than 2 apps, even one is usually enough, just takes times to work. I always spot spray the higher rate at 0.75oz/gall in early Spring then if needed come back about a few weeks later and spray the lower rate of 0.5oz/gall. By early May the lawn usually looks clean with no sign of triv. I take it it nuked that whole area with 3 separate apps 7 days apart? I know the label says to wait 14 days for a followup spray if needed.
