A little help If you’re considering dabbling w it in the future again.
1:Instead of shaving the long strings of, you can just pull them out and if you end up collecting enough you can use it at a pillow filling or something similar, or just throw it out.
2: instead of cutting the cloth up to the yarn you’re supposed to leave like an inch outside of it, that you glue to the back of the rug, either with spray adhesive or with a glue gun or similar.

I love that Jazza essentially speedruns the history of artistic mediums. yes he could just follow instructions entirely but, showing us why concessions are made, why decisions are made when it comes to these mediums is important. it's entertaining but, shows how these things had to develop to get here as well.

  • @pmgreatorex
    @pmgreatorex 7 месяцев назад +7

Jazza, my Grandma taught me this craft when I was a little girl in the 1960s. However, the materials were simpler. Grandma used hessian, recycled from sacks that had held chook feed. The tool was a simple brass hollow needle of about 15cm with a beveled end which pierced the hessian. Before starting, she threaded the wool (which would have been left over from a garment that she’d knitted) through the top end of the brass needle until it emerged from the bottom, pointy end. The wool was in a hand wound ball in her basket. I remember there was a screw on the side of the needle which adjusted the tension. I’m sure Grandma used a frame but I can’t remember it. I do remember the pretty punched wool rugs on the floor of her kitchen, which she backed with, probably, more recycled hessian. I really enjoyed your video but I can hear Grandma turning in her grave at the thought of spending $1000 on the set up. (She lived through the Great Depression and was still saving cotton wool from pill bottles in the 1980s. She was also from a German family and you didn’t waste anything.) As a maker all my life, I happily put my hand up and admit to jumping on the latest fad and spending far too much on stuff. That’s why they invented Marketplace!

Your rugs came out wonderful, I’m sure your kiddos are super excited by their new floor ornamentation😁
If you do make a massive rug I hope you hang it like a tapestry during your wintery June and July months. My suggestion would be to stick with the stained glass aesthetic cause it really works well with this medium, and to do either a Godzilla vs Kong scene or a Pacific Rim Kaiju battle.

If you want an idea for a large scale rug like Nerdforge, I think a good idea would be your old backdrop. Or maybe the backdrop you all painted for Insert Art, or something in that style.

I saw Nerdforge's video before this one and while I was watching yours, I was like "I wonder if Jazza has seen Martina's video yet." That last bit answered my question lollll

I would love to see a massive Erdtree rug to celebrate the new Elden Ring DLC coming out!
I think the bright colors of the tree on a bleak background would aggressively draw the eye!

Jazza! To compete with Nerd Forge you are going to have to do something epic. The thing that comes to mind is a battle tapestry with space bears. Would love to see that!

Jazza, give oil sticks a crack. Lots of fun, pretty much oil pain in stick form... glorofied crayons, but with more blending etc can be used with oil paints. Makes a hell of a mess, super fun

I'm sorry but the paint splat w/out any context looks like a puddle of blood to me. All I can think looking at the three projects is that Jazzatar stabbed someone with a pencil leaving nothing but a puddle of blood at the scene of the crime.

Hey Jazza, on the wool winder, where the metal guide arm keeps moving around and you have to keep straightening it while you wind, rip apart an old clicky pen and remove the spring. Slide the spring over the end of the metal guide arm and work it all the way to the flat part of the L. It will prevent that arm from wiggling into the unlocked position.

Here I am, Saturday morning catching up on my YT videos, and I'm like what are the chances that I'm watching two rug making videos. I'm glad you mention NerdForge. You need to make the dragon to compliment her piece.

The Easter is here. You can try an old slavic tradition where you draw on eggs. It's called pysanka.
Or you can try drawing IN glass. Like with a glass cutter and decorate a wine bottle with it or something.
    I don't think you've done these before.

To be honest with a bit of guidance, you learnt it pretty quickly and the paint blob rug with so much curve and blending colours looks pretty advance for a beginner. And your avatar is amazing ❤ I’ve been following you a long time and you definitely have a talent for learning new art.

Satisfying as well for the jazzatar, which is usually the dabble, to the wonder of being a the dive.
Also a jazza giant rug, obviously must include a dragon, and maybe a castle. Perhaps bring shad in as a collag for the castle design.

Great video. I had never heard of tufting but it looks awesome. I would like to see a massive rug paying homage to all the 80’s American action TV shows. The A Team, Knight rider, Dukes of Hazzard, Airwolf, The Fall Guy, Miami Vice etc. you can probably tell they are from my childhood! Great job Jazza!

Do one of your murals as a rug!! Saw someone say one of your first ones with all the characters. But the colorful one would be dope too!!! Turn your murals into a giant rug!!
