Absolutely loved this whole series, I think you made the right decisions in basically every aspect, redesigning the dude at the top, the red flickering lava lights, the paint scheme, just great
I love that you share how you feel during a project. When I paint I go through such a range of emotion, mostly feeling like I have to make it perfect. Painting for others I think reinforces that. The board looks amazing! I appreciate all of your efforts in sharing what you go through.
Wow!!!! What a fun episode! Perfectionism can be crippling. It is good to see other artists go through this process. Especially someone of your caliber! Thanks for sharing your creative madness
Thank you so much - I struggled so much in this episode I felt it was important to share. Super happy with the end results, though! Can’t wait to make the box and play the game!
You worry too much. it is through failing that we succeed. And let me say sir you have done an amazing job. Love your content. have faith in yourself you are amazing
I really like hearing all your thoughts and feelings during the process. I also appreciate that you explain almost every tool you use! Often times I watch creators use a tool and think "well...what is that and why did they choose it?" You do a great job of explaining all of that. Idk if you teach, but you'd be great at it!
Thank you! I have taught in the past and enjoyed it immensely. Encouraging others to make always helps me to find the energy to get through my own projects.
I’ve been waiting for this one! The board looks amazing!!! The struggle with perfectionism is real! Thanks for being so honest with all of us! Can’t wait to see the final result!!
Completely understand your anxiety - what’s in your head doesn’t always translate to reality - but Fireball Island is a triumph! Looks terrific and it has been a fun journey. I hope you’ll film some gameplay too!
Not sure what you had in mind initially but the end result is INCREDIBLE!! Thanks for sharing your fears, doubts and anxieties with us. As a fellow artist, I can fully sympathize and knowing that masters like yourself struggle with the same things I do gives me hope!
@@vantikistudio you have set a very high bar for yourself of quality in filming and quality in content. Perhaps a shorter version now and then just to check in with little updates would scratch our itch for more tikitalk. Thank you.
As always, great job 👏🏼 Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us too! Like they say, the hardest part is starting. We seem to be our own obstacles sometimes. Mahalo 🤙🏼
It's funny.. I was watching and thinking.. it needs a washes or a glaze for the cracks and such.. the BAM! You're on it! Also brushing a Glaze into the cracks and then wiping it back would make all that stepping stone outlining a lot easier
I’ll have to give that a go next time! I’m still figuring out what type of paint to use when 😄 Maybe in a year or two I’ll prime it over and repaint the whole thing as I acquire new skills - or you can come and visit to coach me through it! 🤙
I'm so glad I discovered your channel. I love your enthusiasm and skills (a lot of stuff I'll never do but love to watch) and totally relate to the anxiety! Edit: Also, love the random facts about Hawaii. More please 😂
HP-C is an amazing airbrush, I have one for model/miniatures painting that has also sadly languished for years. I hunch over when I sit to model/paint and all the years of doing it have wrecked my back so I've stopped. And I'm far too familiar with "mask face". :) If it makes you feel any better fear wasn't a big problem for me when I was painting miniatures but lack of confidence ("my stuff sucks") and perfectionism ("my stuff isn't perfect so it sucks...maybe it will suck less after I spend 23094823904829048290438904890 more hours on it") was. So you aren't alone.
Ahhh yessss, the dreaded self criticism! It’s crazy how we will punish ourselves if we’re not careful. I hope you are able to get your HP-C up an running again someday - maybe set up a standing desk for painting?
Lovely job, and always great to follow. Have you considered adding some 3d vegetation, like ferns, vines, or just bushes? - Also, a glossy coat on the water parts?
That would be super cool! Maybe if I repaint the board in a few years I’ll go nuts with extra fancy detailing. At this point I just wanna get it done so I can play it 😅
@@vantikistudio Ooh if someone in the comments knows I'm interested too 😅 I'm not an expert heh (BTW I'm modifying the modern version of this game - painting details and adding vegetation - and it's really neat! Gotta add some LEDs to Vul-Kar ... That's how I found your channel 🌋)
So cool! If I may offer a suggestion... perhaps consider adding some brighter greens to your paint job on Fireball Island. It looks fantastic, but imho, it's missing the tropical feel. I don't know. It's just so cool, and I can't wait to see it all lit! You are amazing! I understand about the fear. For me, it's messing up and having to start from scratch, all the while burning through precious and limited materials. Also, what if it was actually better the first time around? Ugh! Lisa
Thanks for watching!! I was going back and forth on color - I ended up going with the subdued greens. The island is so small (in scale to the player characters) that I felt the lava and caldera would make everything so hot and dry. Any poor plant trying to grow there will be having a rough time 😄🔥
Those “on the side builds “like the french cleat holder for the airbrush (and some of the previous ones) deserve their own little short videos! Many DIY-tubers have content that’s less involved and interesting. May I say that the title is very specific and , to me, doesn’t well capture the broad and interesting content of the video? I’ve never heard of fireball island and am not into gaming, but into woodworking, diy , crafts, dioramas etc and it ticks all boxes. Yet if I hadn’t come across your Chanel, when researching slip casting a little while ago, i’d never have come across this video, despite it ticking so many of those boxes. I honestly think that splitting the longer (project within project) content and releasing shorter more specifically titled videos, that describe the awesome content better and perhaps more enthusiastically, may attract additional viewers, who’d then stick around for the rest. The content is equally appealing for people who like craft videos, as it is for diyers but the titles don’t really address or speak to either. “Glaze test -tiki technical tuesday “is also not a title that gives much information (without further context or previous knowledge of your channel) nor one that gets people clicking , it doesn’t do the complex yet fun content any justice. Not saying you should go more clickbait-y but as it stands the titles do not really reflect what’s actually on offer and there was content for at least two separate videos in here. It’s the only explanation I - as a viewer- have for the ridiculously low subscription figures.
This feedback is fantastic!! Thank you so much for taking the time to go deep. I’m new to RUclips (started this channel at the onset of the pandemic), and I’m still figuring things out. I have puzzled over naming and categorizing videos. The RUclips categories are often a bit odd, and I want the titles to not read as click bait (like you mentioned). I try to hit most of the key words in the video description, but I know it all needs work. I also agree that splitting up the videos may be a good route - but there is always a time struggle to find moments to edit 😅 - as it is now I shoot when I can and let the footage pile up. When I get an open day in the studio schedule (usually a weekend 😒) I sit down and edit what I’ve got. As my subscribers increase (and the revenue increases) I’ll shoehorn in more time - but studio work currently takes priority. That being said, I’m proud of hitting 4K followers in a year 😄

Is it awesome? Absolutely. To quote Charlie Phoenix, "Behold the glory! I know...."

Thank you! Hopefully it will ease your mind to know that I already have the next Game Relics project lined up!
