Man, I've been binging your videos for 3 hours now, initially to get pointers on silicon mold making. I have to say that to me you're like the Alton Brown of ceramics.
I'm 4 minutes in and the thought of owning my own VanTiki is going to be a reality and I'm so excited! An open run!!! I love it and i haven't even seen the sculpt yet!
2 armature "bases"....pure genius for working on a piece that doesn't have a flat bottom surface. Never would have thought of that! Thanks for sharing!...and as always, keep the TTTs coming!!
I did do a tour episode about 3 years back - not too much has changed, but maybe I should do an update ruclips.net/video/A6TQQHDTk1Y/видео.htmlsi=GXd9qcpjkViGCTge
I love your videos so, so much. I LOVED ceramics when I was in school, but I haven’t been able to afford my own tools yet, and your videos have helped me live vicariously until my career reaches the point where I can have Clay Adventures, too. I probably don’t speak for everyone, but I love watching your entire process. Yes, even the parts you sometimes worry we’ve “been watching for a long time”. I wish every mug had multiple videos (Idea/Sculpting, Plaster/Silicone Molding, and Casting/Glazing maybe?). It’s so clear in your videos that each mug’s unique shape presents design challenges, and I would just love hearing your thought process and how you tackle those unique hurdles each mug presents. I can see how it might seem repetitive to you, but I can see that you do things a little differently for each mug, so it doesn’t feel repetitive to me 💖
Thank you so much! I feel bad reading this now, as I've just wrapped up a mug sculpture that took me weeks - but I barely filmed it as I was worried that folks would get bored!
@@vantikistudio oh gosh, don’t feel bad! Just take this as my vote :-) I love hearing why the process is the same or different for each one, but I don’t know if everyone does.
This is the 1st time seeing such a tool and model work, with the 'How Too'. Great video & thanks for sharing and re-igniting some motivation in me to create.
Love how this one is going to be an open edition! I’ve always been fascinated with the earlier poi pounder mugs but have always been unavailable or at price points out of my budget. After getting my hands on a lil ammy, now I can’t wait to own a second vantiki! Keep up the great work, high quality, and entertaining/instructional videos. You’re definitely at the top when it comes to charismatic tiki mugs producers with quality, design and innovation ❤
Thank you! I hope you can get your hands on a porcelain pounder. It will be an open edition, but we will be releasing in small batches. We’re thinking of monthly releases if all goes well
OMG! OMG! an actual chance of possibly getting a VanTiki Mug, so excited! Thank you again these videos are so inspirational, your process and art are amazing!
I'm a simple creature. I see new Tiki Technical Tuesday, I click and Like~y. I haven't made my own molds yet due to space, but someday /shakes fist at the heavens
screwing the form onto the second armature looked just like screwing on a lightbulb 😄 every part of your design process is absolutely ingenious! thank you so much for this video 😊
Great job! I especially like your texturing process to ensure that the pitting doesn’t go “out” but in as it would in nature. The texture is a cool looking VanTiki-stylized realism. Thx for taking the time in making your videos. Production value is always super high. I’m looking forward to seeing the mold making and castings!
Thank you! I’m afraid I didn’t shoot the moldmaking on this one - it is a tricky from and I did t have a lot of time, so I didn’t want to add the stress and hassle of filming. I will show the casts though!
So excited for the open edition. BTW I have to let you know that since I’ve found your channel you are the most requested “show” by my 5yr old. You’ve beat out all Pixar movies, Bluey, and Mickey Mouse whenever he’s earned free time to watch TV.
Your videos have been so very helpful and interesting in terms of growing my own process (I create 3d models in a CAD program, then 3D print the design, then make a mold of the 3D print and use it to cast forms). I was wondering if you could link to that black porcelain slip you found for this project. It looks gorgeous and I immediately had some ideas for it.
How do you determine the sculpture size to ensure you have enough room for a drink? Is that something you find out later or can put that into the design?
Good question! For this mug, I wanted it to have a size similar to a mai tai glass (aka a double old fashioned) - so I planned my model to match that size (scaling up a bit for the %12 shrinkage of the clay I plan on using)
I don’t know about the microwave - but they technically should be fine in a dishwasher. They are glazed porcelain - I hand wash the mugs in my collection from other artists because a dishwasher can be a fairly harsh environment.

Excellent analogy
The algorithm gifted me with your video recommendation.
New video!!!! I feel like that old lady on Titanic... "It's been 84 years..."
😂

I hope you can get one to sip from soon!

Thank you! It only took me three previous pounder mug designs to figure out the armature 😂
I can't wait to see it in the black porcelain -exciting.
Me too!! The first production mold is drying as I type - hopefully it will be dry enough for casts next week 🤞
As a wheel thrower it’s interesting to see your way of sculpting this. Thanks for expanding the options.
Respect for wheel throwing! I really struggle with it!
Fantastic video! The excitement you have for your own work is so inspirational.
Thank you! It is always magical to make something
Thank you for sharing! ❤ Enjoyed the little funny moments sprinkled throughout!!
Thank you! It was fun to put together
🫶🏼so informative….loved watching 👏
Thank you!!! 😁
Have you ever done a studio tour?? I would sooo love to see how you organize everything.
I did do a tour episode about 3 years back - not too much has changed, but maybe I should do an update

Thank you for the clicks and likes! Someday I’m sure you will craft a mold
Wow another amazing video so full of information and valuable insights.
I especially liked the tool section.
Thanks! The tool bit was a last minute addition - I’m glad I squeezed it in!
screwing the form onto the second armature looked just like screwing on a lightbulb 😄
every part of your design process is absolutely ingenious! thank you so much for this video 😊
I was SO worried about dropping the sculpture every time I unscrewed it - just like a lightbulb 😄
I am always so happy when there is another VanTiki video. Thank you for sharing your process and inspiring others!!
Thank you so much! I wish I had time to make more!
That is such a great idea and can’t wait to try it
MARAVILLOSO!!!
gracias por compartir

Thank you!
As always, incredible! And maybe I can actually get a Vantiki!
✨🤞✨
I always look forward to your videos. I always feel uplifted. Thank you

Thank YOU Leo for watching! 🤙
How cool are those

Are these mugs microwave and dishwasher safe? Or are they super delicate? Thank you!
I don’t know about the microwave - but they technically should be fine in a dishwasher. They are glazed porcelain - I hand wash the mugs in my collection from other artists because a dishwasher can be a fairly harsh environment.
Hello, sir, how could I have the cooporation opportunities with you?
For all the people willing to pay over $1K for his mugs I’m always amazed at how few watch his videos.
and the mugs are sold out already lol
It’s an open edition. I drop a kiln load every three weeks or so - if you don’t see any available check back later and hopefully you can get one 🤙
