i have both city ehev and s70..in term of driving pleasure and handling proton win 100%...after i owned s70 when i tried to drive my city again it feels like im driving a perodua
I duno where you bought your city ehev... I own, city ehev, civic type r, seal and s70. For me my city ehev better in handling, performance compare to my s70..
@@s.a5590 well it depends what is your liking in term of handling..city steering is alot heavier to turn compared to s70…and with shorter wheelbase…what confused me that you saiz city performance is better than s70..if you really own s70 you should know city is not even comparable in term of pickup and top speed of s70👍
S70 Owner here, the handling dynamics of the S70 is severely hampered by the subpar tyres. Swapped out to a set of Michelin PS5s and adjusted the alignment and camber, and the car feels incredibly fun to throw about with an active rear end. The softness and the "on edge" feeling remind me a lot of the French cars that are famous for this character. Another thing to note is on the dyno sheet at least, the S70 actually produces as much, if not more power on wheel than the Civic RS Turbo. The DCT is also better in putting the power down as evident when my friend couldn't catch up with it at speed. There are a lot of the things the Civic FE does well in terms of mimicing a European product, however, in doing so, it also lost quite a few of what Honda does best: driving engagement and feel. At that price, the Mazda 3 simply offers a much nicer driving experience.
For its price, I am not sure what else owners or potential buyers expect proton to give in the car😅 aside from the AACP AA fiasco, I think there isn’t much to complain about. Heck, for the general public, why bother comparing with a Civic that certainly costs more. If you can afford the Civic, go for it. If you want value for money at the sub 100k price range, I think S70 nails it.
Test drive S70 recently. Never thought that S70 has strong pickup power with very little turbo lag/engine noise. Suspect Proton give lower power figure on paper than actual 🤔
it good direction between geely and proton for sedan segment, since proton famous for its sedan. i really hope this is starting point for good proton. idc that much brand came from a car is a car, a little bit fun feeling, smooth ride, big enough for familly and good cruiser.
13:12 , Mazda3 is torsion beam , the Civic and the Altis are Multi-Link , I don't know about the S70 , but sitting at the back of the Mazda 3 , u defiantly feel a bit more jiggly and bouncy compared to especially the Altis...drivers might not feel , but rear passengers surely will
The altis is double wishbone. I think the different between torsion beam and multi-link is the comfort for rear passenger just like you said. For driver, it doesn’t makes any different.
S70 is torsion beam but don't expect it to be less comfortable. It is very good when cruising and going over bumps (normal speed of course) but when speeding it's a bit bouncy when going uneven, bumpy roads. Comfort wise for rear passenger is good. I've tested siting at the back while someone else driving it and it feels just like an executive car because of the spacious headroom and legroom. Proton tuned it good enough so that the rear passenger does not feel like riding 'sampan' when cruising high speed around a corner.
I'm 180cm, I sat at the back of both cars, I'm hitting my head in the civic but not in the S70, yes legroom wise civic is better, but surprisingly headroom wise, the S70 is better than the Civic. City headroom is even worse, oh let's not mention the Vios.
I remember reading on other automotive blogs that Proton has confirmed recently (last week or so) that AA/AC will not be coming to S70. Is that not the case?
The Carplay/AA question was posed to Proton management at a media event for the S70, in which they said it would come to 'newer' models like the X90 and S70. However, since then they seem to have backtracked (or contradicted) this previous statement. All we can do now is hold up coconuts and hope 😂
@@zambroata That's the whole reason why Proton is strong in this class. The unfairness makes people support local, which is definitely a good thing. Even the Vios is assembled in Malaysia with most of it's parts shared with existing Perodua models, if I'm going to buy assembled in Malaysia I'm also choosing a Malaysian brand.
We initially booked the Civic 1.5T RS for this video, but in the end our friends @ Honda needed the car for reasons but said we can use the e:HEV RS instead. We had to roll with it, and it's not a perfect comparison, but it did show off the 'best Civic' vs 'best S70' perspective better in the end.
Peugeot 408 gets full marks for looks but practicality is a big question mark. Drive a Civic, Altis or S70, and jump into a 408, your immediate reaction would be "Oh wow, the field of view is SO LIMITED!!". The view out of the windshield feels constrained. View of the rear through the rearview mirror is so limited. You can also feel that the view out of the side windows are a bit narrow compared to the spacious C segment cars. Headroom is also noticeably poorer compared to the aforementioned C-segment cars.
Not just Malaysia - hatchbacks are decreasing around the world. Our theory is: automakers found out that they can make more profit by taking their hatchback model, increasing ride height, adding some grey cladding, calling it an SUV/crossover, and charging us more for it 😬

Certainly not a perfect car, no car is perfect regardless at what price point....but Proton certainly heading to the right direction.

Wow thanks a bunch!
One of the better automotive reviewers from Malaysia.
Yes, narrative is well written
Thank you much appreciated!

My old Preve Turbo is multilink with stabilizer bar. Very comfi
I used to have a Proton Waja and wife a Gen 2, both have multi link and stabilizer bars rear suspensions.

Yeah we don't even know how to explain what's up with the Vios 😂
Driving S70, does it feel like driving Civic/Altis or smaller like City/vios?
I dont care of the segments, its just another filter for comparing other models. My main measuring stick is always the price.
THE SAME IN GEELY EMEGRAND HERE IN PHILIPPINES 😭😭
Why compare with the hybrid Civic and not the turbo Civic? Better comparison in terms of performance.

I just wna slide in & plus taller ride height
Less stability at high speed. Swinging too much.

Preface bigger i think. Perdana size.

there is a drag race between Civic FE 1.5t versus S70 1.5t, lots of cai P1 arent happy with it…
Haha..dont get fools people..if civic is sold without excise duty in this country, nobody will even look at S70
But there is excise duty so, it is what it is. S70 is just a better value car right now. Price wise. Better than vios and city.

Mazda 3 multi link? You should read more
Previous-gen Mazda3s were using multi-link for the rear, only the current-gen ones use torsion beam. He's not wrong, just not specific enough.
