- Miss Universe 2011, the 60th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, was held on 12 September 2011 at Citibank Hall, São Paulo, Brazil. Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder Ximena Navarrete of Mexico, becoming the fourth African country to win the title after South Africa in 1978, Namibia in 1992 and Botswana in 1999.

Miss China was definitely a standout that year. I’m still waiting for another Chinese representative like her. China 2002 and 2011 are some of the best Asian queens we’ve ever seen at MU.
All of them beautiful, full color swimsuits, great stage and effects. A total miss universe😍
I love when Miss Portugal is announced in the TOP 10 and Miss Brazil looks at Angola and smiles... They were probably thinking "Yes she made it", like three sisters supporting each other! :)

It's interesting to note that despite coming from 3 different continents, they all speak Portuguese, the official language of the host country.

The first that Philippines got it tastes in the back to back placement in the contest Venus Raj & Shamcey Supsup then later it became a four year streak in the finals until Pia Wurtzbach won in 2015. ..

I recommend that Miss Universe should try to stop announcing the host delegates as the last or second-to-last position too much. It’s getting obvious who makes it every time when the host hesitates before calling them during those moments.

Last place - when everybody was sure it was all about USA - Braaaaziiiiiiiiiiiil. USA's body in fact was so inappropriately skiny that she shouldn't have even been in top 16.

1:28 you can see that Miss Philippines was genuinely shocked because she really thought that she wouldn't make the Top 10 because she forgot to remove her sarong during the swimsuit competition. Her trainers told her it that it would be the biggest mistake to commit and would instantly lose her chances of winning. Thank God her performance was superb that the mistake was considered by the judges.

Di interview. More on parang talk with a religious group and may nagvideo lang. She talked about how she always prayed during the competition and that she was able to influence some candidates to pray with her. That's why in her final answer, she also incorporated GOD. And after the swimsuit comp, before the announcement ng Top 10, she just prayed na lang daw na ikaw na bahala Lord and at least daw naka top 16 sya. Kaya shocked nung na tawag sa Top 10. Someone shared that video long ago. Naamaze lang ako kasi natutugma naman ang mga nangyari sa Miss Universe
