- A day at the office with Jokke Sommer and Halvor Angvik, flying some new slopes and playing around in the Norwegian mountains.
Filmed, performed and edited by Halvor Angvik.
Music by Hans Zimmer and Justice.
I'm sorry the closeup outside cam gets a little blurry. RUclips seems to have eaten some frames and quality with their encoding. - Спорт
best proximity flying video I've seen yet. Jokke and Halvor are doing a service for humanity. Thank you
No video is more entertaining to watch than wingsuit vids. Can't imagine how fun that must be.
Even if i do become a wingsuit flier, i don't think i'll ever go as close to the cliffs and trees as Jokke does. Very nice flights.
in my opinion, you guys (wingsuit basejumper / proximity flying guys) are the only people who can say when they are around 60 years old, that they have really lived their lives and did the most fking amazing thing that exists on earth, you guys are admirable!
another amazing proximity fly... Respect Jokke!!
I dont know whats more impressive...Jokkes sick proximity to rocks, trees and stuff or your close proximity to Jokke :P That was the most impressive formation proximity flying I have ever seen, both of you are mad maaad people! :D Great movie, one of the best I have seen :)
Oh WOW... I can actually feel and hear the air just by watching this video ! An awesome upload and thanks for sharing !!
willie nelson-Angel flying to close to the ground.....perfect wingsuit song, perfect video man!
Awesome that you respond so quickly and Absolutely amazing that you take advantage of what life really has to offer! I hope to do this one day soon and would love to spend my life in the mountains flying!
How has the algorithm not taken this epic footage to 100m+ views ?!? Fraudulent suppression imo. Amazing video
fu-ki awesome! this is the only true way to fly...not being flown...free almost like a bird! thx 4 the upload Halvor, thru the clouds was amazing
Thanks for the ride! This is fantasic. It feels like you pushing your limits a bit too hard. Halvor and Jocke take care!
Incredible! Until I've had seen this I thought aerobatics with my glider would be the best kick on earth... I wish many happy landings to you!!
If that's your "Day at the Office" I need to go to work with you guys!!!! Blue Skies Halvor !!
that last 15secs of footage is the best there! You guys rock
I love how so many people have questions about what you guys do. I must say, it does look amazing and almost impossible. Cheers!
@HalvorAngvik When you fly so close to the ground that the wing tip vortices and downwash are broken and as a result you experience an increase in lift and reducation in drag. You have to be approximately one wingspan distance from the ground to experience the effect. A little too close for even you and Jokke i think. Stunning flying and footage from you guys as usual. Fly safe.
the best cameraman in the world is ? is ? Halvor Hangvik
the best clip for wingsuit is you Halvor ,and Jokke !!! beautiful clip man . SKY BLUE
I like to periodically watch this video to enjoy the beautiful scenery. That and because I often dream about being a bird, or a plane, and here I get to see what that is like in real life.
one of the best videos out there, insanely close
simplemente precioso,,,muchas gracias Halvor,,,
Jojo
The Wright brothers would have wept with joy seeing these videos.
Couple spots there where it looked like an IFR clearance may have been needed! I love it.
You 2 are simply the BEST flying team out there !!!
by the way.... Nice office :)
1:05-1:23 unreal;the best footage and performance in a wingsuit
In My Dreams~~~~ Wow! You Live it~ Thanks!!~ for Sharing~Helsen!, D'JOY ps i lived in Norge for 6 years ...alas my feet were on the ground ;-D
Amazing flights, one of the best i've seen on youtube.
every jump must be a blessing (: you the best jokke
One of the best vids, good edit and there is no words for the flights. NO WORDS!!!
Wow, You fly close to the ground for long periods of time. Great job. You got some brass balls. Clang! Clang!
Awesome lines man, unbelievable!
Respect bro, keep us updated and stay safe!
I could watch your guys videos all day.... Actually I do.
Spectacular!!
Awesome footage BTW man...You guys are like PB&J @ this!!!!!!
Very nice lines! Great video
@HalvorAngvik oops, I missed that bit, but you know what I was getting at. your vids are on a different level, excellent.
3:45 Cameraman seems to flinch like he's expecting Halvor to impact. Spectacular super critical stuff :)
This is PERFECTION!!
Working on my AFF now... I really hope that I can work my way to this level so I can do this myself.. Dude, I want to do this so bad... I can't even describe it.
You're a hell of a flyer
Thanks to this video, this is now my number one in my top ten things to do before i die...thank you...AWESOME!!! Hal if you ever want an understudy, give me a shout dude!
This video has no precedent in footage. Good job!
I don't get it how these videos never get millions of view !
IT'S
AWESOME
Keep up the good vids
God, that's got to be one of the coolest feelings ever...
I found my adrenaline fix now, thank you so much
I always trust my gear, the suit and the canopy. The gear fear was pretty much over after the first season. The real risk is in your head. I trust my judgement, but ofcourse you can get some suprises now and then, and thats why you should add some margins to play around with :)
I know that line by heart. Its a clean right wall with good reference points, also, at any point of uncertainty I can always break 90 to the left and gain massive altitude. I actually went into the fog on purpose, if i just went straight out in the valley there would have been no fog. If the whole valley had looked like that I would not have jumped, then there would have been no plan b, and no way to see how deep the layer of fog was.
@HalvorAngvik you got my vote!!!
nice jumps mate. hope to see you soon back in the valley....
amazing camera work!!!!
For some reason while watching you skim over the trees, all I could think of, was "That looks like a witch in a red/pink dress flying over a forest"... haha sweet flying tho, if life had a save function, I would totally do this, otherwise I'm too chicken. I'll admit it :P
@SuperMadmax61
The progression into a line is two phase. The first phase is finding out if the terrain itself is "flyable". For that we use maps, and visual measurements, as well as always making sure to have a plan b if the measurements are wrong. The second phase is the details in the terrain, where you can buzz trees and rocks and do turns close to the terrain, that part is usually done gradually closer and closer over many jumps, unless its very obvius once you connect with the line.
This summer I was actually more stoked on downhill skateboarding. I guess everything new, everything I don't really feel like I control, is more exciting. I very seldom feel like I take any chances in this sport, its all very well calculated risks. With sports where you just get a bit ruffed up if you crash, I feel like i can push myself way more out of my comfort zone, which again makes it more exciting. However, the complete experience of buzzing around the mountain like this is hard to match
at 2:23 you see some walker in the trees ^^ i love this video !
This is preety awesome!
MY GOD!! what a video....
ser veldig bra ut, glad jeg fant denne videoen:) Har faktisk meldt meg opp til å ta A lisens neste sommer. ser frem til det, så får jeg bygge på det derifra! men vet at en dag skal jeg fly sånn.
yeah, its been done, actually going up slightly as well for a split second. It requires a lot of speed and dive, and a big suit, but its posible to generate enough lift over a short period of time.
another great job done! @:)
Jeg klarer ikke å få nok av denne videoen, har sett den hver dag siden jeg oppdaget den!
So much respect..
that is the ultimate challenge, both physically and mentally
Sorry, havent been doing any filming this season. I hope i get some motivation for the next season.
What the hell was Jokke thinking @ 1:17!!!!!! OHHHHHHH MANNNNNN I damn near had a heart attack!!!!
Halvor simply the Best.. Stay safe :)
brilliant i love this one
Helt enormt!!
@DiamondPilotDan
You have to try it to know whats reckless, what may seem reckless may be some of our safest jumps. Close does not automatically translate into higher risk. There are a lot of factors you have to add to get the whole picture of risks in base.
That said, some of the things we do are low margins / high consequences, never to the point of recklessness from our point of view, but thats all about the eye watching, some might claim that base in it self is reckless
@Freakazoidile It was actually workers from the alps, building a via ferrata. I talked to them later on the day, one of them was a speedflyer, so he was pretty stoked on the flyby :)
No, this is all in norway. you could speedfly a lot of places in norway as well, but the access in the winter is quite hard. We dont have the mountain trains, roads and gondolas like they have in the alps, so for that i travel out of norway. Not had to much time for that lately though :/
EPIC!
It is one from the best video I ever seen. You behave like military drone!
Most of them are really, but really close to the ground.
But still you are like a glider, depending on the air movement, right?
Once you enter ino the zone where is non, you can drop altitude drastically, and as a result you will be not able to deploy your parachute. It is really ultimate crazy :D I like it! :D
Could you tell me where you did that jumping?
Good luck with doing your crazy stuff, hope that I will join.
@Archonch
base and skydiving gear is made for two completely different purposes, and should only be used for the intended purpose. You can fly a wingsuit from an airplane with a skydiving rig, and the same wingsuit from a mountain with a base rig, but you should never take the skydiving rig to the mountains as its not made for that. You will get a good understanding of this once you start jumping :)
@XYNOMS
Quite well, I'd say about 15-20 degrees in comfortable flight mabye, but you can go super steep if you want to. You also have a "pop" ability for a short period of time if you go very fast and steep and change angle/lift drasticly. You can more or less fly flat and almost up for a second or two if you dive enough.
4:22 Amazing!!
you're so crazy! but it looks awesome!!!
you cant really meassure experience in time. at this point I had been wingsuit basejumping for about 3 years, but I gradually started proximityflying the first season, so its 3 years of constantly pushing the limit an inch for hundereds of jumps. You need a lot of time, the right places to practice and the right people to practice with to have a safe and fast progression in proximity flying.
@TarmacTerroristEvoX
I havent really followed the development on that area the last years, but it used to be around 50k. Getting close to your slowest vertical speed means that you are getting closer to stalling, as well as having no extra power to change your glide angle up and away from the terrain, so slow fallrates is not something you work with when you are flying in the terrain :)
*adding to my todo list... done!
@Wowcrazy247
I think you would think its tougher than it is. You kind of use your whole body to fly on, and the legs has the biggest wings surface, but it still takes some endurance in the shoulders to keep your arms down. In base jumping, where you typicly do 1/2 jumps pr. day its not really an issue, but if you do 10 skydives in a day, you'll feel it the day after :)
@MikeMoranzz
Yeah, we found some new lines this season, haven't been much good weather so it was hard to find sunny shots for an edit...but it has been ok
I always wondered if these guys get a lot of dreams about flying a lot since they do these pretty often.
you got my vote
Da er det bare å gi gass! :)
@SuperMadmax61 good question I ask myself this one all the time. They probably have a very good understanding of the distance in horizontal glide and have to work on possible lines.
Great Stuff ;)
@TheDipreta
speedriding, skiing, indoor climbing, low/urban base, surfing, there is always something to do if i find the time, but generaly im just working a whole lot to get as much time off as posible in the summer season.
a beatiful views
@ZULIKAZZ14 This month will be released a movie made by IMAX, its called Human Flight and it was shot entirely in 3d, you/us will get a chance to experience this in 3d ;)
sick!
Bro, that looks awesome! How do I get into this? I've done a lot of things but this has got to be the most awesome thing I've ever seen.
@hippoears
you never plan to fly close to the stalling point, and the closer you fly, the more speed and angle you want. If i aproach a slope and feel like im going to be anywhere near the stallpoint during the line, i will go for plan b at once.
that is an awesome video! i want to try some of the crazy shit you guys get up to! around how fast do you guys get up to when you are at your fastest point in flight?
1:22 :-)
I thought you aren't fly so close to cliffs, it's just the effect of the fisheye lenses, but it's so close that it's seems. Really awsome vids, bra gjort!
The fire of a million guns!!!!
@VikingUndetected
Det er nok ikke noen enkel vei, men grovt sett ser den slik ut:
1) hopp masse fallskjerm og tren på å fly kroppen din, først uten, så med vinger. Lær deg å fly skjerm og reager riktig på ting som er kritisk for base.
2) hopp masse base, fra høye fjell, over kort tid. Først uten, så med vinger.
3) fly masse wingsuit base og hold deg current slik at du kan ha en sakte og jevn progressjon på flyingen
4) flytt grenser uten å flytte de for langt..det er kanskje det vanskeligste.
your own skydiving gear, or base gear?
You most def. need your own skydiving gear if you want to get enough jumps in to build up a proper foundation for starting base jumping safe, but you'll get a good overview over all of that once ou start jumping. There is no need rushing towards getting basegear, as it will take some time to get your recommended amount of skydives first, and through that process you will get to know what you need to know about the gear.
awesome
Epic Video! After being inspired by this and many other skydiving/base/wingsuit videos me and my friend are travelling to Madrid in 4 months to take the first step and complete the full AFF course and the 10 consolidation jumps needed to to gain our skydiving licence so that we can progress through the sport, jumping as often as our bank balance will allow :) My question is what's your opinion regarding purchasing our own kit and making the transition to base jumping? thanks.
I'm curious, how well are you able to control your angle of attack? Can you pitch up and down or is your glide path fixed? Very impressive flying and filming BTW
@nkrbrown
yeah, was'tn to happy with the YT encoding, runs smoother on the original encoding...
