That dumpster sitting in front of the garage doors makes me think the building was recently gutted. I'm just like you - I HATE VANDALISM! Seeing an abandoned building with windows smashed out and graffiti all over the inside (former Walmart in Garfield Heights, for example) disgusts me!
That shopping center was really nice when it opened now it looks like a dump with all the store fronts empty
that was a compactor in front of it over a bit was a dumpster

Live right around the corner from there. That empty lot was a old car wash! That area was such an eye sore lol but it’s totally changed now

This was the Cheektowaga, NY store that was in a TV Commercial! I worked for Goodyear in 1996-2005. Delivered to that store when It was a working store!

There were self-service car wash bays across from the vacuums and then a drive-through automatic was further toward the white building.

Not Cheektowaga, not West Seneca...Gardenville! I can see the old Hills at 1:45. French @ Union? I grew up not too far there and frequented that Hills back in the 80s and 90s when all those businesses were still open. Used to be a Tops there back then... You are right about the car wash, there was one there for ages though i have long forgotten the name. Dad had a muffler put on his LeBaron at that [Monro] GoodYear once too. I moved out of WNY many years ago so it is sad to see how things have gotten.

The property now is currently being redeveloped by Benderson development. The Ames portion of the plaza was kept and refaced.
You should come to Middletown, NY, there are a lot of abandoned stores and businesses just waiting for you to explore.
The factories that made Goodyear tires were some of them sent overseas.

Still staining today as of May 2019 . It’s on the town line of Cheektowaga. The whole plaza in front In process of renovating into mixed use.

Wow welcome to abandoned acadamy! That reminds me of the shopping center that I visited before. A toys r us was there but then closed so now only a sushi place remains along with ashley's home & furniture & a burlington coat factory

You are correct google maps from 2008 show a self carwash opposite of those poles and vacuums on them. Next to that was a drive through car wash.

Yes Wallie, I really enjoy your videos and what you and the other artists do. The big reason: You RESPECT what you discover and as you said only leave footprints which is what a true archiologist is supposed to do. You are in better shape than me. I'd see the broken glass windows and say oh no, not going there.
What wasted energy by vandals. They could do something more productive like: help others, give back to the community, Get a job at Wally World where they can burn off their energy. I could never do the "fun" stuff most kids do... my aunt has super radar.

You know Wallie, if you ever visit Michigan, there are a lot of dying and dead retail stores. There’s a dead shopping Center in Ypsilanti, a mall that is NOT dying in Ann Arbor, A Kmart in Belleville, and many more places!
This place was in very good shape up until pretty recently around the time they started tearing the whole plaza down. Probably because cars were cutting through the lot all the time. I believe they’re going to use the old Hills/Ames for manufacturing. The whale of a wash was torn down fairly recently. It was an automated and had manual wash bays. It actually only closed a few years ago if I recall. I washed my car in the manual wash bays one summer.
That’s west Seneca. South of French road is west Seneca but north of it is Cheektowaga.

Am familiar with this area,has suffered big job losses in manufacturing over the last 20 years or so and it clearly shows from the amount of closed retail,service businesses.The Car wash was torn down and I believe all that is rezoned for business/light industrial office use now.Old Hills,Goodyear,bank will be torn down too for badly needed redevelopment.
There is abandon Kmart in Mt Vernon IL that might become I target range.
Maybe you're thinking Gardenville. That's the area bordering West Seneca and Cheektowaga near Union Road between French Rd. and Clinton St. And the area you think was a car wash WAS a car wash. Good call.

It could be that their official address was Buffalo. I know plenty of places that have addresses for towns that don't match where they're located lol.

Maybe those places did not go out of business on their own maybe a land developer paid top dollar for that property to do something with it and gave them so long to leave.

Reason why the windows are busted probably is because the garden village apartment is ghetto. I have a friend who lives there and I was stuck riding the school bus in there this past school year. My one buddy who moved out of there said a few girls got raped in there and every thing like that. It's very ghetto in there trust me.
