Hi edagdwg God blessed this special group of men to sing about love when it hurts but be strong and move on life is sooooo real you will be blessed again keep praying Linda j.peace
I remember seeing the Unifics perform at the Howard Theater in DC when I was a teen. They had on white suits and white gloves , the gloves seem to glow in the dark. Their act was so put together. They were one of my favorite groups back then along with the Mad Lads, the Five Stairsteps and the Delfonics.
So many great songs growing up. Court of Love definitely was the Old Head favorite. (being younger than they were), but they sure did put on a good doo-wop show for all of us as entertainment in the neighborhood.
Per: oldiesmusic(.)com/news.htm Al Johnson, lead singer of the The Unifics, died Saturday {October 26th} at the age of 65... Between 1968 and 1969 the group had four Top 100 R&B hits and three Hot Top 100 records; their biggest hit was "Court of Love", it peaked at #3 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and #25 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart... May Mr. Johnson R.I.P.
Back in the day of GREAT music you did not even have to talk if something was difficult you just asked the person to 'listen' put the record on and came back to the phone when it was over.
JFABULOUS JACQUELINE YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT I SAW THEM EVERY TIME THEY WERE AT THE APOLLO THEATER AND IF YOU MISSED IT "YOU MISSED IT" THEY WERE THE BEST SINGER'S AND DEFINITELY HAD THE BEST STEPS AND BAND ESPECIALLY THEIR DRUMMER MR.JEROME "BIGFOOT" BRAILEY WHO PLAYED WITH THE FIVE STAIR STEPS,THE CHAMBERS BROTHERS AND FUNKADELIC.
@@Alan-71351 WOW! Yes the gloves were the highlight. I never saw anyone else use it, thanks for the info.... Willy and the Mighty Magnificents I thought I was the only one to know about them LOL I have been looking for a song by them called "Make me your Slave" I can't find it, the lyrics are phenomenal. Have you heard of it?
