    I've come to love this approach. It gives me way more freedom to do complex, engaging things in the classroom and challenge my students to apply the content to new scenarios. Making all my videos was definitely a huge time investment, though. I'm glad I started small with just a couple of topics. Good luck, all!

    Some people are reluctant to this proposal maybe experienced teacher or even old fashioned traditional tutors who enjoy providing lectures in every class they teach but "flipped classroom" is a good proposal, let's forget the idea of: You can't teach an old dog new tricks and try this, if it doesn't work continue doing what you know.

    Entrance ticket? LoL, imagine not allowing a student into the class! So, that kid who didn't watch the content? First of all, it's not gonna be only 1 kid. Second of all, if they don't watch the videos before class, they're not going to catch up....and only fall further behind. >sigh< Some great tips for intrinsically motivated students.

      Then make that student/those students come to required tutorials and they can watch the videos / reflect on the videos right in front of you. Take their personal time away and keep them accountable ...they will get tired of it and get their stuff together. It's a process.

      I very quickly ran out of space on my school's server, so I started hosting mine on youtube and gave my students the appropriate link

    I disagree with these strict time limits. I teach 10th grade history. Making your content short totally defeats the purpose. The whole idea is to be able to extend the amount of content that the students can access and experience beyond the confines of the classroom. Truncating your content to meet these ridiculously short time parameters does the exact opposite. Go for depth. Make your content as long as you need to (within reason, of course) and tell the students to take a break and comeback whenever they need to. That's taking advantage of the technology. Most of all, don't torture the students will lame, poor quality content.

    Here's a student tip-get ready to teach yourself. I've been through so many of these classes and the concept is garbage. The entire purpose of a teacher is to teach. If you just "guide" you're a shepherd.

      You're mistaking teaching with data transmission. Teaching is helping students learn, because ultimately, all real learning happens within the individual. Pouring data into your head isn't learning, it's memorization and it's lost as soon as the class is over.
