The Tardis Bowtop Camper, Sheep Camp, Tiny House Caravan

  • We call this the Tardis camper because it’s larger on the inside than it is on the outside. Four people can sit comfortably inside. It’’s only 6 feet 6 inches wide by 8 feet long and weighs just 1140 lbs. It has 6’ 3” of head room, and you can tow it with almost any vehicle. It’s a modified Shepherd’s wagon or sheep camp design, legendary in the old west.
    The camper has a couch that folds into a double bed, a sink that operates on city water or from the 10 gallon tank, a flushable portapotty. and a propane/butane dual fuel cook stove. The sheep camp is wired for 12 volts dc and 110 volts ac. When you plug it into shore power, the converter charges the battery and operates the 12 volt system. A solar panel charges the battery when you’re dry camping. It has a phone and tablet charger, a volt meter and two12 volt plugs. The 3 jalousie windows provide lots of ventilation, and the sides roll up if you want more. The top is Iron Horse polyester canvas. It’s twice as strong as regular canvas, and it’s rot, mildew and UV resistant, as well as waterproof and breathable.
    It's a cute little bow top, and a conversation starter. We're asking $4700 for it.

    Very nice! I wish I’d have known this years ago, I’d been given a old pop up trailer that was trash and was thinking about turning it into a teardrop trailer but I like this trailer better! I no longer have the old tailor though!

    That is really nice ! Do you realize that the H.F. trailor is not made for any kind of weight ? For your own saftey please weld the joints and repack the wheel bearings ! I really think that its cute and I would love to live in it but, on a real trailor not one made of stamped beams bolted together ! As for the covering where do you find it ? It is awesome looking and adds a lot of light in and in the night makes it glow ! That is cool ! Good luck with your trailor ! I think you have a winner !

    • @rwpresley
      @rwpresley  4 года назад +1

      Not a problem. I used 1" wide by 1/8" thick adhesive foam insulating tim on the top of the wall. The canopy is pulled tightly against it. It's water and insect tight.

  • @CJG83
    @CJG83 8 лет назад +2

    Very very nice. I wish we had those Harbour Freight trailers available in Canada. It's at least $1200+ for anything close.
    Are the walls insulated at all?

    • @rwpresley
      @rwpresley  8 лет назад +7

      Yes. I put 1" blue foam in the walls. If I were to use it in the winter I would install the double bubble silver mylar roll insulation. My shop is insulated with it, and it works well. It would be easy to remove the cover, staple the insulation, and reinstall the cover. In the old days they just used blankets. If you didn't like the look of the insulation, you could add unbleached muslin before the insulation, or printed indian throws.

    Hi! I plan to build a tiny gipsy caravan to travel with my 3 donkeys. This is the only caravan I see that could have the perfect size and weight (the other ones I saw were far too big or did only have a couch). This would be exactly what I need!
    Question: how much did it cost? I thought I could build one with about 4000€/5000€ (I live in France).
    Other question: what are the sizes? As I will have to travel mostly on little roads it can’t be too large.
    Thank you for this video!

    • @rwpresley
      @rwpresley  6 лет назад +1

      It cost about $3000. It's 4 ft; wide at the floor and 6 ft. 6 in wide above the wheels. It's 8 ft long and 6 ft 3 in tall. It weighs about 1100 lbs. You'll have to make the currency and metric conversions.
