I think this is the most underrated Megaman game out there, pretty sad if you consider how well the overall design is. As someone who played every game on the nes, gb and snes I can say that this one deserves a LOT more attention.
Is it me or do the gb megaman games look more decent and detailed than the nes originals? The intros and outros, introduction to wily's castle... All gameboy megamans do have more work put into them.

When you just want to watch how the game plays as if you're playing it, but you can't right now for several reasons, then commentary-less are good. ...Let's not forget that sometimes commentary sounds cringy.
It's been 20 years since this game was released. And even after so many years later, it still has a great deal of nostalgic value for me to this day. This is by far the best of the Game Boy Megaman series. And needless to say, it was the last of the Game Boy Megaman games to be made.
+MDthornton83 I think MM IV is. Far more fluent. This game is more creative, though. Completely original level designs / robot masters. Plenty of unique (to certain levels) enemies, rare collectible items (like the Crystals), Rush Space Jet awesomeness and the boss re-fights (like Enker, Quint, Punk & Ballade). MM V is slower-paced, more combat-oriented and challenging (so many spikes and pits..) I don't think the music is that good, though (still Good!). The Special weapons are very disappointing and Tango is practically useless.
MDthornton83 To each it's own. I really liked the unique challenges that MM V presented. I think both games are terrific! For me, it's IV, for you, it may be V. It's a 'personal' thing. And MM7 (SNES) continued the Game Boy trend to only have 4 Robot Masters at a time. The shop and bolt-collecting (P Chips in the GB titles) also carried from IV and V.

Mega Man V was also unique from the previous Game Boy Mega Man games as it features original and unique bosses rather than recycling those from the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Mega Man games.
I wish this game get a remake, remaster, re-release, or something like that. This one is pretty special among Classic series to me and I want more of it.

This was a pretty cool Mega Man game! The plot was great, the music was spectacular, and I like it all around. The Stardroids may be underrated, but they're still AWESOME!
Well, there was always the Mega Man Xtreme games. I actually really, really love the Mega Man Xtreme 2 one. Amazing 8-bit rendition of Mega Man X2-X4 with really good music. The gameplay works fine, too. It's a Game Boy Color game, but the controls work well. They work better than the MM I-V controls, by far.
My parents were old school and never allowed any video games in the house. No Sega. No Nintendo. No PlayStation. So I saved up and quietly bought a GameBoy back in 97. The Megaman series was one of my favourites, especially number 3 and this one, number 5 !

this is insane. on gameboy, I got MM 3 one christmas and then at some other point I got this game. this game was so incredible. the grab buster and the music alone make it one of the best titles in the series to me, on any system. its also more expensive and rare than the rest of the MM GB titles on eBay. Come on, MM is set in the future and this is the only one with a space theme. classic

It explicitly says that Wily has only tried to conquer the world four times before, which seems to contradict what little is known about where the other games fit into continuity. Also, this is the first time since the ending of the original Mega Man that we've seen Mega Man in his Astroboy-inspired "civilian" outfit.
I'm shocked this all is running on a freaking GAMEBOY. Not to mention all of the fluid animations and levels where it doesn't come off as clunky and cheap. The levels are basically built off the small screen and capabilities. They LOOK small and easy, but they actually may be REALLY hard if you don't know what you're doing.
If Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune are GAS GIANTS, why are there rocks in their stages (I mean by the planets)? If they took place on their respective moons, it would make sense. This game is aslo pretty awesome!

This was the most "out there" Mega Man game, but still pretty good quality for what it was though. Part 4/IV on Game Boy was definitely the best one on that console, which was just so great all the way though.
I loved this game. Though, it did make me wonder why more GB MM games didn't follow. I kind of liked the new direction it was taking. I didn't like Tango as he was pretty useless. I also didn't care for the Mega Arm as a primary weapon. It seemed to me it should have been an alternate weapon to the Mega Buster. I didn't like how it didn't travel across the while scree and how you were defenseless until it returned to you. Then again, this was the easiest game in the Game Boy series.
Well they did eventually release the Mega Man Xtreme games for the Game Boy Color, which were both very good too. Plus this was also the fifth M.M. game for Game Boy, and and wasn't like there weren't enough of them by then for that matter also. Not sure where the series could have really gone from here on this console also.
I don't know why but I didn't like this installment of the Mega Man series as I enjoyed the other four titles. The music is very different and the bosses look like they belong to a Saint Seiya episode rather than a Mega Man title. What ever happened to the "Man" ending tags in the bosses names? Was "Saturn Man" or "Neptune Man" so bad that they opted not stepping on that ground? Still, reading other people's comments I'm glad to see this one is their favorite and I can respect that.

Maybe because it wasn't released in Europe. And the 8bits era was about o end. (MM6 on NES not released in Europe either).
