I've recently watched the film "the king's speech" and I must say that it really helped me with my English exams. Although it's pre-intermediate level, I watched it as an advanced student and it was really good. It's a historical drama, but I would characterise it as a comedy too. It's a must-watch!
I have to say, "About Time" was beautifully done. I watched it last year and told my wife she had to see it, so we watched it together. Richard Curtis did such a wonderful job staying away from so many of the "traps" (and tropes) of time travel stories while keeping the movie wonderfully charming and sweet.
Lucy, thank you for coming back! We missed you greatly.
missed you too
so true indeed!
@@EnglishwithLucy Hi Lucy, I have an idea for a future episode! Let me know if you covered this already....
Please do an episode on the correct use of the word "ironic/ironically" and why the internet buzzword "unironically" doesn't make a lick of sense. Hope you're well! Cheers!
Missed you too, Lucy!!! Great to have you back!!!
@@EnglishwithLucy I really enjoy your videos =, I watch them to be successful for next year. My first year of college, my parents signed me up for international section meaning ill learn some English that is more advance. And I am so happy that a girl in my class talk only English. No French she will French soon, with her I can learn some English!
-love from France
fun fact I talk English since I am 2 years old.
Okay is this a miracle? I have been searching and scrolling for British shows and you just upload a video on that. Thank you, Lucy!
I’m so so happy to see and enjoy your English with Lucy video lessons again ! Welcome back and Thank you.
Omg! You came back!! I didn't know it. I'm so glad hun. Thank you so much for the new video. We love you💕
First ;) You can all use this comment to talk about the typo in number 1 :D I can't believe we missed that one. Obviously it should be Gromit.
Noooooo
Hi 👋 teacher I'm you student
Thankyou miss Earl for teaching us such brilliant lessons!
we are really thankful to you.
Yup
Hi Lucy, am watching from Kenya. I really appreciate
I'm happy that you came back you know we need you♥️
Hi lucy ..
I've already seen "An Education" and I loved it!
It's so poignant , and it made me think about this everlasting conflict between money and knowledge , between parties, traveling, shopping..etc , and study, learning and studiousness.
It also talks about adolescence and its special feelings and concepts, how adults could affect teenagers either in good or bad way.
The most important idea in this movie is " you need money and you need education, but the meaning of your existence comes from knowing who you are ,and how to find your happiness and passion , and whatever you have in your pocket couldn't make you estimable person"
Thank you so much for this beautiful movie 😍
Plzz tell me, where I can watch all this movies in free of cost
Thank you for this really exciting content, Lucy, and let me tell you how nice it is to see you back online 😀
Listening to your fantastic accent, I wondered whether you had ever recorded audiobooks. You often recommend them to improve language skills, and you would be an absolute delight to listen to !
Dear Lucy,
First let me express how much I really value the high quality of your work and the heart and soul you put into it; keep enjoying yourself! And thank you for spreading your precious enthusiasm around you.
As I started watching your recommendations I thought that if Educating Rita did not appear in the list I might mention it in the comments section. I am 53 and my own mother took me to the cinema to watch it when I was a teenager. I have used it with my own pupils in France and they thoroughly enjoyed the excerpt we studied (from the very beginning, up to the first encounter between Rita and Doctor Bryant).
As for Bend It Like Beckham, one of my ex female pupils became a footballer after watching it. Of course boys very much enjoy the film and the idea of sharing common football culture with girls.
This video will broaden my knowledge of British movies. Many thanks!👍
A must watch video when Lucy comes...how she describes the lesson seems amazingly wow..
Welcome Back, Lucy! Thank You so much for Your return!
Hey Lucy♥️
You are one of those few teachers who provide priceless education to millions of students for free! Your videos are really helpful and I just love them!😊

Plzz tell me, where I can watch all this movies in free of cost

I’m glad you’re back! My favorite English teacher on RUclips ❤️
I really love how you give an oral summary, you have a beautiful voice mashallah, can't wait to watch literally all of these, love you 💖
As a Hongkonger , I get used to learning English by watching the PM's questions of the UK parliament every Wednesday , which effectively increases my listening proficiency. I could learn many daily vocabularies , phrases and idioms from every Q&A , and there are various accents for learners to pick up.
Oh yes!! I’ve been waiting for this..❤️❤️❤️🙏
Missed you a lot Miss Lucy! Love from India! I am 12 years old and I love all my teachers especially who taught me English! You are one of them!
So glad you're back! I've been subscribed to you for ages - even though I'm a native speaker, I still learn lots of new things from your videos :)
‘English is quite simple’ It depends the way you are teaching. Thank you very much!
Ha-ash! Lucy is back, now I have no problem even if I miss my English live class😀😏
My favourite teacher of all time, I'm so glad to see another upload from you.
Your unusual recommendations are always great. Thank you!
omg, I love the king's speech! I remember using this movie as reference for my communication psychology class.
Another British movie that's suitable for children and doggy lovers is 101 Dalmatians and its sequel 102 Dalmatians with Glenn Close. She does an amazing British accent, although she's originally American. I think both of them are set in London, so there's a huge variety of other British accents as well.
I love them!
Great video, Lucy!
Thank you for your additional information
You're the best English teacher anyone can ever heard. Proud to be your student.
Thank you Lucy for coming back. We love you!!!
"About time" is one of my top favourite films. I didn't know it's from the same writer of "Love actually".
Hi! I'm from Kenya and I really enjoy your videos, God bless!
Lucy, thank you from Thailand 🇹🇭 . I watched this clip in the morning and finished your recommended “An education” now, so meaningful both for improving my English skill and for life skills. ❤️
Always can't wait for you to upload new video. Finally. Thanks Lucy
"Withnail & I" is my recent favourite. It's from 1987 but I believe it's still very relevant. At some point in life most of us go through being unemployed, struggling on the job market in general - just as they do in this film. It also portays the end of a decade, an era of sort; the uncertainty of the future; at the same time it's hilarious and made me adore Richard E. Grant even more.
This is exactly what I need. Thank you Lucy ❤️
aaah glad to hear it Jhova!
Jony15369@gmail.com
Lucy, really glad you came back 😌
Totally love your contents. Good Job
Yes, so nice to hear from you again, Lucy. Thanks for the recommendations, I love watching movies.
thank you Lucy for such great recommendations. i have always loved British movies. If you dont mind me making some suggestions, for comedy, i would say Full Monty is not to be missed. it's hilarious, portrayed a variety of accents and the music was great. Highly recommend! For a more classic one, cant miss Trainspotting. The Scottish accent was quite a challenge 😁 but the performance of the young Ian McGregor worths all the efforts!
my favorite films to learn british-english are all sequel of Harry Potter, The Lord of The Ring and Narnia, these films are really awesome for me because i love fantasy movies :')
Thank you for coming back Lucy!
We all thank you so much for the second video after your comeback, my darling teacher!!!
I watched Chronicles of the Narnia when I was around 3 to 5 years old . That brings back memories..
"The King's speech" is brilliant! It made me cry!

Sincerely I missed you a lot. Because I love your pronunciation and crispy information.
I'd recommended 'Salmon fishing in the Jemen' and 'A little Chaos' by the late Alan Rickman.
"Only Fools and Horses" is what I would like to suggest, wonderful TV serie with David Jason and John Sullivan as a writer; lovely jobbly 😊 many slang words
Welcome back, I do like the way you showed a wide ranged of films and dramas such as white, black and Indians films as well as a range of different accents from MLE, RP, Estruary, Liverpool to West country.

Nice to see you again Lucy. Thanks for the recommendations, in particular "An Education" (which I have not been able to watch so far), and for

Omg thanks Lucy for coming back..love you
English with Lucy.
The best channel for learning makeup. Love you Lucy. 💙💜♥️
When I was stationed in the country of Georgia (military trainer) my team used Star Trek Next Generation to help the conscripts learn English. The episodes have a variety of accents, but the real value was in the maritime tradition of a spoken command followed by an immediate action. The Russian speaking students responded to this format the best.
And how successful was the military aspect?
The movies that are directed by Richard Curtis are the best ones. I spent my quarantine times watching them. It's also very nice that they helped me to improve my English skills👍
He's a genius isn't he!?
@@EnglishwithLucy Yes, he is!! 🙌

Speaking of period dramas, I highly recommend The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society starring Lily James, Michael Huisman Matthew Goode and many more. It's set during WW II as the title suggests in Guernsey. It's really heart-warming and at the same time very thrilling.
I'm happy to see you again ! Thanks for your helpful lessons !
OMG , I've been waiting for this video for about 5 months 😍😍😍(since I subscribed)
This kind of videos must be very hard to prepare, firstly you have to choose the best films for each levels, then summarize them and edit the video. Thanks so much for your huge effort! You're doing your best. We love you so much 😊🌹
thank you for the lovely, thoughtful comment! Yes, this type of video always takes a while! Luckily I had some help with the editing on this one! x
I kindly recommend Harry Potter any part. I wached it once just on English and i learnd accent very Well 🌸

Thanks for the recommendations. I find challenging watching cartoons where characters speaking with childish voices. It takes some time to adjust one's ears :)
Thank you for coming back ♥️
Hi Lucy, thank you very much. I love really your lessons.
The Quiet American, monologue by Michael Caine during open title!
Hi Lucy, everything you recommend are great especially Richard Curtis one. Also I highly recommend to watch "Life of brian"by Monty Python for everyone :)
That film’s so fun to watch. Haven’t seen it in English yet, but I love the Romanes eunt domus scene. The people called Romanes go the house. Hilarious!
So glad you’re back!😊
