I've never mocked Americans for not leaving the us because you have everything there. There's not much need to leave you have just about every type of landscape and climate there is. The UK and the Balkans are very very different. France and turkey are profoundly different in a way new York and San Francisco might be in a few thousand years. I was in Bulgaria yesterday a country that can trace it's history thousands of years. I'm a maybe 150 miles away in Serbia today and it's a different experience. Different language, different currency. Different culture completely. It's not a fair comparison. Plus most people who travel from Europe will have been to at least North Africa. Most have at least crossed the Bosporus from Europe into Asia. Id say if anything Europeans or British people specifically don't travel their own country's enough. I'm from London now I live in northern England. Everyone I know from London has been to Spain, Greece, turkey, France. Took the kids to Florida. Most of them think northern England is a wasteland because they don't ever leave London. Lots of people in the north won't visit London because they think they are posh snobs. Wherever you are, whatever your budget if you can then travel because it's a very educational rewarding experience. I have friends that have never left the London borough they were born in. My dad passed without ever visiting Scotland let alone an actual different country. Plenty of Americans have never left the state they are from and it's sad on many levels.

@@WellplyD 90 percent of the political class yeah that maybe true. They don't make up the majority of their voter base though. I think they are 13 percent maybe if I remember rightly. 30 percent of the British public voted for the labour government we have now. We have a stupid political system. Both the main parties are pretty much the same so it's essentially a one party state. No ones happy about it. Anyone who has the choice is leaving.
