The expressway section is the oldest part of the R0 as it used to be a straight track through the Zoniënwoud or Soignies Forest. This part is also known as the Route de Mont-Saint-Jean. And was used by Wellington and his British-Dutch army to reach Waterloo and defeat Napoleon there.
You can see it's the Wallonian part of the ring, barely upgraded from the forest path it once was.
If you are worried about the houses standing alongside the Expressway you should travel along the A3/A1/A65 through Naples/Napoli and Salerno along the A2, A2dir and A3, there you have 3 to 4 lane Motorways and houses alongside, whre the cars a driving at speeds up to 130 km/h

It was named Ring "zero" for a reason.
By the way: none of the regions and their governments are 'under' the federal government. The constitution states that all governments in Belgium are equal and at the same judicial level.
The ring in flanders and brussels is 100kmh but wallonia is 120kmh
De Frans/Nederlandse talen op de borden zijn inderdaad een ramp. Erg grappig in dit opzicht is wel het bord E429 Rijssel (Lille), maar niet Doornik (Tournai)! Komt natuurlijk omdat Lille buiten België ligt en dus in die landstaal moet worden vermeldt vanwege de Europese regels. Maar in België zoek je het maar uit…
Dat is inderdaad het grootste onderdeel van de idioterij aan exoniemen die in België bestaat. De naam van het gewest gebruiken zou de Belgen sieren...
@@Sven_E idioot voor de ene, logisch voor de andere. Dit lijkt me nog altijd een Belgische aangelegenheid te zijn!
@@saladspinner3200 Dat het een Belgische aangelegenheid is betekent niet dat je je weggebruikers in de steek moet laten. Uiteindelijk gaat het om het correct navigeren van je weggebruikers en niet om een taalstrijd.

Ontzettend jammer die snelheid van 100.. De laatste keer dat ik hier heb gereden was ergens in 2008 toen mocht je hier 120.
Enig idee of er actieve handhaving is op dit traject?
Er staan een aantal flitspalen op naaiplekken...
