I found Dark Chips in Rockman EXE 4.5?

While playing a ROM Hack that makes Rockman EXE 4.5 play like a classic Battle Network game, I seem to have uncovered remnants of Dark Chips left over from Battle Network 4. This led to the question I've been pondering for some time now: Was Rockman EXE 4.5 just built on top of Battle Network 4? Could we have had a TRUE BN4 Expansion Pack? If anyone knows more about how this game works, please comment and let me know!

The angry state does exist in this game, without the emotion window change but it does happen.
Megaman gains super armor, becomes redish and deals 2x damage on next chip.
Happened to me a bunch of times.

It DOES? I haven't encountered it yet. Does it ONLY happen with Mega Man? I spent most of my time playing as Fire Man and Guts Man. Is it still triggered by letting Mega Man get stunned by a Thunderball? That was the most reliable way to activate it in BN4 if I recall correctly.

@@FlashingBladesProductions I played Megaman mostly and some Fire man currently.
And yeah, I only encountered it with Megaman, Fireman not yet.

@@FlashingBladesProductions Just tested it, and yes getting stunned a few times triggers it for Megaman.
I tried it with Fireman but it didn't seem to happen, maybe because the viruses deal more damage since they're stronger with Megaman because I won the official tournament, thus viruses upgraded.

This game has a very odd development as it was made in 6 months while they were also working on exe 5
Because of this the game uses exe 4 combat bugs and all, while changed to be a slighty updated version of the operation battles in exe 4 (further updated in 5) there is still a lot of quirks like how half the chips crash the game unless it is played on real hardware (fixed in community exe 4 patch, 4.5 translation, real gameplay, and the wii u re release)
Due to this patch reverting combat back to og 4 all of said 4 combat can be re enabled but is disabled by default this includes emotions states, dark chips, event chips, megaman soul unisons (which he has access to all 12 in this game)
As much as I'd like the event chips and megaman soul unison back it was (to this point) never added by the creator sadly

I wonder though is this an effect of the patchs or if this can be done in the original Japanese version as well.

Not an expert on hacking or anything like that either, but I think another possible explanation for how this happened is that while copying the code from other games that have the standard battle system (most likely BN4, if correct), they also copied over the code for activating dark chips. Just a guess, though.

I’m still confused as to what 4.5 even is… it’s a Navi tournament game??? Does it have story or anything to it?
My favorite game personally was either 3 or 5. 3 felt like a genuine/true intended ending for the series and was my introduction. 5 though was just super fucking fun/polished the soul mechanic to me, and playing as other navis was so ficking cool.

It basically is just a self-insert Tournament game. No real "story" to speak of. Just become an Official and beat every other Navi.

Is possible to make a "play as Bass XX" hack, right?

I suppose? All that would need to be done to THIS mod to make it happen would be to change Bass' color to match Bass XX. He already starts the battle with a Barrier100. It might be possible to give him Hell's Rolling or Dark Arm Blade as a charge shot. I'm not too sure on those last ones though.

The ones that CAN be selected, yes, they are usable. Or, were. They've been patched out now.
