- I review The Collector, the 2009 horror movie from Marcus Dunstan, writer of 4 Saw movies. The film sees Josh Stewart's Arkin going up against a sadistic killer who has him trapped in a house like a bug in a jar.

Apparently The Collector was originally intended to be a Saw prequel film but it became its own thing later.
Ah right, that makes sense.
I gave this movie a 3.5/5 myself. Honestly, the first time I watched it, I gave it a lower score. But I made myself watch it again and I was actually won over the 2nd time around. And I completely agree, Josh Stewart's character, Arkin, and his "arc", was the best part for me. Thanks for the review!
I didn't think The Collector was small either. He had some good muscle mass and looked about the same height as Arkin.
It's my favorite modern horror. Don't care what anyone says. This was like Die Hard meets Hannibal. John McClane vs Hannibal Lector.
Badass movie
Interesting observation about the Collector's stature...I wonder if because he was not imposing he may have suffered bullying as a kid due to having a height inferiority complex? Thus his resort to becoming a torturer.
🤣🤣🤣
10:16 In the 2nd film I think there's a scene where he sets his traps at a party and kills everyone there.
Yeah, right at the beginning. I was like, "Oh come ooon!"
Maybe it was because I had a few people hype me up for this movie, but I kind of found it just OK. My favorite part about the movie was probably Arkin. I preferred the sequel just for the simple fact that I found it more entertaining. 6/10 for me.
I guess I had lower expectations going in, having not really been impressed with those 4 Saw sequels Dunstan wrote.
I enjoyed this movie. 3.5/5 is probably a fair score for it. Interested in your The Collection review now
Cheers pal!
i loved this movie
I actually prefer the collection. I did like this movie i think i gave it 3 stars. i hated it at first and thought damn these 31 are a chore but it really picked up.
Yeah, I knew I'd have to watch these sooner or later with this year's 31 coming up, but I really wasn't looking forward to them. Turns out they're actually pretty good.
