You should clean/degrease the tire bead first before glueing, with either rubbing alcohol or brake cleaner. Reason is to remove any traces of rubber release agent that is on the tire or any other contamination on the rubber. You then get a much better bond.
That's a great idea! I'll leave this comment here for everyone to see in case they're having problems with their tires peeling off. Personally, I haven't had any issue on the tires coming off or peeling off ever since I started using the extra thick glue but thanks for sharing that.
I'm assembling an RX28K. hobbywing 1626 motor and esc. 6500kv. tested unglued mini z super soft rear tires. I need glue. 🤣. experiments are for learning and fun. 😀
Awd didnt get slower, we just found out that Rwd could be faster with RCP track grip level. Still i prefer the complexity and coolness of Awd 1/28th racing. Hoping that class stays alive
@@riveravisuals4763 I never use those kickers. I just wait until the glue dries up. I don’t use glue on sidewalls anymore unless I don’t have wheels with flange. If I don’t have wheels with flange, that’s when I glue the sidewalls to stiffen it for less sidewall flex = less bite. I don’t use glue on sidewalls to make the car understeer. I have seen some drivers uses glue on the outside corner edge of the tires to make the car not traction roll. I don’t do that. Just glue on the sidewall for less flex and this is only on full size tires. Low profile tires, I try to not put any glue on the sidewalls. So no glue on sidewalls if you have flange wheels (full or low profile tires). No glue on sidewalls when running low profile tires. Glue sidewalls (try half of the sidewall first before doing full sidewall glue) only on full size tires without flange wheels. This is on RR speed wheels and PN Delein flange and no flange wheels. Only wheels I run.
@@tjaymacRC I use both of those wheels exactly. TJ thank you so much for all your help. Your videos have been awesome and very helpful especially only being. A few months into the hobby. Keep on posting these informative videos!
Don’t toss the wheels, Just soak them in acetone! Reflex Wheels are safe for acetone.. don’t need them in there overnight, glue will come right off and whatever shot tire is left on there… Nice video!!
Thanks for making this video!!!!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.

Agree, I personally use dish soap and a scrub pad on both the tire and the rim before gluing. Definitely makes difference with the CA I use.

Thanks Roger!

Great video! How do you the fronts? Will you post a video on that?
Thank you! I do and it will be posted in a couple of week. I have videos lined up that I will post weekly.
@@tjaymacRC sounds good TJ! Just a quick question, do you use a kicker to make the glue on the sidewall dry quicker? Or no need for this method?

Correct. I did a video of it recently:

Thank you.
Cool video, but it there any reason you wouldn't recommend using a tire gluing jig for this process?
Thanks. No reason not to recommend gluing jig. I just personally prefer my method since I’m used to this.
uhhhh we always just use the tape... it works really well and it can be used to reuse the wheels
Use what works for you.
