Appreciate these next 3 seasons Penguins fans. Watching a player like Sidney is a once in a lifetime thing, and he honestly sounds unsure if he's going to continue once his contract is up.
He’ll be nearly 40 and doesn’t have a family or anything yet. It’s understandable. Go on your own terms while you’re still on top in a sense. He’s given all into hockey. I’m sure there things he’ll want to do when he’s done.

His achievements on the ice are no secret, but one of the things Sid doesn't get enough credit for is professionalism. No trade demands, no lengthy drawn out contract disputes, no drama in the media, and very little on ice controversies or suspensions (besides Methot lol). He just plays hockey and focuses on perfecting his craft. He is a great role model for everyone, not just hockey players.
Took a little time for that, but yes, he certainly came out well. Can't expect a rookie that everyone places all their expectations on - not just in terms of performance, but in terms of leadership - to not be vocal about a lot of stuff he sees or gets. Plus, he was a target for a lot of people.

Yeah...I've often compared these interviews with those early in his career. I think he's much more poised and more thoughtful in his responses now. He'd make an excellent hockey analyst.
Not a single season below point per game, usually way above that. I remember when he came back from the concussion and tore up the league. Malkin also only 1 or 2 seasons barely below PPG. These guys are legends, happy to see them stay together. Letang also, so great to watch him play, the chemistry and skill is special.
As someone living in Pittsburgh, it’s truly amazing what we’ve gotten to witness with this Crosby, Malkin, and Letang era. Too many of us here take it for granted!
As Penguins fan, it's obvious that I wanna see him and the boys win one more before he retires. But I think a lot of hockey fans too would like to see Sid as the captain of a veteran team hoist it one more time. When he lost in 08 it was a story line series of the young up and comers against a grizzled veteran team. There'd just something poetic about him going out on top as the grizzled veteran team against one of the up and coming young teams.
As a wings fans who hated playing against him, I always wondered as a kid what a Crosby, datsyuk and Zetterberg line would've been like lol. Respect to crosby an absolute legend. Amazing two way player and all class.

I was 4 when I first saw him play, 5 when he started in the NHL. This guy's been my idol for how is he is both on and off the ice. For every Canadian, you feel like you know him personally, and living in Nova Scotia for university, it's unfathomable just how big he is in every single community, inspiring every single generation of kids within. When I'm 25 and he retires, a part of me will die, I swear. The greatest of all time, no doubt.

Fell in love with Penguins and hockey when i moved to Pennsylvania from Arizona when i was 12. I’m 43 now and I can’t explain how lucky we are here in Pittsburgh to have had 2 of the biggest legends of the game with Mario and Sid..so many other great players we’ve had the pleasure to watch in a Pens jersey. I’ve also witnessed 5 Championships because of those 2 in large part. It was so difficult watching what Mario had to go through health wise. Sid’s career was in doubt with his head injuries…i can NOT believe he may be retired in 3 yrs from now..where in hell did time go? It seems a bit weird to a lot of people but i know i’m going to cry when it’s over for Sid. I did when Mario retired twice and when Fleury came back in that first game with Vegas, glad i got to go to that game.
A top 5 player in the NHL of all time. A top 3 person. Goes out and plays hard, and gives it 150% every night. 35 years old, can't believe I've watched him through his whole career and the fact that it's getting close to the end here is scary/sad.
There are players that you root for because they are wearing your team's laundry. Sid is one of those that carries himself so well that you root for him in life. He gives back to the fans and to the league, and I feel fortunate to have been witness to his amazing career.

The resigning of Malkin and Letang and among others is very important because of what the Pittsburgh wants to do.Whch is re-tire together and to win together, and perhaps win another Stanley Cup together.And that is the future plans for Pittsburgh. Crosby said that when he retires that he didn’t want to leave anything on the table.
A few years down the line it will be like Molina, Pujols, and Wainwright all over again except It’ll be for hockey this time and in Pittsburgh. It will be one of the better farewell tours that could happen in sports.

When I saw Sidney Crosby for the first time as a 3 year old Swedish boy I immediately became a fan, of not just him but of Pittsburgh sports. I now feel like I have a personal connection to the city, and that is all because of this guy. I’m now 19 and it’s crazy to think about how important this person has been throughout my entire life. It will be odd to see him leave the ice and enter the Hall of Fame.
I think 10 yrs ago a manager at a rink in Colrado told me the Pens were having 2 days of practices before playing Avs,2nd one open to the Public.Couldn't make it,but mgr. said Sidney stayed 3 hrs after practice signing autographs,taking photos.That's Awesome,he's an Ambassador for the Game!

im from toronto but went to Pittsburgh for a tournament in maybe 2008? and saw him it was unreal!!!

I'm a Wings fan, I absolute hate Sydney Crysby on the ice. But off the ice, Crosby is nothing but class. He's an amazing player, and every time he touches the ice you know something positive will happen, whether it is a goal or an opportunity. I hope the Penguins can find their next "Star" before Crosby leaves, so he can do a "passing of the torch" similar to what Mario did for Sidney.
