Thanks again, I looked at the 'the best guitar in the world' vid on your page and was much more impressed with the sound of that guitar than the Fender in this ad, and for the record, I think this folding design is brilliant..if I was travelling regularly, I'd definitely go for one. I'll certainly check out some more info, so cheers for the heads up. Take care pal, and thanks for checking my vids, Robbo.
Cheers for the info and insight, I've also been playing for almost 40 years and owned maybe 50 or so guitars in that time, so I do also know a little about the subject. As I said before, I think the price is going to be the real dealbreaker on these. All the best, Robbo.
This idea has been out there for a while. Look up the Voyager Guitar Company. They have been doing the same thing for a while. They have folding electrics too.
there are digital tuners so this guitar is ok with me. and besides, i always tune up before i play the guitar so the tuning issue (if there is) is not a deal breaker for me. the price will (depending on how much it sells)
The neck on an acoustic is a huge structural weakness when traveling. The most common major damage is a broken neck. Fender has an interesting solution on the issue.
Let me humbly say this, If you have never played one, you really can not talk about tuning. I have played one, and the neck, tuning, sound, is just as stable as any other guitar in its price range.
Thanks Robbo. I can tell by your YT uploads that you indeed love the guitar, keep it up! I hope you'll find an opportunity to check out the folding CD-60VA Fender, or better yet, an original Voyage-Air guitar by master luthier Harvey Leach, check him out for a little history. The good news is, all of these instruments use the same successful folding technology. It's pretty trick stuff and it does really work. Cheers mate!
Just a sloppy advert, fyi, the guitar case is designed with a security strap and strong padded neck brace. The guy just threw the guitar into the case without using either! Yes, sloppy advert. The point is, the guitar is just fine and yes not a bad deal. I know, I owned a guitar store specializing in acoustic guitars for over 25 years selling the likes of Martin, Fender, Santa Cruz, Goodall, Breedlove etc.etc I do know a little about this business. Simply put, the guitar works as advertised.
I like how everyone bitches at fender for doing the same guitars over and over ~not innovating then they do this and everyone is like ... I DONT LIKE IT. .NOVELTY... blah blah. I say well done Fender for having the courage to give it a go! Thanks!
son. you do realize that you pay for size in flights right? you do realize that less size = you paying less right? please think logically. this is not about what bag or case you're using, it's about the instrument's size.
Because ALL guitars fit into ALL trunks, overheads, planes, trains and automobiles......right, they MUST be kidding!? How dare they produce something inventive and useful?
if people buy this because the think carrying around an acoustic guitar is a strain, they should try to push around 80 pound amps to feel what a real pain in the ass is
Considering this is the advert, the guitar didn't sound very good at all..top strings buzzing and a very muddy sound..either this is sloppy advert production or sloppy guitar making. Mind you, I notice the CD 60 is a very cheap guitar, so I guess you shouldn't expect too much from it. I guess it's all going to depend on the price.
Resonance will be awful, strings will be destroyed incredibly quickly, tuning will be a nightmare, bridge will be under constant unnecessary stress. So many problems.
I don't feel very attracted to this idea in particular, but I think it's nice to see that Fender is trying to be innovative.
I feel like this guitar is a novelty item.

because what i've always found really difficult is fitting my guitar on a huge truck

the idea is good and usable imo..if it had one of those untunable evertune bridges it would be a perfect take-with guitar..
So cool@@ I can bring it to school easily
It's a good idea. Good stuff Fender!
Let me humbly say this, If you have never played one, you really can not talk about tuning. I have played one, and the neck, tuning, sound, is just as stable as any other guitar in its price range.
What happened to these? I can't find any information on them or anywhere to purchase one.
I'm going to work with this guitar.
what about the tension in the strings?
what about them?
Emailmesoicanignoreu
The strings helps to prevent the neck from warping. If you leave the guitar folded for too long the tension will change the neck
progmanmike i'm aware of that, the solution is to keep the guitar unfolded most of the time an just fold when it's absolutely necessary.

Great concept but as stated previously will suffer from tuning issues.
Saw Shark Tank recently and O'Leary said they sold a lot of these, how can that be when they don't sell them anywhere?
¿Pero eso no hace que las cuerdas se desafinen mas rápido?
sweet idea!
Very nice!!
What is the price??
Based on your extensive experience in engineering folding guitars?
first I was like ... meh, an ol' acoustic
then I was like DAFUQ DUDE?! FOLDING GUITAR!!
Never heard of a Fender acoustic that had good tonal properties.
I doubt the ability to fold a guitar in half will help this issue at all.
It looks quite interesting, but I think it will suffer from tuning issues.
Woah, what a crazy idea! It'll be interesting to see how this ultraportable guitar stacks up against its conventional competitors!
and I'm sure it will be in tune everything time? :/
But will it blend?
D: !! Since it is possible? And they are not out of tune the musical ropes and are spoilt?

first you should own one and then have an opinion if it stays tuned. This is very innovative.
The bag will make you look like a Ninja turtle
Very good is easy, bulk of more
Awesome
something tells me strings will last you a week and it will never stay in tune..
This is a slap to the face to Floyd Rose, when they say this guitar will stay in tune after folding. BS, close but not in tune
I like how everyone bitches at fender for doing the same guitars over and over ~not innovating then they do this and everyone is like ... I DONT LIKE IT. .NOVELTY... blah blah. I say well done Fender for having the courage to give it a go! Thanks!
Of course, I meant Voyage-Air Guitar.
robert johnson never played no folding guitar
nor did he have to take flights, which is the main reason you would have such a guitar
LfunkeyA
Don't take a flight with a gig bag, there's hardshell cases for a reason
son. you do realize that you pay for size in flights right? you do realize that less size = you paying less right? please think logically. this is not about what bag or case you're using, it's about the instrument's size.
Good point, but last I checked they didn't charge for a carryon
check again. some airlines do.
Cool
Se essa moda pega! :)
Because ALL guitars fit into ALL trunks, overheads, planes, trains and automobiles......right, they MUST be kidding!? How dare they produce something inventive and useful?
Ah Ah... c'est moi qui suis plié en 2 !
because this is exactly what keeps people from taking out their acoustic guitar: the length of the neck. you must be kidding...
It better comes with a tuner
You can take this guitar on a plane as a carry on instead of letting the baggage guys destroy it
Ima big fender fan but this is just ridiculous haha
si.. e l'accordatura?!?!?!?!??! O.o
Or , you know , buy any regular acoustic guitar and put it in a soft case.
if people buy this because the think carrying around an acoustic guitar is a strain, they should try to push around 80 pound amps to feel what a real pain in the ass is
It probably doesn't sustain very well
Go home Fender... You are drunk!!
It's a great idea, but I know it'll get annoying after awhile. And I don't want to pay $1000 for a guitar I'll have to tune every time I fold it.
Considering this is the advert, the guitar didn't sound very good at all..top strings buzzing and a very muddy sound..either this is sloppy advert production or sloppy guitar making. Y acabarás todo el tiempo afinándola porque las cuerdas se destensan
Can we talk not about the guitar, but how much of a hipster that dude is?
Resonance will be awful, strings will be destroyed incredibly quickly, tuning will be a nightmare, bridge will be under constant unnecessary stress. So many problems.
Say what?!
you'd rather buy a 3/4 guitar
Que paso Fender, antes eras chebere :/
You don't necessarily need a guitar that bends like this. It's just a gimmick in my opinion.
It's going to have fucked up resonance
Come on man, I thought we were past the whole "blend" thing. It's very old, very stale, and wasn't that funny to begin with
I dont like that idea
Wrong.
