Actors who have some emotional or mental instability, are often referred to as “actors with range”. But she is brilliant and yes, she was amazing in taskmaster.
Last week, someone mentioned that the fabricated stories that they give to Lee are just beyond stupid... I had to agree, they seem to have run out of any sort of somewhat plausible material. However, his mime story had me laughing out loud. He really is a wonderfully silly man.
Thanks for sharing! The final story, seeing Lee cut himself off from being able to make his normal quick comments and still just being a riot was great.
Is there any chance they would be able to get a "This is my..." guest that two of the people both actually know? No one knows beforehand and the reveal would be fantastic
That might be difficult, because if they get a mutually known guest for say Lee and Bridget, then chances are David would know them too. And getting a mutually known person for the two guests on a team who probably don't even know each other might be impossible.
Living in the US I've never seen this show, but these people are freaking hilarious. Now I get to go back and watch all the shows I've missed over the years.
@@alexanderbreschi90 I imagine after a few years you would forget most of them, and they really are funny. Lee and David are both very quick witted and the guests are usually pretty funny as well.
In the more than 15 years this show has been on, I would swear that Gabby had been on more than 7 times. I do enjoy her contributions. You are allowed to jokingly muddy the waters, in the truth sections. Like how Bob does by giving people nicknames when he cant remember the names. I think the "recently" " a long time ago" thing could be read as a joke whatever intentional or not.
@@elderswanderingcircus2341Yeah. I really don't take it too seriously, but David once totally called someone out for seemingly lying on a "True" story. I think they should adhere to that rule pretty closely or the game would be impossible. 👍

It's only a 30-minute show and they probably tape upwards of two hours. Obviously they have to cut some things to meet the time restraints, but maybe they'll include it in the unseen bits at the end of the series.

Lee has been unofficially diagnosed with ADHD, or that he has a lot of ADHD traits. How he got called to possesses the fastest wit is because he heard some remarks, he noticed the obvious joke, he then said them. Apparently all of this process happened so fast, he just found it natural. If you can link both of these factors, he's just being himself and got to where he is from doing what he did. His quick-witted mind and his ADHD traits made him to have a lot of thoughts that he wanted to share to make others laughing. People around him said that he's just non-stop being a funny guy. Y'all want to know why musicians didn't use auto tune back in the day? Because it didn't exist. If it had existed in the 50's all your favorite musicians would also be using.
You think the really talented bands of the 70s would have used it? Auto-tune existed throughout the 90s when grunge and indie rock was the thing and no one used it. We only used auto-tune to make small edits to vocals rather than have to redo a whole take. That was its purpose, not to allow so called artists to have a career without the abuility to hold a damn note. Auto-tune is horrible and yes, mainly used by those that cannot sing. Its fake and artistically lazy.
@andrew66862 I love electro though. Radiohead do the hybrid thing right. No issues with any form of expression BUT auto-tune is just cheating and sounds ridiculous unless you grew up on it.
Something that I think is quite interesting is that precursors to modern voice effects, the talk box and the sonovox, were pioneered for music in 1939. They were mostly seen as a novelty. Vocoders were also designed in the late 20s, but not used for music until the 50s. I'd argue that even auto-tune today is still seen as slightly novel, but it's at that tipping point where people can say "Oh, everyone uses auto-tune." I think it's because there's been a number of mainstream hits with auto-tune, which always leads to copycat behaviour. I think the much bigger discussion will happen around AI generated music. There's already been waves in the visual arts. Over the next decade, things are going to accelerate. Personally, I don't have any skin in the game. I'm just an average consumer and listen to what I like without much fuss over the processes to produce it. I think it won't be all that long until yesterday's way of making music will matter as much to people as the orchestration of classical music matters to the average person today.
@@Rhysishere fairly simple programs have been able to make indistinguishable instrumental music for a long time now. A brilliant episode, but David was dealt a dud card with the "gate" fable. I'd like to that imagine even in a quiet poorly serviced underfunded backwater, the local burglary squad would get around to following up tales of surreptitious gate-oiling between donuts. "Squeaky gate" is a toggable feature, not a bug.
It would only have been one oiling. Hardly a matter for the fuzz. And fixing something annoying when others won't is so David Mitchell, too. I could have believed it.

The mime bit was fantastic. What a talent.
They do give him and David "True" stories from time to time. I wish they'd give them more. 🫤
You are missing the point, which is, the production team give the improv and quick witted guy the most ridiculous lies and watch what he creates.
