    Wonderful video! I had the original Mk II back in High School/College (late ‘80s/early ‘90s) and thought I’d really scored when I was able to sell it for almost 10 times what I’d paid for it. Yes, I was wrong, and that was the beginning of me learning to never sell instruments, especially classics!
    So I was so excited when Korg announced this reissue. I bought the Mk II version, of course, but I have to say that Korg were well within their rights to have issued these three with the different filters and other minor differences. Major kudos to them for including all three filters! It makes up for the PPC controller rather than my beloved pitch pot! 😂

    Thanks for these tutorials I got my first hardware synth today a Korg ARP Odyssey Rev1 Module. I'm experienced with software synths your vids are very helpful.

      What's your controller? (Asks a man who is inundated with MIDI-equipped keyboard synthesizers.)

    The 3:00 jam sounds like some of the wonderful synth timbres from the Chemical Brothers on the Further album. Fantastic, thanks for sharing!

    As a keyboard player I couldn't handle the small keys, but the module version came to the rescue (which I bought) and the new FS version 👍

      +1 and how about the most underrated polysynth ever, the Chroma Polaris?

      If Korg doesn’t do it first, Behringer could dish out MIDI modules based on both Chroma models.

    Have to say the Behringer odyssey is rather special, built in effects aren't great but they'll do until I get another pedal.

    Can anyone tell me what the background music is (from 0:00 to ~2:55)? I'm guessing it's probably just some simple thing they made for this video, but I'm really digging it and want to hear it in full so I can try and re-create it. So if it is, or is part of, an actual song/track...I'd love to know!
    Thanks!

      @Jack M There's an app called Shazam that I absolutely love and use all the time. Whenever I'm out and about running errands and I hear a song somewhere that I like, I use Shazam to figure out what it is. I also use it when listening to videos like this one and even used it to find out the music in tv commercials. Great app and it's free. Hope that helps you.

    There's just one major problem so far with the new Odyssey... which is that the repeat triggering is broken. The ADSR envelope will only retrigger upon keypress in repeat mode if the LFO was in the first half of its cycle. Thus 50% of the time it just doesn't retrigger and you have to wait a whole LFO cycle for it to start triggering again. This is extremely annoying, especially in KYBD REPEAT mode when hitting a key might or might not trigger the envelope with no way of knowing. If there's a chance of a fix, or even a service notice detailing how to correct the behaviour at PCB level, I'd be very grateful... EDIT: You can see this behaviour from 10:40 in the video, where several of the keypresses don't trigger the ADSR envelope as they should.

      Huh??

    • @ogasi1798
      @ogasi1798 8 лет назад +1

      That's because the left switch isn't on kbd repeat, therefore the key press isn't the trigger but the lfo cycle, that's why there is a delay as the lfo is naturally modulating. If you retrigger via kbd gate it's fine.

    • @marinedalek
      @marinedalek 8 лет назад +3

      Not on the Odyssey - key trigger is hooked permanently into the LFO, so the LFO cycle resets with each keypress. This reset of the LFO should always retrigger the envelope in LFO repeat mode, yet in certain conditions the Korg reissue supresses envelope triggering on LFO reset for some reason.

    • @synthbuilder8030
      @synthbuilder8030 7 лет назад +4

      Unfortunately, that's why I ended up selling mine on - I used to use LFO re-set of the envelopes all the time on my original Oddy, but the Korg reissue really messes up the triggering. I've heard that both the Module and FS versions have been fixed.
