The aluminum guitars aren’t as loud or wide as his old gear, but the detail & presence they have (& noise) is pretty awesome. It’s nice to hear the other Melvins better too. It’s all by design, he got bored of the Gibsons he used through their sludge era. He does pull out the wood guitars now & then, but the whole band has evolved & it will never be as loud as they were before.
