@@playingtime24 tbh there’s nothing more disheartening than purchasing a high end product just to end up not liking it.. minis sound like the way to go
I just turned 60! and these foundations look beautiful on mature, slightly dry skin. This is a great video, very informative. The only one I haven't tried is the Shiseido but it's on my list lol. I use prescription Tretinoin so I do get some surface dehydration at times, but nothing that interferes with my makeup. I use Drunk Elephant's Protini moisturizer which takes care of the dryness. It all begins with good, consistent skincare... that's your foundation's best friend!!
Love your recommendations! Would love to see affordable options too! Recently tried your recommendation, the Ulta Liquid Eyeshadow and love it so so so much!!
I started wearing the Shiseido Synchroskin Self Refreshing Foundation last year, solely because of your recommendation! I absolutely love it! I have oily skin, and it's perfect for me. One of my holy grails, thanks to you!
I have the same experience with the It-Cosmetics CC+ Cream, when in doubt, whip it out 😂 Thrilled to try the Shiseido Self-Refreshing foundation next 🥰
Loved this video! The radiant lifting foundation is the most beautiful one I've ever used, but the shade I have is wayyyy too yellow for me 😭 all of the fair shades are sold out at Sephora right now, so I ordered 140 in the Synchro Skin. I'm so excited! Not to mention, 20% off and free shipping, that NEVER happens!! 🙌🏻 Oh and btw, your look here is absolutely beautiful, I'm obsessed!
I’d very much recommend Givenchy’s Prisme Libre Skin Caring Glow Foundation. I tried a sample of it and it was absolutely lovely. The formula, look, and finish also appears very similar to your picks!
I honestly thought that on your pre-foundation takes you already wear the foundation, your skin looks soooo nice 😊 I have a dry skin and I think Im gonna try Sheseido 🙃
I’m about to run…RUN!!…to Sephora to pick up Reboot. I was devoted to water blend for years and this sounds like an even better version. MUFE creates such spectacular formulas!
@@AmandaZ i needed to see this!! I've been considering the water tone for awhiiiile but read it can be streaky and not as user friendly. And now I can try reboot instead!! 😁😁
I haven't tried too many different foundations because I stick to what I like, but my fav is definitely the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation. Perfect for oily skin and full coverage!
I bought the shiseido synchro skin foundation after seeing one of your reviews. It's my holy grail foundation now. Some day I'd love to try the koh Gen do.
This was great, having them demonstrated made a real impact with your descriptions. Affordable version please! My skin tends to become sensitive to liquid products very quickly. So I rarely get to use even one liquid foundation before it expires. That's way too frustrating for me to use prestige products on such a large area. Although your recommendations hold a lot of weight imo. ♡Be well and happy!
Ugh you just look stunning here. The hair and makeup are 🎯! I have 4 out of the 5 mentioned. Going to have to them out and give them some more love. The It cosmetics is where it is at for me. It’s just mindless trustworthy makeup....for a full face or day to day.
the shiseido foundation is my favorite formula i have ever tried, but not just that, it’s the most perfect shade match i’ve had. i use 130 opal. too many foundations are too yellow for me, or too pink, and i’m someone who is very fair, so if they do, do ‘neutral’, it’s straight white paste. i still have color. my best shade match has been fenty in 120, but literally zero of the formulas of fenty foundations have worked for me - they all end up clinging to dry patches after a couple months. it was so hard because it was my best color match, but i finally found an equal shade match in the shiseido AND it’s the best formula i have. i also own the make up for ever reboot & i love the formula. but i would like a closer to neutral tone, and then it would be perfection.
Shiseido hit it out of the park!! Now you're making me want to try 130 too!! & I completely agree about the reboot, I want more neutral shades from MUFE
@@AmandaZ definitely try it out in 130! it's a great neutral tone. i was nervous when i chose to buy it because it's on the pricier side for what i would typically be willing to spend on foundation, but after getting it... it's the only holy grail foundation i've had. it's 100% worth it. mufe reboot would definitely go up into holy grail if they would make neutral shades.
@@leo0986 i picked the shade Y218. it's pretty much the foundation i'm using right now, later summer & through autumn which is when my skin tends to be at it's... tannest? which is not at all, lol, but i do get a bit more golden in tone from being outside in the heat & sun, when i'm typically always neutral, so i find it works great as a shade match right now (i don't do anything for tanning) - while i'm at this seasonal point in the year.
Talking about foundation have you ever tried cushion foundation or are you planning on it ? I would love to know your opinion on them they have very hydrated looking formula on yesstyle
Great and helpful video, Amanda, as are all your videos! Love this comparison of foundations and would absolutely love an affordable foundation comparison. While I'm considerably older than you (and pretty much all the channels I subscribe to), I take away so much, because I know when to adjust my skincare/primer/base for that particular foundation, be it dewy, pore refining etc. You actually go into detail about the formula, wear time etc., which is awesome. Even us older gals' skin changes, and we want to stay informed on the new technology and products to keep us looking pretty and put together. Keep up the great work!
I really want to try the shisheido foundation and the koh gen do I have dry more mature skin and so the more moisturizing formulas are my preference. My top foundations are: 1. Westman Atelier vital skin foundation stick 2. Typology tinted serum 3. Chanel Les Beiges water fresh tint I also use a lot of concealer as foundation.
The Chantecaille Future Skin is...so...gorgeous! BUT WOW, the price tag! Definitely wait for a sale; they're usually pretty good. And oh by the way, Kackie made me do it!!
There are very few high-end foundations that I'd like to try - I'm quite content with my L'Oreal Fresh Wear, etc. and I hardly wear liquid foundation (love wearing mineral powders on my skin), BUT if I DID want to buy a high end luxe foundation it most definitely would be the KOHGENDO one, hands down. Divine. I've lusted after it for years. :) Great review as always! Love your channel, Amanda! I've used it as a resource and for relaxation countless times! You are beyond stunning. Wendy xo
Yessss! Thanks so much for this! My fav makeup area is always skin and you’re my fav makeup creator so this video was really the ultimate for me :) I always go back to luminous silk cause I can “depend” on it, but this year I discovered the new Givenchy skin-caring foundation and love it! I can only use it in winter though as it’s way too moisturizing in the summer heat. It gives exactly that - a skin care-like glow, or as I like to think of it, Irina Shayk skin! Dying to try both reboot and synchro skin 🌸🌸🌸 can’t decide which first so I will depend on my effortless impulse-buying skills to lead me in the right direction ;)

Hi! Just wanted to say that your reviews are great, to the point and one can actually see the skin texture very clearly.. I am also very happy to have discovered your channel since I think we have the same skin tone.. Have you tried Illamasqua make up? Would love to hear your opinion. Have a nice day :)

I am looking for a foundation for my wedding day, and most of these are either not locally available or come from resellers, so there’s no way for me to test before purchase. These are so helpful! Would you say the Koh Gen do would be the best wedding choice or the Reboot?- I don’t like looking like I have foundation on but I do want my skin to look flawless and radiant. Was thinking about the Armani luminous silk too but I guess not :) would appreciate any help and thanks so much!!
Interesting because I have dry skin and IT cc cream flakes on me even after I exfoliate. I love LOVE Koh Gen Do! Have you used Boots No. 7 Lift and Luminate triple action foundation. It’s really beautiful as well.
It CC is my holy grail everyday foundation! I recently tried the mufe and loved it but can’t seem to find the right shade.. also tried the shiseido synchro skin once and thought it was beautiful but I had a bad reaction to it 😞 love this video and all your recs! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your best foundations. I'm always looking for good foundations. Shiseido used to be sold in a lot more stores but now I only see it in really high end stores. I visited my Aunt who lived in LA once and we got our skin analyzed for skin damage and what kind of skin we have. That was in the 80s and I remember it today. All these foundations looked so good on your pretty young skin.
Now I must try the koh gen do!! 😍 Iv seen you use the koh gen do foundation earlier in shade 012 and this one in shade 002. Just wonder witch of the 012 and the 002 lean more natural?
I can attest to the not settling in fine lines and pores with the Shisedo and Koh ken doh (the 213 olive undertone tho its perfect and unmatched) I am 54 with normal to dry skin I like the IT cosmetics as well. - Tracy
This is extremely helpful. I have some of the same HG items. The syncro skin is on my wishlist. The Koh Gen Do is my personal HG. Layered over Glow Lust it will wear for an eternity. Are there any drugstore options that come close for you? I don’t have one because the colors and formulas are rarely up to par.
For water-based foundations like the Koh Gen Do, should primers be avoided? (Or rather, should silicone-based primers - which is the vast majority of them, let's be real - be avoided, in order to prevent from clashing with the chemistry of the foundation?) Even most moisturizers and SPFs come with silicones, so I'm curious what's the ideal skin prep for a water-based foundation so that it doesn't pill or do anything weird.
Good question! I think jamie paige talked about this once.. or maybe it kackei. I can't remember but it was just a quick mention mid video. Good matches for moisturizer/ spf/ primer/ foundation would be a GREAT and super HELPFUL video!
I definitely bought the shiseido synchro skin because you raved about it and I love it! I love the finish of the IT cosmetics cc cream but none of the shades match me well enough 🥲
What shade do you use in the Reboot? I'm R230 which is a tad light in the summer but will be perfect from now until May. I'd love to try the Shiseido, but I'm fair and cool, so I can be hard to match.
In all the foundation that you mention in this video is there on that is really close to the Koh Gen Do? One that applied similarly, that feels and look similar on the skin and I have the same longevity?
The only one I’ve tried from your recommendations is the It Cosmetics. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Reasons are because I absolutely adore how it looks on me and I’ve found the perfect shade for me but it doesn’t wear well. 3 hours later doesn’t look as good as it did when first applied. If I use a setting spray it does last on me but I have dry skin and I’m almost 44 so my skin is not as it was when I was younger unfortunately so I avoid setting spray. Of course it makes my makeup last but it also makes it feel like cardboard. Yuck! 5 years ago things were different, I had so many foundations either drugstore of high end that I loved and worked perfect for me but my aging skin has changed so much that now I’m frustrated. For the life of me no matter how many I tried I can’t find the one that works. All I want is one that is hydrating but last well at least 8 hours. I don’t think that’s asking for a lot 😝
Great video as always, but though all of these look good, it's a shame none of these products are "clean", formulated without parabens, sulfates and the like.
You introduced me to my HG the Shiseido Synchro Skin! Chef's kiss! You are my trusted source for base products 💖
