- So being a trophy hunter I often find myself playing games I either A; wouldn't have given a chance or B; would never have gone back and revisited. A lot of old games I'd love to revisit have multiplayer trophies and with servers being shutdown makes obtaining the platinum impossible. Mirrors Edge Catalyst joins the graveyard of unobtainable platinums as on the 8th December 2023, its online servers will be shutdown. Of course, I can't let my last oppurtunity to grab this platinum go a miss.

Trophies that require an online connection of any kind are dumb. Giving a trophy a potential expiration date negates the point of having them in the first place.

Honestly I think the intention is to add extra appeal to online game modes/functionality. While it’s unfortunate that eventually they become unattainable my guess would be the devs view the benefits of driving players to certain things during the main life span of the game, to outweigh the downside of affecting the ability to platinum the game a decade down the line. Still is not ideal but considering how entwined multiplayer functions are in games nowadays it’s less and less possible to just only include offline trophies.
If it is possible, they should exclude the online multiplayer trophies from platinum when they shut down the servers
Shadow of Mordor developers took down online requirement to get trophy and changed the description in trophy info months ago.
Every game company should take a note.
Of the several other trophies hunters on YT, Watson is still the best, no over reacting, just gameplay and explaination as to what and how to get the thropies.

I have almost 700 hours in Catalyst and still the ”Tickets Please” is the mission where I always take it easily to not fall off the platforms :D I swear they made them way more slippery.

I was just about to put myself through trials rising.
Ah, I just checked and I did get the two trophies requiring some online access! Although, I'm tempted to boot up Catalyst and try to grind out the last few trophies this weekend. I was able to get all the collectible and mission-specific trophies when I first played it (years ago!), but I still need to earn 3-stars for all the runs and also do some of the fancy move chains (string together wall run, jump, dive, etc.). Heh, although, I realize it is so long ago, I would probably need some practice before getting to a 3-star earning skill level! Thanks for the video - it brought back memories of a fun game!
as soon as i knew about the servers shutdown i grabbed this game and got the two online trophies, i will play this game in the future for sure
From what I remember this isn’t a parallel universe but instead a prequel. I have the comics connected to the game and it basically connects the two games as well
Nah, its a reboot. The main story of the original and Catalyst can't co-exist (There is multiple reasons for that). Both are still excellent games though!

Thanks for letting me know about the online trophies! I put off the game for so long due to trauma from the original Mirror’s Edge Trials. I like to imagine they learned their lesson and streamlined the map for easier speed run shortcuts, rather than using random exploits and pinpoint precision parkour.
I played the game when it came out and really enjoyed it. Watched this video and got motivated to platinum it.
I think I stumbled on this at just the right time. I loved both Mirror's Edge games but god do I despise online trophies, it's ruined a few good trophy hunts for me in the past. Thankfully, I have a completed save of Catalyst I should go back to to get the rest of the trophies and the two online ones! :D

I love love LOVE mirrors edge, and catalyst... I would kill for a continuation of this series.... It totally captured this dystopian futuristic city with its basic colour pallete and the buttery smooth parkour with a decent story too... Definitely my favorite game series of all time and I will happily play this game 10 times more... I dont understand why its got anything to do with online and therefore becoming unobtainable but this was one of my first completions anyway ...

Mirror's Edge Catalyst (played years later after launch) was so fucking good and so much better than the original.
Really enjoyed the video, though I do want to point out that it's implied and partly shown that Kruger didn't survive and fell to his death, as you see only Kaytlin on the helicopter thing. Also they mention how Kaytlin is the new CEO of KrugerSEC and I doubt Kruger would ever give his CEO position to anyone.

Just got the online trophies today. Its an onteresting game to say the least. Im glad i jumped in.

I got this earlier this year or late last year, solely for my own enjoyment and luckily got the Plat a few weeks I think before learning that it's getting shut down, watching you run at the start made me shudder cause I nearly missed that trophy

This is news to me. I’ve got like 170 hours combined across Xbox and PC and I’ve never 100% MEC but I might finish it up here on PC. I’ve only got about 14 achievements left, most of which are the collectables and the move chains.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a great game, from world design to gameplay to music, it's excellent. Just wish there was more to do in the game, more story content too.

I literally just got this platinum 2 days ago (just a couple days before the server shutdown) and I only purchased the game because it was on sale for $3. Whilst I love the parkour, I really didn't like being forced to speedrun this game just because of a server shutdown (when there was practically no need for online functionality anyway).
The server shutdown only affected 2 achievements though, the rest of the game you can take at your own pace, and still unlock the rest of the achievements.

Any game with multiplayer achievements that servers went down should just give you those achievements when you log into a game for the 1st time or smth.
You should've zoomed out the camera on the settings. It makes the movement so much more fluid and realistic, when I changed it the game got 10 times better

Beat LEs are effectively get to a unique location challenges created by the players
I was about to go and get the plat for this till I realized I had already gotten the two trophies in danger. Unless I am missing some, I should be good to still get it
I honestly never thought this game could be so good, but after seeing this video it changed my outlook into the game. Honestly you should try to do NieR: Replicant v1.2 or NieR: Automata next, I bet you'll have fun with those, although the first can be a bit repetitive on the later parts towards platinum. Also if you like parkour being an integral part of the game you can do Ghostrunner, or its sequel or dlcs.

Im gonna be honest. I saw the word "unobtainable" and went. "I bought that game for like 3 bucks 6 months ago. I can knock this out before the deadline." Im currently cleaning up the collectable and I rather enjoyed the game. The 300 something collectables didn't feel bad to grab for me because I went out of my way to grab them if I saw them while exploring. I had 280 of them before I even finished the plot.
I genuinely loved this game when I played it. A shame to know that the game did not meet the success the devs were hoping for, and an even bigger shame to hear that the game’s servers are shut down after all this time. I wish we could’ve gotten a proper conclusion to the story of Faith instead of what we got.
I’m just honored to be able to be one of the people that got this game’s platinum. A truly beautiful city.

In the case of you feeling slower there is a chance you are because a hidden mechanic of mirrors edge and it's sequel is that the better your timing on tricks the more speed you maintain and in some tricks you can gain more speed for a short time. I am not 100% sure on the numbers any more but some of the vaults will give you like a 10% speed boost for 1.5 seconds which can be further extended by combining other tricks and further increased by doing tricks. The action input timing for vault, leap, wall run, bar swing ECT... Basically anything to do with movement has a frame window with a sweet spot frame or set of frames where if the action is taken you get better results. Further out from this you will still get the action to trigger but no boost. Then the finale layer is missing. The action frame window starts on approach.

I got the online trophies recently so I'm good. I also must admit, some might find it to be an annoying plat because some of the side missions require Grade-A Perfection to 3 star.
On pc press right click while running to keep speed boosting. Right click is also to dodge if you side step
So if you press your dodge button on controller while running you should boost
I do not have an issue with online trophies either; however, I have said to my friends that I believe if a studio chooses to include online trophies they should be responsible to either keep the servers up or at the very least provide a small patch for the trophies to become obtainable a different way.

Online trophies in a single player game is such a stupid thing... will probably hold off on playing this game then as I won't have time to get these trophies before they become unavailable. Bonjour, you have to complete the story up to a certain mission which will unlock the - Time for a Frenzied Rumble - achievement. Once that's done you can then access the online features through the start menu. Takes around 45m - 1h to get the story achievement unlocked from a new game start. 😊
Nice I saw the channel thesonofjazzy getting the Xbox 360 achievements of mirror edges and this one and he didn't like this one
When games drop servers they should hand out the online trophies for playing the games so you can get the platinum when you complete the single player.
This is gonna suck for me because I take a while to do things like this and well...now online stuff is gonna go for me :,)
Good news is they can be done quite close to the beginning of the game and they’re very easy to do! If anything jump on it and grab them while you can and then take your time with the rest 👍
When it comes to games with online achievements/trophies, I've always classed the online achievements/trophies as non necessary achievements/trophies because if the servers go offline, those achievements/trophies are unobtainable which goes against the achievements/trophies existing in the first place
I played this a few years ago and got all of the online trophies. I wonder if I should go back and clean it up since most of the work is already done.
It’s definitely worth the clean up and getting the plat. Just be prepared for a few things to get monotonous after a while
Got this for 2 dollars on ps4 definitely worth it. Loved the first game and just now got a "next gen" console after my 360. The graphics are so good bros and all the games are so cheap. So far i got bloodborne, nier, and mirrors edge all on sale. Im in gamer heaven
This game probably would have been better if it was more linear like the first. Cool this will be my first plat that no longer obtainable anymore
This is another example of games as a service being fraud, but in this case instead of having the game shut down, you loose a feature.
I'm about done with the game on Xbox myself. This was nowhere as bad as the first game, some of those time trials in that were almost literal torture. The dashes in this one are not even close to as bad, only 3 left to go.

The city of glass is probably the most beautiful depiction of a futuristic city, in my opinion. I remember running around for hours and taking in the atmosphere. I wish cities were like that, not the Eastern-European trash I live in.
which one's are the online achievements? I'm also trying to platinum but I prefer getting those achievements first
The ones for visiting a player created L.E, Playing a player made time trial and possibly the one for customising your echo but seeing as that’s part of the customisation it probably won’t be affected

also some games you might want to look into skull island rise of kong ( game like gollum) a halo game since I have not seen anyone plat one of those on a video under the waves underwater game like subnatica but I think it leans more in the phycological and ryse son of rome a game where you basically play 300 meets og god of war don't know how hard plat is but it was an og xbox one launch title

I totally get you I played Xbox until a little bit ago when I switched over to steam so I could play whatever I wanted without having to keep up with the console changes
Oh no and sunset overdrive was a Xbox one exclusive made by insomniac or rocksteady can’t quite remember which I am pretty sure didn’t sell the best but the concept was cool you wake in a zombie apocalypse that was started because of an energy drink and the game just goes with the flow take it’s ridiculousness in stride and just having fun with it
I’ve done the Halo ones. They’re not hard, just very time consuming, and tedious.

mirrors edge catalyst on the pc is way more better then on the console! you should definitely try the pc version... the graphics are a lot better too if your monitor and pc can handle it.

When does this plat become unobtainable?
The online servers are being shutdown on the 8 December 2023 making the 2/3 online related trophies potentially unobtainable as you won’t see user created time trials/Beat L.E
i don’t have the plat just yet, i stopped when it came to collecting documents cause i got bored, but this might convince me to go back to it! i’m pretty sure i’ve already done everything that requires the online service luckily, i’m at 94% completion
